We stayed here for our final night in Tahoe and definitely like the property. The room we got was an upgrade and very comfortable and nicely furnished. Very spacious for our family of four. Parking was easy but I wonder if it may get a little crowded during busy season. Service was fantastic and special props to Adan who was at the front desk who was very kind, courteous and helpful. No complaints on our end, but simply a thank you from our entire family to Hilton and the entire crew at Martis Valley Lodge! 4.1 stars rounded up because we love Tahoe! read more

Over all it was perfectly fine. The rooms are good, there are little refrigerators in there and if you need a microwave there is one downstairs The staff were really nice. Very lovely women at the front desk. The lodge is located conveniently near a Raley's supermarket which is great, a ramen and brewer place to eat, both very good. A few downsides - they have 2 washers and 2 dryers, both costing $7 in quarters. I'd say most of the time the front desk did not have quarters so it was not possible to do laundry unless you went out to get more quarters. I highly suggest they get rid of those relics and install a QR code operated washer and dryer like 99% of other hotels have as if you are going to offer laundry services, you should always have quarters on hand if required to operate The food was not good. I ordered a burger and I am sure it was microwaved as it was pretty gross and metallic tasting. This turned me off from eating there and did the best I could in my room and going out. Lastly I needed something in the early morning and I went down to the front desk to find a sign that stated they were away helping someone else and would be back soon so I waited for a bit, and no one showed up. I notice a man sleeping in the lounge and thought he was a traveler. I came down an hour later and no one at the desk and the guy was still sleeping in the lounge area. I started to put 2 and 2 together and realized this was the guy "helping" someone else.. hmmmmm? I went down another hour later and that sleeping guy was at the front desk watching his phone and could not be bothered. Tall guy, mustache, not a good representation for your hotel guys. We had an incredible and unforgettable stay. Our three day weekend turned into a six day impromptu vacation because of a massive winter storm that dropped nearly four feet of snow during our visit. The staff was stretched thin but they all went above and beyond at every turn. I learned that their food delivery truck crashed on the way to the hotel and the manager took multiple trips in his own car to get their order off the truck. The hotel remained warm, welcoming, and clean throughout it all. It's one thing to provide great service on a normal day, but this team truly proved what an amazing establishment they are during this crazy winter storm. We left feeling cared for and very grateful for the lengths the staff went to. The roads were finally safe enough for us to leave the hotel and drive back to the Bay Area on Friday. But the memories of being snowed in during a huge Sierra winter storm will stay with us forever. It was truly a memorable week. Highly recommend. read more

Lacking...did not see any lights along building. Perimeter lighting is lacking lumens. Even cars parked directly under light is barely lit. Staff Front Desk Staff Check in was really smooth. Front Desk (415PM, Friday) did an awesome job making us feel welcomed. He answered our questions. Later he did provide me coffee pods since the room only had 1 decaf pod. Room 142 Amenities Nespresso maker but when I checked in...only 1 decaf pod. Front desk was able to get me regular coffee pod. Mini fridge No Microwave Cleanliness Dust on top of mirror over desk. All other surfaces are dusted. Floor looks clean and swept Lighting Decent lighting, even with curtains drawn HVAC Wall mounted control. Wall unit. Pretty quiet system. Bathroom Roomy and clean, but the shower did not have any shelf to put soap or razor on. ***DO NOT TAKE LONG SHOWERS...over 5 minutes. The bathroom lights are in a motion sensor timer...it does not sense you when you are showering. Hint- you can balance your razor on the wall mounts for the bottles of bath products. Suggestions- remove the cute wooden "Do Not Disturb " sign. Otherwise it makes a racket when you open and close the front door. You cannot have the bathroom door and front door opened at the same time. They will collide. read more

We haven't even finished our full stay here and I already know that this is the review I need to leave. We are night two of our stay here and it's already proving to be worthy of only two stars. I won't give just one star because honestly the staff have been so friendly and it feels like maybe they're understaffed? I can't blame the staff; they've been nothing but kind. HOWEVER, from the first night we checked in, it's been a mess: 1) they had to close the kitchen early because they ran out of food. The hotel is sold out for this winter break, how can there not be enough food? 2) our digital key via our Hilton app didn't work and then our physical key cards stopped working 3) there was a bizarre beeping noise at 9pm that was coming from outside that was really noisy 4) we've received two phone calls in our room phone from other guests thinking our phone number is the front desk?! 5) the heaters are SOOOO loud. They will turn on and off all night that we have decided to just turn it off tonight and see if we can stay warm... The next morning, we headed to breakfast by 8ish but they once again ran out of food?! We managed to get some bacon and sad potatoes, toast and cereal but definitely for whatever price is being charged for breakfast, it was not worth whatever the price is. I did hear a staff member say folks would be refunded the breakfast charge. Other missing amenities: 1) no water bottles in the rooms 2) no microwave in the room 3) we've been here two nights now and NO HOUSEKEEPING came to clean our room? Or remake the beds? Or restock our coffee pods?! A few pluses: 1) the staff are truly kind. I don't think it's their fault. Definitely a management problem 2) the beds ARE comfortable 3) the showers are nice and water pressure is good 4) the common areas have board games on request which is nice when you want to kill time 5) location is great re: local snow play and the gas station next door is super convenient for filling up before you drive Anyway, we have a few more nights here but I don't think any of the things I docked stars for are going to improve so I'm leaving it at 2 stars. I would not come back here for another snow trip. read more

