Compact and well used library especially in the afternoons during the school years when kids from nearby schools come here to wait to be picked up by adults coming from work. There is a dedicated teen space in addition to the children section. A screened off corner in the children section is for lactation. There are several study rooms that can be reserved. Seating is varied and comfortable throughout. Many computers are available for use. The community room is used for programs both sponsored by the library and outside groups. It is a very active facility enjoyed by people who live here.

They re-did the stickers on the window.

For a public library, this is awesome. Not quite the research mecca that is Shields at UC Davis, but also much more approachable. At this rate, who cares? It's all online anyways, so you can check it out from your phone, right? Some people like the tedium of actual bound books. There are a number of those here so check them out while you can! They will be replaced/eliminated sooner than you might expect. One other thing I found here is that it's a somewhat social space. It wasn't dead silent like others can be. The parking lot was FULL and more cars were piling in. UCD folk _may_ wander over here to check it out but chances are no, they'll just go online. Or to one of many libraries found on campus. sidenote: an EV is a car. Dude is saying that there's nowhere to plug in yo' vehicle.

Just now noticed the typo. Too funny, even libraries can't spell.

If it wasn't for the rude male staff members, it would be tolerable. Truly clueless about library etiquette.

The 2nd floor is great for group work while the third floor is great for a more silent environment. Large tables are everywhere and the chairs are slightly padded. I feel like bathrooms are something UC Davis always skimps on. Old buildings always seem to undergo some type of minor renovations but it always excludes the bathrooms. Consequently, the small tiles have gathered decades of grime and filth. It doesn't help that they only seem to be cleaned once a day. There's only a single occupancy restroom for men on the 2nd floor.

Even if it's busy everyone is very quiet, not like Shields with all the chatter. Just not a fan of the computers not being part of the normal page printing. They're a part of repro so you end up having to pay a minimum of $5 even if you want 1 page. They're also extremely extremely slow, I don't think they've updated the computers in over a decade. I just complain because they're the closest to Mondavi and I sometimes have to print and don't want to walk all the way to Olson, it's probably not a problem for most people. I've never used them, but they have legos to play with when you walk in, seems like fun :)

Vacaville just spent $2.6M I believe it is and it took over a year to upgrade the library here. It is just around the corner from me and I have dearly loved it for nearly 20 years. Once warm and inviting with a charming tree sculpture in the children's area it now seems rather unaesthetic and the materials came across as cheap-looking to me. I thought to myself that I could've done a better job with $680,000 on a Home Depot credit card! I mean for God's sake ~ $2.6.M!? Gimme a break. They could not even power wash the filthy bench area out front located as the last thing you see before you go through the new front doors? That wonderful wood tree sculpture that was always so wonderful to gaze at every time I ever went in there should at least be put in the large computer area or SOMEPLACE within the new library (they are apparently trying to "rehome it" elsewhere in town) So please~ power wash that entire cement area out front! And do whatever you can to warm it up. I will miss the comfy chairs near the entrance where people used to sit and read for hours ~ I don't recall seeing any place to do that anymore but admittedly I took a quickie tour. as there just wasn't much to see of interest. It just seemed to be so sterile! You can go outside where they have some type of patio area out back. But it's not the same that's for sure. I'm also concerned that when I double-checked my facts on the price I saw that it was actually over $24M! Heart attack time! When I first heard of $2.6M and then took the tour I thought we're looking at a lot of corruption here; there had to be a ton of kickbacks somewhere ~something is off. It simply doesn't look like a $2.6 mil upgrade! And if it's $24M then somebody needs to open up an investigation by midnight tonight! Everybody go see for yourselves. Is it just me? Am I off? In the meantime I'll post these two photos....

First thing I noticed that it is very clean, including the bathrooms! It is also very quiet, which is an excellent environment to study in, even without headphones! There are some instance where people decide to talk fairly loud, but that can be ignored if you have headphones in. Each cubicle has their own outlets, so you don't have to worry about your MacBook/laptop battery dying. They also offer free wifi here! I did not have any trouble finding parking, thank God. There are several 2 hour guest parking, which is convenient and FREE! I'm definitely a fan of this library and I'll be utilizing it whenever I'm in the area.

I prefer this library because of its hours, in addition to it being quiet and clean. The only pitfall would be that you have to pay for parking if you intend on staying longer than two hours. The two hour parking is closer to the building, but if you're going to stay longer park in Lot 18 and pay $6 for an all day parking pass. DO NOT park in the parking structure, there's an hourly rate there. For $6, you can come and go as you please. It can get costly if you're going to study everyday, but think of it as an investment towards your future. Tip: The ticket booth is towards the back of the lot. I suggest driving to the booth, have your license plate readily at hand, pay for your ticket, and find a parking spot. Oh yeah, I didn't see any private rooms if you have a meeting of some sort.
