Amazing. Super happy to have a great place to stop on a Sunday afternoon!! We needed a good bite after traveling several hours headed home. We got a Reuben and a cheesesteak plain, absolutely outstanding. This couldn't have been better! We also got plain vanilla soft serve and that too was amazing! What an interesting place. As passerbys, this was the only option for a Tuesday dinner in town. We don't normally eat deli food because we're on a paleo diet, so that being said, this place was alright but something I would come back to by choice. We are senior citizens and live in the area and have frequented MaryBeth's quite often. No problem with the food, it's always been very good. However, there is one employee, a brunette with the worst attitude ever. Very nasty, sarcastic and rude. We will no longer set foot in an establishment that treat their customers like crap. Probably the most awkward encounter I've had at a restaurant. I asked the female cashier what is popular and recommended as I had never visited before. Without cracking a smile I was brashly asked to look at her fingers with the question, "Does it look like I'm married to you?" And that I should be able to order on my own or something along those lines. I would have left but there aren't any other restaurants for 30 minutes open during lunch time. After I are the lady came up to me and asked if I made the right choice ordering all on my own. Just wow. I guess they don't take kindly to strangers in these parts? read more

Well to all the visitors & vacationers please keep going by if you want good food friendly ppl go to the Jolly Trolly or drive to Forksville Big Mikes Philly cheesesteaks or Between the Bridges or Forksville Inn for food bc the ppl at this place SUCK & so does the food I'm a local & I am sure she's hungry during the winter bc we don't go there when the cashier/ so called waitress is there she's rude ignorant & the food isn't that great the ice cream is good but then they buy that & don't make it. Stopped by after a day of hiking with some friends to get a sandwich and some ice cream. The lady running the register and making the sandwiches was extremely rude and gave my service dog a nasty look when I brought him in, so I ended up taking him back outside. Because I had to take my service dog outside I ordered after everyone else so he could stay outside with my friends and avoid the sneering looks. She was very short and obviously annoyed that there were customers bothering her. I waited while she finished making a sandwich and then she begrudgingly asked what I wanted. I told her and she just glared at me and gave me the price. I gave her my money (they don't take cards) and she took my money with the gloved hand she had just made a sandwich with, got change out of register using the same gloved hand, and slammed my change on the counter and went back to working on another sandwich without another word and without changing her gloves (which is gross even when we're not in a pandemic). My friend was so mad by her attitude that he refused to buy anything and just waited outside with my service dog. The other employees were very nice, and the sandwich was decent, although there were a lot of flies and things didn't seem very clean. I'm an army veteran and need my service dog with me, so it's very awkward when people are so obviously irritated by his presence (and everyone else's for that matter). I try to only write positive reviews because this world already has enough negativity and people complain about stupid things, but her attitude honestly reset everyone's mood from the entire (really fun) day read more

I make the trek from out of the area to the Loyalsock area for outdoor recreation several times a year. Recently, I brought a group of friends with me who had never been to the region. I have been to Mary Beth's in the past but only for the ice cream window, not eating inside. After purchasing ice cream the previous day, we decided to stop by again on Saturday for some food. We are not local so we were not aware with how the food ordering process works. We saw people eating in the dining room and entered thinking we could get a table. Upon entry and after asking if we could be seated we were advised that isn't how things work here. On this day, there was a lot of activity in the counter area as the person working there was answering the phone, filling orders, and taking payment from customers. As only a few of our group of 7 entered while the rest stood outside, we were told to limit the amount of people in the small ordering area, which we were doing. Confused about seating and ordering, this is when it was explained to us that you order and proceed to the dining room and could we please limit the amount of people in the ordering area for social distancing. This was explained to us in not the nicest way, but we let that slide because that person had a lot going on. Suddenly, another woman who appeared to be working the food line came around the corner with food and started yelling at us "SIX FEET.... SIX FEET... WE CAN'T HAVE YOU ALL IN HERE" and then disappeared back around the corner. I found this to be highly rude but what followed pissed me off so much. As she disappears around the corner, she starts making passive aggressive comments about us like she knows anything about what was going on or who we are. As an EMT who has been working on the front line fighting COVID in Philadelphia, I am very aware of what social distancing is, why its important, and how important COVID is. In fact, I would argue that I know a little bit more about it than a restaurant worker in Sullivan County. I didn't need the rude, off hand, passive aggressive lesson on COVID from her of all people. Additionally, if you want to continue to "school me" on what you think I need to know, you should confront me directly and not retreat to your fryers while still running your mouth loud enough that I can hear you and unprofessional comments. If it were up to me, we would have left at that moment. Unfortunately, most of our group (who was still outside during this whole ordeal so as to not crowd the ordering area) was not only not aware of what just happened but also very hungry. As we are seated in the dining room, a third lady brought our food to us. The look on her face said that she didn't have time for this job and would rather be anywhere other than here. Without any greeting, she walked up to our table and started barking out food orders. As we took a moment to figure out who ordered the items she was calling out, she started calling out the food name over and over as if every second that ticked by was a major inconvenience to her and if we didn't hurry up and claim our food, she would just toss it on the floor to let us figure it out. After handing out our food and walking away without asking if everything was ok or if we needed anything, a couple of us noticed that there was no ketchup to put on our sandwiches and couldn't find any in the dining area. I popped back around the corner to request more and the lady snapped back "I gave you some". Explaining to her that we would like some more for on the sandwiches, she reluctantly gave us some and made it clear that doing so was asking a lot. Most people in our group ate most of their meal and were not too impressed. A few noted their meal was dry and didn't feel like finishing it and would eat some stuff we picked up at the grocery store when they got back to the camp site because they were still hungry. I had no complaints on my food. Overall, we as a group decided we would not be going back. The food wasn't good enough to deal with the level of unprofessional and downright rude service we received. When I spend my money, I don't need my ass kissed but I like to know that the workers who are getting their paycheck because of the customers and are in business because of the customers are appreciated to at least some degree. I am even able to be reasonable and say that is was probably a busy day for them, maybe they were understaffed, maybe something happened prior to our arrival, who knows. But to be spoken to the way we were and to be treated with such disrespect is uncalled for. I did not feel welcome there and felt more like I was inconveniencing them by purchasing from them. In reading other reviews, it seems like we are not the only ones who have has this experience: ok food, not worth the terrible service. It seems like a lot of the good reviews are from regulars or locals. read more

