Their tag line 'Less pain guaranteed' is a bad joke. It was such a disappointment to find out that Dr. K's superficial friendliness and positive attitude would only be determined by how much money he can get from you. I have an excellent insurance which covers pretty much every chiropractic service available at all of the four different practices I have used in the area. After several weeks of rather painful sessions Dr. Kaminsky decided he would cancel all of my future appointments simply because I would not pay an additional $60 per session to use a gimmicky "decompression" chair he claims is the only solution to my back problems. If the use of an experimental device that is not covered by any insurance is the only way you can provide chiropractic care; you are not only a failure to your patients but to your own profession. read more

When I starting seeing Dr. K and his team, I was standing for only 30 minutes or less and unable to walk a mile. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Rheumatoid Arthritis, and have been to countless of doctors and tried tons of treatments but his program by far is the most effective. Being a patient here is truly being on a program towards better health. There is no waiting room in this office. An inviting, lime green mat awaits you, where other patients are already moving. Get started with your appointment right away with static stretches on the power plate, foam rolling, and calisthenics to warm up, get flexible, and get strong. Greeted with a genuine smile by Suvi and Andie, who work with you on stretches and strength/building, quotes on the the wall (hand-painted by Dr. K), and music playing make this appointment something to look forward to. There's also a chalkboard where patients answer uplifting questions like, "What are you going to shed this fall?" or "What's something you were afraid to do, but you do now?" After warmup, you'll do traction or get adjusted by Dr. K. He uses his x-rays of your spine, looks at your posture, and feels your back to determine how to adjust you. Still, my most valued aspect of this place is when Dr. K asks me how I am. He truly cares and actually listens. As a person with a disability and chronic illness, I was scared to be adjusted by a chiropractor. Dr. K is one of the only doctors I've ever had that understands that every day is a new day. He has been honest with me about what he knows of my rare genetic condition, and worked with me to get me to a place where my pain is reduced to a manageable level. I can stand for an hour. I can walk 3 miles. My coworkers commented that I use my cane less, I miss less work, and I'm happier. It is a time commitment; I've see him 2-3 times a week for the past 6 months and will continue. I truly feel like a new woman after three days in a row with Dr. Kaminsky. The first day I came in to see him I was in tears, with debilitating lower back muscle spasms. Every movement hurt. I'm really glad I found Dr. K. I have a history of chronic back pain. I recently found that one cause is a herniated disc. I was prescribed medication, received a cortisone injection, tried PT, and told to look into possibly doing surgery. I started seeing Dr. K about a month ago and am already feeling much better. I'm finally able to do my normal workouts again without getting excruciating neck pain and migraines. He also diagnosed an issue in my lower back that was overlooked for many years. I adore Dr. K and his staff. Dr. K is very caring and gentle and will give each patent tons of attention. My condition has been helped greatly by the doc and has improved so much that I have gone back to activities that I had sadly given up for over a year because I had been in so much pain. Dr. K's approach is one I believe in, a combination of rehab exercises, adjustment, and traction. The office is busy and bustling almost every time I go in but the staff never seems to be distracted and I never feel ignored. I feel very cared for by the entire staff and Dr. K. has always not only made time to talk to me on a very personal level but also has given me books and such just because he thought they might be of benefit to me. I'm an active person, doing a lot of outdoor sports like road and mountain biking, kayaking, and climbing. I've had some nasty injuries over the years, including a rotator cuff tear and some bad muscle pulls. I've been to see Dr. K. and Suvi at Maryland Chiropractic for two separate acute injuries. The first was for my back and shoulder a few years ago, at which time I spent about a month and a half working with them. The most recent was for combination of injuries that led me to work with them for about a month. Each round of work with them was successful for pain reduction and increased mobility, and importantly, I actually enjoyed the process. I've been to one other chiropractor and one other physical therapy office, and what I love about Maryland Chiropractic is the fact that they are integrative and so I feel like I get the best of all worlds. I really want to write something wonderful about Maryland Chiropractic. The people who work there - the two doctors, Angela - they are really nice. But their opaque fees and lack of communication are what make me give them a one-star rating. I was referred there by his friend, Dr. Fox (podiatrist). When I arrived and began speaking with Dr. Kaminsky, I asked about fees and insurances, as I was not sure whether my insurance would cover my visits. I was told that they had "payment plans" if I wanted; I did not want - I wanted to know EXACTLY how much my visits would cost, and whether they would be covered by insurance. It took six visits to get anything resembling an answer - I was told insurance would cover a certain amount (I was NEVER told that they are out of my network) for X many visits, and that I would have to pay Y. I asked what would happen after the allotted number of visits were up - I was told "you will never have to pay more than Y, even after your insurance stops covering your visits." I asked them to repeat that, because it did not make sense. I repeated it and said "you are saying that it will only cost me Y, ever - even after insurance won't cover it." I was assured that was the case. TWO MONTHS into my visits (which, I was told, needed to be three times a week) I got a flood of paperwork, and saw just how much they were charging my insurance company, which was not happy because they are not in my network. I also had been promised a denoroll, which I never got, to do therapy at home. I asked numerous times about the fees and charges, and never got a clear answer. On my last visit there, the new office manager and I had a chat - the doctor told her to do an "account review." This was after me asking many, many times about the costs, fees, insurance situation, etc. She told me my out of pocket costs were going to go up, and by the way I have a deductible to meet first. Excuse me?? I was angry and let her know. I was NEVER told about a deductible, which magically appeared, and I was told my out of pocket cost for each visit would be Y, not Z (and Y was already high enough, especially considering that they wanted me to come in three times a week). I was also told that I had a $16 credit on my account. I never went back. I got a call a month later, from Angela, whom I love. It broke my hear to tell her how upset I was about things, and why I had not come back. I explained what happened and she said "the doctor can't know about this. I'll tell him and he will call you." He never called. A week after that, I was still getting insurance statements and suddenly I received a bill for $231. I called and spoke with the office manager, and told her I am not paying this bill. Last time I was in there I had a credit and suddenly I owe this much money? For what? In addition to the fact that their fees are outrageously high? I told her I want to speak with the head of the practice, Dr. Kaminsky, about this entire situation. She said he would call me back. He never called. So that's twice now he has not called to address this situation. So now I am left with no ongoing assistance for my problem, and a bill that is not only usurious but unclear for what exactly I owe. As I said earlier, I hate writing a one-star review, but this is beyond bad business practice - this kind of opaqueness and incompetence in explaining things, despite my asking NUMEROUS times, and lack of response is simply unprofessional. As people, everyone there is very nice - no complaints. Dr. Kaminsky is often rushed, and seems to spend more time with some people than others. I usually would go in and do my own "PT" and then wait for the adjustment. That was ok, but when compounded with this situation, it means I will never return. read more

