I'm kind of torn on this place. The first time we went was really good, but this time was just meh. We stopped in around 3pm for a late lunch. The portion sizes are good for the price. We ordered the quesadilla and 3taco plate. The items were decent but the rice was very dry. The tortillas were fresh and possibly homemade. We also ordered the chips and guac. The guac was delicious and fresh, the chips were not, lots of broken pieces like the end of a day old batch. The inside is very nice but there were several dirty tables and no one else dining. The music playing was rap music, didn't really fit the vibe. I might try again, but went back because the taco plate was so good on my last visit a few months ago so not consistent. We chose the bowls of salsa flight. 4 tiny bowls of fresh flavors. Salsa verde and manzano were our favorites. The salsa macha was flavorful but the heat was a little too much for me. First week open and still some opening pains. The staff was inundated tonight and simply overwhelmed. We were seated and watched two other tables who came in after us getting waited on while we waited for 20 minutes to place our order. Happy Hour runs from 3-6 pm on weekdays and appetizers are less expensive. Went with the chips and guacamole and the Valentina Bites to start with. Unfortunately my wife's entree came out before any of the appetizers did and my entree was the very last thing to come out 10 or so minutes after my wife had received hers. Would have been nice to actually eat together. Overall the food itself was very good. Two very tasty Tortas - one pork and the other beef (Mexican Sandwiches). The Valentina Bites with chicken and yucca as well as sweet plantains and honey sauce were delicious. The guacamole and chips were good as well. We enjoyed the music and atmosphere of the restaurant. The two top tables are really close together so it might be a little uncomfortable for some to have to listen to the adjacent conversation. Good location and good food! Nestled in a corner of the Shadowlake shopping center is this colorful Mexican restaurant. We ordered the People's Champ nachos which were very delicious but the cheese sauce was a bit watery but still very yummy. And it was a lot of nachos. Me and my two boys crushed it! Obviously. We also ordered the steak quesadilla. The meat was seasoned and tender and the quesadilla was packed full of it. We got some tacos and a side of guacamole too cuz that's what you do at a taco place. Although they were good, they were nothing to write home about. Very similar to Bomb taco. The Al Pastor was over seasoned and the sauce was very watery. The meat seemed very tender. The guacamole was pretty good. Tasted fresh. There were some interesting items on the menu I'll be going back to try; ceviches, Chile, enchiladas, etc. Inside is super clean with a nice amount of tables. There's an area in the back of the restaurant for larger parties and there a small outdoor space that looked very nice. The walls are painted with beautiful colors. The staff was friendly and service was fast but we weren't there at a busy time. There's no private parking but the location of this restaurant is surrounded by a lot of parking areas and the location is also located next to tons of stores perfect for walking around before or after grabbing a bite. We started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. As you do. The guac was fresh and delicious, with a unique note of ceviche thrown in. It was like 90% that excellent fresh guac perfection thing that you always crave, and 10% something completely unexpected. Think amazing guac, but made by a mermaid. The salsas (hot and mild) were completely unexpected. And both exceptional! They're blended fairly smooth, they're insanely fresh tasting, and they're just plain interesting. We're hooked. The chorizo taco was heaven. Or maybe fire. All of the above. So good! Same with the barbacoa taco, the tinga taco, the al pastor taco, the ... ok, it got a little out of hand. But cue the sound of angels it was transcendent. And the elote - literally the best we've ever had anywhere at any price. Spicy and mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm. You can quote me on that. We'd come here for it alone. Putting the icing on the cake, the cherry on top, and all that was our server, Nicole. She took the experience from good to great. They have great atmosphere at all of their restaurants. And the food is always good, no matter which restaurant. However the service seems the same with all there restaurants. . . Just ok. We went on taco Tuesday where they special $2 tacos with a lot of protein and vegetarian options. I'm not a vegetarian but still tried their potato taco, and it was delicious. We also had their steak, pork, shrimp, chorizo, and salmon tacos. All were amazing! For apps we had the chips and guacamole. We also tried the carnitas sopesitos, definitely recommend! The $3 margaritas are worth the visit too. The only thing that I would recommend is a kids menu to all of their restaurants. The drinks had excellent flavor and went down smooth. The taco menu is fairly large and has a wide variety of proteins to choose from (even plenty veggie options). Great place!! I had the cucumber jalapeño margarita and it is one of the best I've had. I also had the lunch Sopesitos and Quesadilla. One of the things I would recommend is going between 3-6 during their happy hour. Their drinks are greatly reduced. I love the location with easy parking in very well lit area with windows on both to the west and south side of the restaurant. We've been several times and the food and drinks are great every time. Can't beat the $2 Tuesday deal and happy hour. I had heard great things about this place and was really excited to give it a try! The food was fantastic! No complaints there! Their drinks were delicious as well. The issue was the customer service. We came in on a Saturday night and it wasn't very busy (maybe five or six other people in the whole place). We weren't greeted when we came in even with the sign that said "wait to be seated". A guy came over to us and casually told us we could sit where we wanted so we made ourselves at home. He didn't bring us silverware and didn't even offer to take our drink order. My friend had to ask for a drink. He gave his very honest opinion about the tea they served saying "it wasn't the best"...which we thought was odd. Even after bringing us our appetizers, we still didn't even have napkins or silverware. I asked for napkins, and he brought me a drink napkin. One small napkin. After our food arrived, we asked AGAIN for silverware and he just said "oh yeah...". It must've been his first night or he wasn't typically a server. I don't know. I love this place!! I moved from Southern California to Omaha and has since come to terms with the harsh reality that Mexican food here lives on a different plane compared to what I'm used to. That being said, Mas Chingon does a great job with their offerings and includes many meats that the other places closer to Papillion would never bother with. I almost left and I should have followed my instincts. When my friend got there we ordered our food. When I asked for corn tortillas for my tacos, the waitress snapped at me and told me that is all they use for their tacos. I asked for a water and got an eye roll from her. The service was very slow. We get our food. The rice and beans were on a side plate that was a size for a toddler. It only looks big in the picture because I zoomed in. We asked for salt and pepper and was told they didn't have any salt and pepper shakers. The waitress put them into little take out cups and put them on the table. I think she was having a bad day.