WOW !!! The cheesesteak west side style !!! Absolutely melt in my mouth, kept eating even though I was full just because it was that good !!! We ate there and it was quick, hot, and everything impressed us. We all ordered an entree and an appetizer or side and it was so worth it !! We stopped here while traveling through Pennsylvania. Really nice set up with large menu selection. My hubby went inside to order while I had the doggie outside in their picnic area, which was a really nicely laid out area with seating and a small Brook running beside it. The waitresses and perhaps owner was very accommodating and brought out all our food with condiments. The food was delicious we were very surprised at how large the portions were. We were also happy the fact that they were open on a Sunday when there was hardly anything else open in town. I stopped in to use their indoor facilities and it's very brightly decorated with very clean and colorful Decore. They even had creative re-purposed Handpainted toilet seats hanging on the wall that were awesome!!! As an artist time so I was so impressed! and they had a little doggy dish of water for thirsty dogs sitting outside on this hot day. Very thoughtful people! read more

The first time we visited this establishment, we received mediocre service but fairly good food, so we went back again today when we were in town visiting with family. This time we received horrendously rude service at the ice cream counter. MaryBeth was so rude that half of us didn't even get ice cream because we were so turned off by her comments. We love supporting local businesses but unfortunately are not able to support this one at this time. I remember when the business opened and the food was good. This past visit was a turnoff and other locals concurred. Only one employee wore her mask (3 others that were preparing food did not, not did the owner who took our order at the cash register). She was *extremely* impatient with my question about payment methods that she preferred (we only had a certain amount of cash on hand). She was so rude that we seriously questioned whether we should cancel our order and leave. When I went into Hurley's IGA afterwards, a friendly gentleman engaged me in conversation and my experience came up. He responded that he doesn't go to Marybeth's anymore because of the same issues. It's a shame that it seems she has developed a negative reputation even amongst the summer locals. I hope that she is able to continue to support herself with those passing through and year-round locals that perhaps she is nicer to. read more

We stopped here on our way to camp in World's End State Forest. We were in no way disappointed. The food was delicious, served quickly, and with a smile from the staff. It was so good that we went slightly out of our way on the way home to Jersey just to eat here again. It's so surprising to find a place to eat with so many options in an area where there are so few places to eat. The ice cream is really good too! Food is five stars. Someone (the owner?) checked on us often and was super-polite after she delivered the food. But...the girl at the front counter...not sure what her deal is but quite literally every response she gave to one of us was sarcastic. (Example...They only take cash or check, I had a debit card, so when I realized this I said, very rhetorically, "Oh no kidding..." She responded flatly, "No, not kidding." No smile, no follow-up. I had to be the one to ask if there was an ATM around.) Very off-putting and creates an un-welcoming mood and environment. One-star removed for the really odd/not funny/unwelcoming front counter service. We'll visit Rickett's Glen again and if we go to this deli, the New York attitude in me that I do really well at keeping at bay will be visiting as well. read more

I was visiting my dad in Dushore, home of the only stop light in Sullivan County. He lives next door at Sullivan Terrace apartments, and doesn't usually have a stocked fridge. He recommended MB's for dinner one night. I was in the mood for some good old fried food, so I got their appetizer sampler. Came with chicken tenders, fried mushrooms, french fries, mozz sticks, rattlesnake bites (sliced fried jalepenos), and some kind of pasta salad. Fiance got chicken fingers and nachos. It was all delicious. The kicker though, was my Dad's cheesesteak. He even reheated it in the microwave (he doesn't keep normal dinner hours!). He offered me a bite, and I wasn't expecting much since I live in the Philly area.. but my goodness! Better than home.. even reheated in the microwave. I love my Dad and all, but I can't wait for my next visit so I can have my own, hot off the press! All the food, and 2 cans of soda, and an additional order of fries, came to 28.00.