The parking is difficult here, its right above a wholefoods and it seems very busy most of the time. The staff is nice but I didn't get the results that Dr. K promised and I felt in more pain after quite a few visits. Dr. K will charm you by his endless smiles, hugs, and conversations about a healthy lifestyle, but beware! He is INCOMPETENT, when it comes to treating neck curves and scoliosis. He didn't obtain an initial x-ray of my neck to determine the most suitable course of treatment. After the proposed treatment my head and neck shifted forward even more than before, although the treatment was targeted at shifting the head back, not forward. In addition, my left leg got shorter, and my low back deteriorated. To justify these "side effects" Dr. K claimed that my mid back improved due to his chiropractic care. He almost convinced me that I was making good progress. However, when I had an independent X-ray done, it showed no improvement at all. Please note that Dr. K cannot mark or analyze the X-rays correctly and do not take his reports at face value. He issued two conflicting reports to me, and both were wrong. His treatment is ineffective at best, and detrimental at worst! Needless to say, I suffered a nervous breakdown, when I discovered my clinical outcomes. To make things even worse, Dr.K behaved like a coward by not responding to my phone calls after I learned the bad results. I had to show up in his office without an appointment to be able to face him. I can't comment on his expertise in other areas, but you can't trust a chiropractor, who fails to perform a comprehensive initial examination, fails to warn about the risks and negative side effects of the proposed treatment, fails to conduct an accurate re-evaluation, and makes your existing condition worse! STAY AWAY from his practice or put your health at risk! read more