In general, this was a nice place to stay. I was assigned room 132. Very nice room for the price and you can't beat the location, just 10 min drive from Northstar and 5 min to down town Truckee. Friendly staff, nice hot tub and fitness center, rooms were super clean and modern / updated, safe and overall just a nice place to stay. The only problem during my stay was that the heater didn't work. Not a huge deal once I got under the covers in the 52° room. The manager was very nice / professional and comp'd me some things for my troubles. I would definitely recommend this place regardless and I plan on staying again. read more

Service is horrible. I paid $950 for a room Feb 20. They charge around $20 for breakfast per person and $20 per car. The check in was very slow. Check in was at 3pm. Room was not ready until 6pm. For the three hour wait the hotel gave me a $10 voucher to buy snacks. Can't believe the generosity! The rooms were fairly nice but the floor is tile/stone surface. Very chilly on feet. Must wear socks or shoes. Breakfast was a disaster. I went down to breakfast at 8:45am for breakfast. Dirty dishes everywhere. No staff servicing breakfast and no one doing any cleaning. Another guest said they have already been waiting at the counter for over 5 minutes and have not seen any staff. I went to the kitchen to look for the staff. Management of this hotel is seriously lacking. read more

Stayed for a several day work retreat and had a great time! Property is freshly renovated, staff was attentive, and grounds were beautiful. We had catered breakfast and lunch in the meeting room and enjoyed the bar in the evening. Location is super easy with easy access to old town. Can't wait to come back during ski season. read more

We two seasoned adults, stayed 2 nights between Christmas and New Years. The good news: the room was clean. The hotel is next to a gas station. The bad news: The HVAC system is the old "under window unit" from the old Hampton Inn and when it comes on, one needs ear plugs as it is very loud. No maid service. No water bottles. The worst news: The American Breakfast, which we paid almost $50.00 for two, was the worst I have ever experienced. It consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage patty and cubed potatoes which were micro-waved and delivered luke warm. It was terrible. One bite and we walked out and drove away. How on earth is this place 500 dollars a night for the basic room? It smells and looks like a hospital inside- the rooms are stark and cold and loud. If you just redid this hotel, why did you leave in the old 1970s air conditioning units in every room that come on so loudly in the night and shut off and make banging noises? Nothing like staying in a place where you can tell that the people just do not give a single care in the world. The staff that checked us in we're mostly standing around on their phones laughing and could hardly be bothered to help us. I just cannot get over the fact that I spent $500 to stay one night in a glorified Holiday Inn. And of course you let me know when I checked in that there was breakfast available in the morning, but at an extra cost. At a Holiday Inn, breakfast is included. And it's like half the price to stay there. And the rooms are nicer and they actually give you water in your rooms. The fit and finish of everything was so incredibly cheap. i'm also astounded that the Truckee area is just allowing businesses to come in in this way and create another subpar experience in such a beautiful region. This region needs more really nice hotels, it's super weird that nobody is capitalizing on the market. The Hilton branding in general should've given it away, this gigantic company just gives 0 effs. Such a shame because they did a nice job redoing the building from the outside and it looks inviting. What a sad, bland and cold experience. Also, if you're somebody who is health-conscious, your heart rate can never settle overnight because of all of the Wi-Fi around. This should come as no surprise, just wanted to give you a little warning. I was literally cracking up that on the bedside. There's a QR code that you can use to tip the staff. What exactly would I be tipping the staff for? Giving me nothing? Having no water in the room? The ridiculous attitudes? Get over yourselves. Also- when you call to make the reservation, you're getting Hilton at a call center- not the actual hotel. So the nice lady on the phone asked me for all of the special requests that I had so I told her I would love some supportive foam pillows and extra pillows and also to be in a quiet location away from the elevator in the hotel. Once you're at the hotel, they didn't care about any of those requests, they have no separate or extra pillows, and I was placed right by the elevator. When I say these people could not care less, they just literally could not care less. Also, there was a hole in the wall. Also, there is literally no place to put your luggage, no luggage racks available. It is so ghetto to expect people to come in and just open their suitcases on the floor. There's not even any furniture to put your suitcases on. What on earth are you guys doing? You have no self respect- because when you respect yourselves, you actually respect other people and you wanna make it a good experience for them. Save your money and book literally anywhere else. Also- the phone in the room is a prop phone. It doesn't work. So you can't call the front desk with anything, not that they would have anything to offer you. read more
