During the…read moreappointment, I was initially told that I had around 3 cavities, then 4, which already surprised me because I've never had more than one or two cavities at a time in my life. Then, when I got to checkout, they again confirmed that I was uninsured and suddenly told me that I had 6 cavities. I asked why the dentist looking at my teeth said I had 4 and the lady at check out said the dentist had mispoken on how many based on the scans? They quoted me approximately $2,000 for the recommended dental work. Going from 3 to 4 cavities during the exam to 6 at checkout, along with a $2,000 treatment quote, felt extremely strange to me. The whole situation just felt off, and I became suspicious enough that I did not feel comfortable moving forward without another opinion. I went to a completely different dental office, had new X-rays taken and a full exam, and they told me that I have zero cavities. I had them double check as I was shocked to hear this, and also then after explained the situation that had occurred here. And they again confirmed that no, I had no cavities. I understand that dentists can sometimes interpret things differently, but the difference between being told I had 3-4 cavities, then 6 cavities, being quoted around $2,000 in treatment, and ultimately having another dentist find none at all is pretty shocking. I'm extremely glad I trusted my instincts and got a second opinion before agreeing to treatment. I would not go here and am at a loss of words for the situation Toothopia nearly put me in.

I came in for my first appointment here for a routine cleaning and checkup and had a great…read moreexperience from beginning to end. I was able to schedule via text, which is extremely convenient for me. I was greeted and checked in when entering their clean, aesthetic office. They have the newest dental tech I've ever experienced. Beth was my dental hygienist who was wonderful and thorough checking in on comfort and providing explanation throughout the cleaning. She even offered and applied topical anesthetic for my sensitive teeth, so it was entirely painless! Dr. Sadat was my dentist and she was just so sweet. She gracefully took on my questions, and there wasn't a moment I felt rushed like I normally do with dentists who are quick to meet their next patient. TLDR: highly recommend! Definitely returning.

WOULD RATHER LET MY TEETH ROT THAN COME HERE…read more TL;DR - Terrible customer service, patient care AND shady billing. Familiarize yourself with The No Surprises Act - Providers are legally required to give you an up-front cost estimate before performing work you'll have to pay for out-of-pocket. If they skip that step and bill you months later, that is THEIR mistake. It's on them, not you. I'll start on a positive note - Vy, the hygienist is an absolute gem. The salt of the Earth, really. She is compassionate, kind and gentle. Her care for patients is palpable and I wish she didn't work here so I could continue to be seen by her. Everyone else? Absolute crooks who dgaf about patients. It's all about sales. This place tried to stick me with a $1,000 bill SIX MONTHS after my appointment for work they never told me would not be covered by insurance. When I called them out, their "solution" was taking ZERO accountability (no apology) and "generously" offering 30% off... meaning I'd still pay $754 for THEIR mistake. Only when I cited the No Surprises Act and threatened legal action did they take accountability. Here's my experience summed up for you: Bait-and-switch Invisalign treatment - I came ONLY to create space for a missing molar implant. That's it. No cosmetic reasons, my bite or alignment was not causing any pain. I only needed to create space for an implant, nothing else and I made that VERY clear. Dr. Sidat sold me $5,000+ of Invisalign without outlining my care plan. She never told me I needed my wisdom teeth out first, or that it might not even work and that actual braces would be a better route. After TWO full sets of trays (with only 3 included in my care plan), their oral surgeon (Dr. Michael) bluntly tells me it won't achieve my goal at all. Pressure & contradiction of treatment plan: Dr. Michael contradicted Sidat's plan, dismissed my request for sedation for wisdom teeth extraction, and continued to pressure me into having my teeth pulled THAT day. ZERO bedside manner, zero warmth and lack of care. He should consider a different career path. Lack of transparency: Without a word, Dr. Sidat vanished and Dr. Bae took over my case. No explanation. No transparency. Just pretending like nothing happened. Mind you - I had never met Dr. Bae or seen her before. Painful, botched work: Dr. Bae did fillings and resin work while I was clearly in pain (wincing and wiggling in chair). I had to physically grab her wrist and tell her I needed a minute to which she did not say a word or apologize. Instead she sat there like a dog waiting for you to throw a ball. She just wanted to get back to work. My tooth is still rough and not smoothed over from the work she did. Then, after that, she gave me my retainer which didn't fit. She blamed me and said I wasn't wearing my trays long enough, wasted 45 minutes trying to hack it down, and eventually had to rescan my teeth. Dismissive arrogance: When I told her this entire process was extremely frustrating and how I felt like I was not being heard by Dr. Sidat and Dr. Michael, and now her, she told me I was "overthinking." The final straw: The $1,000 bill ($933.61 to be exact). At my January appointment, I was told my cost would be $142 after insurance. Six months later, I receive a bill for $933. Management refused responsibility, told me informing patients of out-of-pocket costs is just a "courtesy," and hid behind layers of front desk and billing staff. The manager, Scott, didn't even bother asking what happened or try to understand. They are dishonest, predatory, and shameless. I'd rather pull my own teeth out with pliers than give them another cent. If this review saves even ONE person from dealing with these crooks, it's worth it. Last thing I'll say is look at my yelp profile - I pride myself in NEVER giving 1 star reviews, in fact this is my first one, because I know how shitty it is. But I'd give this place 0 stars and put them out of business if I could.