I've had back spasms for years and neck stiffness for the past few years. I've seen doctors, reached the point where I thought I'd just have to live with it. I was walking in downtown Silver Spring and saw the sign for Maryland Chiropractic and thought I should give it a try. I wish I'd done this years ago. After the first visit, my spasms were much much better. After working through a series of visits, Dr. Kaminsky solved my back problem. He also helped me to work back friendly stretching and exercises into my routine to assure that my problems don't recur. The atmosphere in the office is great, very warm and supportive. I've been working with Dr. K and his staff for about 4 months. I came in with a pinched nerve, the result of poor work habits (crunched over computer, long hours immobile), and a longstanding issue of disc degeneration in the neck and lower back. The physical therapy exercises, gentle manipulations, and traction have helped me feel tons better. For instance, I used to feel like my head was really heavy -- a result, I discovered, of the issues in my neck and the fact that it was straight instead of curved and leaning forward. I no longer feel that heaviness, and while I have a long way to go to address the (lack of) curvature in my neck and back, I feel stronger and more aware of my posture, all of which is contributing to my wellness. One of the things I really appreciate about Dr. K's philosophy and work is that it's a partnership. I will get out of this what I put into it. So, doing the "homework" assignments is key. There are no silver bullets in correcting some 40 years of bad habits and untreated damage. He and his staff are also friendly, pleasant people. There's a lot of science indicating that atmosphere is a factor in wellness. His office is vibrant, both in its look and its energy. Do not go here! I felt like I had just brought my car in for a simple oil and filter change and was sold a bunch of services for my car that were not needed. Dr. Kaminsky will smoke a lot and act nice but then after taking X-rays he will try to scare the life out of you that if you don't see him for 36 visits over the next 12 weeks and spend a few thousand dollars that your spine will fall apart . As a result, I searched and I found another Chiropractor in the area who was honest, starlight forward and relieved my pain and symptoms in 3 visits instead of 36. There are many other better chiropractors in the area, trust me- don't go here unless you want to spend a lot of unnecessary cash. read more

Dr. K is skilled, concise, and charming and his staff are friendly, professional, and accommodating. In the office, they have a sign that says "make your health a part time job today so it doesn't become a full time job tomorrow." And I feel like that is exactly what they have done for me. I went in for something little, but because of the x-ray that they did on my first visit, I learned about a more serious health issue that was probably caused by a car accident I had when I was a teenager. Was given an appointment in the late afternoon, rushed to get there, only to learn that I wasn't going to be seen because the doctor on staff had other things to do. Whether or not the doctor had to deal with some 'more urgent' issue, someone should have given me a call. My interaction with the staff there led me to conclude that this was not the kind of office I would ever want to use again - if the staff and doctor can't acknowledge they should have called me to cancel, and instead asked me to 'deal with it' (so to speak) then there is a profound problem with how this office perceives and treats customers. read more

While Dr Kaminsky is probably a great chiropractor, I couldn't help but feeling less than great when I left this office. To start, during my exam he kept mentioning how overweight I was. This is nothing new to me, but for a new chiropractor to do it was a bit odd to say the least. Once the exam was done, and I was treated,I was brought to the front desk where it felt like I was in an infomercial for weight loss products. He peddled these bars and shakes like I was at a Weight Watchers Clinic. Ok, so I got passed that, because quite frankly I could stand to shed a few pounds. So I come back for my results, and AGAIN, I felt like the visit was more about my weight loss and those products than it was about my back problems. Sure I learned a few exercises to help with my back problems but I dont feel like it was worth what I paid and what my insurance was charged. Then to top it off, I WAS ROBBED at this place. Yes literally, ROBBED. The young lady at the front desk took me back to be weighed, and I asked if I could leave my belongings at the desk with the Dr and his staff, and I was assured that would be ok. Well,when I left I realized that $100 had been taken from my jacket. Usually, I would chalk it up as me being careless and losing it, but I know for a fact I had the money when I walked in.
