While the facilities are undeniably outdated with beds from what looks like the 70s or 80s and little TVs that aren't working (at least in my father's room), it's the staff and the care I'm impressed with. Most of the staff is wonderful. Most of them are dedicated to the comfort and care of the patients. The patients are kept clean, dry, and as comfortable as possible. I can see an effort made to entertain as well as to the little chores we all have to do like manicures and such all on a regular schedule. It is a nice center courtyard floor plan which gives residents a connection with the outside and each other. The floor plan is why I picked this facility as I knew my father would enjoy, looking out and even going out on occasion. It would be nice if the facilities got a little remodeling however, I'm glad they spend their money on the staff and having enough staff, instead of a nice new place with less staff in which patients are neglected or abused. We lucked out because my father got a perfect roomate whose mind is just fine. He keeps an eye on my father and calls the nurse anytime my father forgets and tries to get out of bed which he shouldn't do alone. I do wish the facility would use a pressure pad, either on the floor or bed, that would alert them if a patient was getting up. Overall, this place doesn't smell as bad as many of these facilities do, I believe thanks to the care and attention of the staff. I'm resting easy that my father is being well taken care of. Since insurance is covering this right now, and we haven't gotten a bill yet, I don't know what the value is, however, I am happy I picked these facilities. I would pick them again.

She puts patients health in jeopardy from her gross incompetence. She refused to arrange transport for a patient for their critical medical appointments. That is her job. She also grossly mismanaged PT where she stated the patient could not bear weight due to an order from a their doctor. False. There was no such order. The patient didn't receive proper treatment by the PT team and never recovered and died. Patients falls out of beds, are fed cold food, lay in filthy diapers for hours, aren't given the right medication, and their requests are ignored. The staff also lie on medial records. They said the patient had an existing bed sore, when it occurred while the patient stayed here ! Feeding specialists that advocate suicide! Shame on Berkley West Santa Monica ! There is a class action lawsuit against this facility for a reason. Look it up and you will see the horrifying details. It should have been shut down a long time ago! They have been reported to the state.

Unfortunately, the reality was very different. The facility appeared outdated and poorly maintained, and the level of care was unacceptable. Throughout his stay, communication from the staff was poor. We repeatedly had to call and ask for basic information. During the last five days of his stay, my husband became increasingly confused and incoherent. I contacted the facility multiple times, expressed my concerns, and specifically requested that a doctor evaluate him. My concerns were ignored. The most alarming incident occurred when my husband fell on a Sunday and was taken to the ER. The facility never contacted me to inform me of what had happened. Instead, I learned that he was in the emergency room through a message from my husband himself. At the hospital, we discovered that his infection had significantly worsened. Given the symptoms he had been experiencing and the concerns I had repeatedly raised, this was deeply troubling. The problems did not end there. The facility failed to send his belongings to the hospital, and when I later returned to retrieve his medications, I was given the wrong medication. When you place a loved one in a care facility, you trust that they will be treated with dignity, compassion, and proper medical attention. We did not receive that level of care. I cannot recommend this facility to anyone. Our experience was stressful, frightening, and completely unacceptable.

She loves her nurse, the food and she's very happy. When she did research on recovery places this one came the highest rated for her insurance. Nana keeps saying she's surprised at how quiet it is here. We are very happy with the people here and the care she's getting. They all deserve recognition. I understand why hospitals such as Cedars and UCLA recommend them. I was there for wound care and physical therapy. My wound care nurses were the BEST! VALERIE and NANCY went ABOVE and BEYOND to care for me. I was going to leave the facility after a few days but NANCY & VALERIE made me change my mind and I stayed. My wounds were so much better after the treatments and the knowledge they brought to bear. VALERIE advised me of some cost issues with prescription wound treatments that helped me navigate this once I was home. NANCY was an angel for me. AMERICA resolved my prescription issues and helped me stabilize after some pharmaceutical confusion. She was INVALUABLE. JIMMY also handled the pharmacy process extremely well. The PT and OT staff is also EXCELLENT!!! They helped me get strong enough to go home 2 weeks after arrival and adjusted their scheduling to accommodate my need to get home as soon as possible. The staff and people at Fireside make all the difference and I would recommend the facility whole heartedly. Just look past the dated facility. The Nursing staff are fabulous Erica the charge nurse she is so full life, sweet , and she is on it she takes care of the floor as if it were her own.