Dr Razi extracted both my bottom wisdom teeth so fast and painless. I no longer fear coming to the dentist, as long as I'm numbed :) i definitely recommend Modern American Dentistry if you have had any past horrible experiences with other dentists they'll definitely make you heel comfortable and relaxed

Jack Shabanian, D.D.S. DEA #: BS3414985 LIC #:38917…read more11701 Hawthorne Blvd. Hawthorne, CA 90250 310-676-0145 I am filing a complaint against (Dr. Jack Shabanian) for rude and disrespectful comments/behavior towards me as a patient. My appointment time was at 9am on 10/3/2023, with Dr. Shabanian as my examiner. The office called me about 2 weeks ago for an updated visit since I have not been scheduled with their office in the past 5 years. My last visit with them was dated back in December, 2019. I asked the receptionist over the phone if they had a Endodontist on site and I was told yes there was a specialist. Therefore, I accepted the new appointment made on 10/3/2023 at 9am. I came into the office early, filled out paperwork, waited patiently in the lobby until I was called... Dr. Shebanian kept eyeing me up & down from my peripheral vision as I was sitting in the lobby, without me knowing he was my dentist. (It was only me & him in the lobby room at that time.) He greeted me in the most unwelcoming manner and then directed me towards the examination room. I sat in the chair, as he looked over my OLD charts that was from 5 yrs ago and asked me what's wrong. I proceeded to tell him that I know I need a lot of work done; I already had my bottom wisdom teeth pulled out from a previous dentist, now my mouth is in pain on the right side, and I just need a dentist office that's willing to HELP me fix my teeth. Since I went to Choice Dental on Hawthorne Blvd. Ste. D, during the 5 yrs since the last time I've been to Dr. Shabanian office. I went to choice dental as an alternative because I needed to remove my bottom wisdom teeth. But I was not happy with the long waiting time and not filing the correct X-rays to my Medical insurance to approve a root canal application. Dr. Shebanian's office is prejudice to customers having low-income medical coverage (medical) or a person of race/color. After I told him what happened with the other office, He began to get frustrated, being rude towards me, making unnecessary comments, and would not even let me speak. Before the exam even started, he was not trying to make the effort to even look or checking inside of my mouth. He kept telling me that "it doesn't matter what's going on in my life and don't not blame outside influences for what's wrong with my teeth." Clearly it was all about making money to him and did not want to give me the time of day. He then proceeded to escort me out towards the exit of the office until I got my mouth fixed by someone else, then he WOULD BE willing to help afterwards.... One of his comments that he said to me, "I don't know how you are still eating." Being disrespectful to the point where he didn't want to do the examination. Making assumptions about me that "I am a patient who only comes in when they are in pain." I was trying to make sure what services were covered by Medical and the cost of treatment if I was to move forward with them as my dental office. Dr. Shabanian kept speaking to me in a very condescending manner, making it seem like I did not know what he was talking about. My response was "ok" to every statement he made about me and his approach was negative. I kept replying "ok" because I did not want to escalate the situation and make matters worse. During the exam, he kept huffing and puffing, sighing as he was grabbing dental instruments like he did not want to work on my mouth. Once he finished cleaning a small area of my mouth, he sent me on my way with a root canal information card to another place and said if I don't show up for the appointment that I would have to schedule myself anyway, he would not help me anymore. I felt like I was being forced to do what he said just to get the help that I desperately need. Why would Dr. Shebanian office contact me after 5 years, just to degrade me & not properly treat me?? Therefore, I left his office very upset and felt disrespected on that day. Since then, I have removed myself as a patient and will not be returning back to that office again. And this complaint has been reported to the Dental board of California.
