At…read morepresent the store has a lovely christmas display in their window, which caught my eye, so I went in to have a look. The first thing to hit me was the lovely cinnamon smell as I entered. On browsing I discovered all kinds of different items for sale, ceramics, cards, hello kitty brand items and many other knick-knack type items. On deeper investigation I noticed that the prices weren't as competitive as their neighbours'. The glassware was quite expensive for what it was and they had some button earrings on sale - which were literally buttons attached to earrings - that cost £10, which i thought was pretty high for what they were. Still, it's always worth having a look in these shops as everyone has different taste, and invariably there will be some little treat that you might find. All in all a nice little shop with a few cool things to see.

This gift and card shop is similar to the second Angels shop down the road 'Angels Too'. I had…read morepopped into this one for a card and decided to check out the other one, mentioned to me as I was making my purchase. They both sell cards and gifts but the range here seems to aimed at different customers. There are gifts and stationary items from the Hello Kitty brand and a range I had not come across before - Momiji dolls. They seem quite a cult thing when I looked them up on the internet later on but something that might appeal to teenage girls. There was also a 'Top Model' range. Something else I hadn't come across before either, probably due to my age (mid-twenties, too old to be interested but to young to have children that are). So you can find many gift items here and will probably be drawn in by the colourful window display that currently involves a gothic christmas tree.

Although it sells the expected selection of useful items such as lace, thread, eyelets, elastic and a whole host of other things; I tend to visit the stall for a different purpose. I am obsessed with the art of gift wrap. As I have previously mentioned, I have been known to lavish more money on the presentation than the gift itself, during the more penniless periods of my life! The Sewing Basket is a positive haven for my wrapping needs. Last Christmas, my theme was brown paper with bright, festive shades of thick, red ribbon. This stall supplied me with copious metres of the embellishment, at extremely reasonable prices. To the extent that I had enough money remaining to buy a red feather to place on the side. Receiving a gift fro me really is a sight to behold! An excellent and conveniently located stall to satisfy your haberdashery needs, and more besides.

They also stock a range of craft items for cross stitch, decoupage, stickers and many other card decorations. The staff there are always very friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonably cheap. The Sewing Basket is definitely a valuable addition to the modest variety of haberdashers in Leeds.

Miss Angel has an entire wall dedicated to thick, gold chunky chains alongside sale items and silk scarves. There is also a selection of pashmina scarves, but I doubted their authenticity when noticing their meagre price. The range of hair bands, bows, ribbons and 50's inspired flowery hair embellishments was fairly impressive, I will remember it as a place to stock up. Personally, I thought the statement necklaces were the most impressive pieces. They were huge and extremely eye catching, well worth a visit based on those alone. The value of the jewellery is fantastic, but I do consider it to be a shop reliant on customers who prefer quantity over quality.

It indicates in the window that it sells 'vintage, retro and modern' jewellery...I couldn't see much evidence of true vintage jewellery but there was some reasonably pretty vintage-style jewellery but just with a slightly cheap look that took away from the vintage look. There is a huge range, so there's probably something to suit most tastes but it's mainly tailored towards the younger end of the market with a generally loud and fun style. You're unlikely to find anything really amazing and unusual but if you're looking for cheapish jewellery you could find a few pieces that stand out.

But you can also while away the day talking to Chloe, who is interested in EVERYTHING. She handmakes all her items, and is happy to explain the process, she would always try her best to find something if you requested it, children love her, and you'll come away clutching your purchases thinking of martians and bubblegum. Everyone needs to go see Chloe, buy her things and enjoy a little slice of happy heaven in Leeds.

For those of you who like jigsaws (I…read morecertainly do!) this seems to be The Toy Shop's favourite product as much of their shop is dedicated to quite a wide range of different jigsaws at reasonable prices. There are plenty of little fun trinkets that would be perfect party bag fillers as well as outdoor games, toy cars and trucks, some beading/ craft type sets and a few dollies among other items. This would be a good place to stock up on last minute birthday presents for the youngsters in your life as there is something to suit most ages and tastes. There isn't a huge range though, but bearing in mind it is a reasonably small market stall it covers most bases well.

Therefore, The Toy Shop is a great little store, and whilst it may not focus on the latest games and action figures plastered all over our television screens, there are still a lot of boxes and figurines to buy here. Toys that wont cost you the earth, but with keep the kids distracted for at least 5 minutes, and will satisfy them if you have dragged them out with you to go shopping!

However if you do bother to read the sign, which I generally don't it attempts to break it down for you - products it sells: books, greetings cards, toys/novelties, helium balloons, party wear. This almost covers it but there's bound to be loads of mysterious bits and bobs missed out by this list eg. make-up...unless I suppose that counts as party wear. It kind of seems strange to sell sexy bunny outfits in the same shop as dolls for 1 year olds but I guess the organised disorder of this shop is kind of its making. One wall of the shop seems to be dedicated to children's toys with most of the things you'd expect in a regular toy shop. Near the till they also have one of those stacks of plastic drawers full of perfect party bag fillers including bouncy balls, springy things that boing and mini packs of cards. Near the back of the shop they have shelves full of greetings cards including some rather delightful retro-looking Easter cards for 40p - score! Fancy-dress-wise it's a bit thin on the ground with a couple of pre-packed outfits (including the aforementioned 'sexy' bunny) a few wigs and some neon tutus. They also have cheap jewellery, make up and helium balloons. If you're throwing a kids' party, or looking for a quick fix fancy dress costume/make up you will probably find what you're looking for. Toy-wise it's worth a look but Armadillo Toys across the road probably has more selection. Amongst a multitude of other things, more notably I spotted toys, gifts, cards, party plates, pick 'n' mix, wrapping, make-up and more. The shop is literally crammed with things, so much so that I almost walked straight into a display as I entered the shop whilst trying to manoeuvre out of the way of a mother and pram! The man who was serving people seemed to be very nice, certainly he was trying to do his best to find what the customer wanted, but as I looked a little deeper I realised a bit of a flaw. You can only do the best with what you've got, and although Pink Banana has lots and lots, the quality isn't consistent throughout. For example, they sell some jewellery items much cheaper than in the other gift shops in Chapel A, but the items aren't particularly great - tat in a word. Which kind of makes them a little expensive for what they are, even if you take into account the fact that they are for kids. All in all, the shop is filled with shiny plastic wonders, but scratch the surface and the paint might come off. Their board said "Everything you need for a party!" which is true - but only if the party is for the kids!
