This shoulder is not in a happy place, but Dr Johnson will cut to the chase She took me back to my assigned space where Dr Johnson met me. He had a trick up his sleeve. He prepped where the shot was going and Said: "Now wiggle the toes on your left foot". Becoming engaged, I made certain they were moving. AND before I knew it the shot was done " because he knew exactly where is should be put! Not to be lengthy but Mike Travis did my hands, Daniel Bauk did my hip, and Colleen worpked on my knee. I wish they would have made it clear once I said it was pregnant that they would not be doing adjustments, but stretching. I wasted 60 dollars and time driving there. I'd never seen a chiropractor before, but the entire staff made me feel so comfortable the whole…read moretime. From the first phone call, the front desk staff made it easy to "enroll" as a new patient by explaining the process and having me fill in paperwork beforehand. By the time I got to the office, I had a few more things to sign, but was only in the waiting room for a few minutes before I was brought back to an exam room with a physical therapist to take my vitals. I saw Dr. Green, and she made me feel at ease as soon as she entered the exam room. I'm used to medical practitioners dismissing my concerns because of my weight and telling me that losing weight is the number one most important thing, but Dr. Green dismissed MY "I know my back pain is likely related to my being overweight" comment and reassured me that she was more concerned about figuring out where my pain was coming from and helping me to correct it. All she had to do was look at my back and do a little prodding and she immediately discerned that my left hip is higher than my right and that push/pull was a major factor in my discomfort. She took me into another room, where I laid on the table while she manipulated my back and my hips. During the entire process, the explained clearly what she was going to do, how it was going to feel, and reassured me about any scary noises from my body or the table (some adjustments can be LOUD!). When I stood up a few minutes later, I felt like a new person. Dr. Green listed off a few stretches that she'd "prescribe" for me, and then I was led to the rehab room to do stretches with a physical therapist. I wish I'd gotten her name ‍, but like Dr. Green, she was very informative and kept me updated each step of the way. I was taught a number of stretches I could do at home to help with my discomfort, and even given handouts with visuals of everything. My physical therapist walked me through everything, stretching me there in the office, and even had me demonstrate the stretches back to her to be sure that I would be doing them correctly at home. The front desk staff was also very helpful. They scheduled me for a follow-up appointment quickly, gave me an explanation of what my insurance would be covering, processed my co-pay, and had me out the door in a matter of minutes. The entire process of walking through the front door to walking back out took about an hour and fifteen minutes, and during the entire time all of the staff was masked, usually with gloves, and I saw cleaning and decontamination happening between patients (even smaller details like wiping down pens and iPads before/after they changed hands). This was such an awesome experience, and a day later I'm still feeling good (albeit a little sore, which Dr. Green had warned me about, but she also gave me tips on what I could do to ease that pain if it got to be too much). I have another appointment next week and I'm already excited to go back. If more people had experiences like this with chiropractors, I don't see how anyone could pass on an opportunity to better their health with them!

So after about 8 months of debilitating pain in my hip, I realized it wasn't improving on its own and I made an appointment with Shelton Family Chiropractic & Physical Therapy. I had been getting their email newsletters for a few years, but never thought I needed "my back cracked". One of the emails had an article about how chiropractic care could help with hip pain! Who knew? I didn't know what to expect, but I was willing to try anything to regain mobility and comfort. By the time I scheduled my first appointment, I was limping from terrible pain that caused me to move less and less. I had to pick my leg up with my hand to get out of my car! There were times I couldn't put pressure on my hip at all and I was relying on the highest doses of Motrin and Tylenol just to get through the day. All day, every day! I was truly amazed at the results after only one treatment! I was warned by Dr. Shelton, "You're going to hate me tomorrow!" but I didn't experience the soreness afterward at all. I remember walking down my hallway the next morning and all of a sudden, I realized I was taking full strides and nothing hurt! It was so shocking that I actually teared up in disbelief! Dr. Shelton is very attentive and comforting, even intuitive in the way he can pinpoint exactly where the problem is. His focus on whole-body health, natural remedies and prevention has made a tremendous impact on my quality of life. Because of the success of that very first adjustment, I trust his expertise and try to follow his suggestions. Now, I walk 2-5 miles nearly every day, I completely changed my sitting habits and furniture, my posture is improving, I haven't had fast food in 18 months and I've even added daily yoga practice for the past 5 months! All these things, and more, were prescribed by Dr. Shelton who also keeps me accountable through encouragement and playful teasing when I'm acting like a whiney baby! I can't give enough positive reviews about this "miracle healer". I'm so very glad I finally made that first call.
