I was not expecting the NASCAR race to be so much fun but I had a blast. The facilities were clean, the employees were lovely, and the experience was amazing!

10/22 Free entertainment included area dance groups.

October 2022 update (nine years since my last visit). The Martinsville race is now the final Cup race to qualify for the Cup Finals in Phoenix. Entry into the parking lot was easy and parking was free. Easy that is - if you arrive quite early before the scheduled start time. I parked at 7:15 am for the 2 pm race start. The midway is open for several hours before the race and had a good variety of free activities for the fans. This year the free activities included a Ferris wheel, several sponsor booths with free swag, the always popular driver merchandise trailers, and the famous Martinsville Hot Dog Stands. Entry into the seats went very well for a large crowd that had to be wanded and have bags checked as you entered the grandstands. The only real change from my last visit was the traffic snafu as fans left the track. Nine years ago I complimented the track on how well it handled the traffic. This time the traffic exiting the property and onto the area highways was terrible. It took me over an hour before I cleared the Ridgeway VA traffic snarl and was able to continue the trip at a reasonable speed.

Great weekend at the paperclip , first time at this track and between the fans the hot dogs and racing. I couldn't have asked for a better time. Thanks again NASCAR

Handicap Parking The speedway website advises to have your handicap placard clearly visible on entry which we did. We stopped to ask a traffic control person where handicap parking was. He did not know. He had us do a u-turn and told us to park at the next right parking area. That was employee parking, of course we were ran out. That attendant told us to cross the road and turn right where the attendant in green vest was . We did and were promptly turned out as that was VIP parking. We proceeded on and finally saw signs indicating ADA Parking. After parking we had a short walk to shuttle stand. Jest of this, too many parking employees had no knowledge of parking areas or were simply moving their problem on to someone else without regard to the customer. Pre-race ticket, not worth $35 to stand on the track for view easily see from stands. Entry to stands Tickets were purchased online, waiting in line to have tickets scanned and backpack searched was fairly short. Sitting Seats were numbered without any type marking to indicate seat position, which would not have been a problem except for the 5 or 6 350 pound plus people in our row which left us squashed together very uncomfortable. Someone or multiple chose to smoke pot off and on during the entire race. Never saw who it was but definitely smelled it as did the people around us. Famous Hotdog Once and done. Local JROTC ran the hotdog stand behind section M in Blue Ridge Tower. They did not take cards and had no change. My all the way hotdog had one teaspoon of chili right in the middle, the dog was not fully cooked. Nasty at best. I guess the kids had no training. Air show The pre race parachutists followed by antique planes was awesome. It was the best part of the entire experience. Race Good view of track from our seats Fairly boring race. Happy for HMR 40th anniversary but the race was BORING.

Close to home, some of the best action in racing. Great value on tickets and food in the track.

I had a complimentary Free Inspection and first Oil change there following my purchase. Approximately a year and a half later, the 2017 Nissan Sentra's were recalled nationally due to a flaw in the design of the back brake lights becoming inoperable on many cars because the location of the wiring was melting near the location of the CPV transmission. It was recommended that I take my vehicle to a Nissan dealership to have it repaired for free. That is when I discovered the Gunter Nissan of Martinsville and what professional, adequately prompt service they administered to my vehicle. I felt welcomed and appreciated as they gave me personal care and advice about my vehicle. I have learned things from the mechanics about my car in how to make it last longer and get better service and mileage out of it. Since, I have had some oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements and even the transmission flushed so accurately. I now have over 110,000 miles on it and it is still good as new. I trust these incredible technicians and mechanics and I wouldn't take my vehicle anywhere else.

Supposedly they had already done it so I had to accept it. You know like the extra groceries they charge you for at the store and you have to buy them because they already put them in the bag, or the when the plumber charged you for a new toilet though you only wanted it un-clogged but he already installed it, oh and it happens to be one them Japanese high tech toilets so it's thousands extra. But wait Gunter Automotive doesn't have a cool off period, and yes this it is in the contract so if you change your mind, suddenly they ain't so friendly no more. You are out of luck. Every other dealership I have ever dealt with has a return policy. And NO Gunter does not point this out for obvious reasons. So, I am just saying that, that is their policy I am sure most people will love to find this out. Here is the other great thing about Gunter. Their interest rates are the same even if the term period is shorter. All other finance companies will give you a lower interest rate for a shorter term (that is how long it will take to pay for the car) for those who may not know. Come to find out that they also assign your contract (basically sell it to another lender) and yet they may keep part of keep part of the intertest collected. How convenient. And yes that is right on the contract. I will continue to look into the business policies of these great people and keep you posted.

Problem #2: called on Monday morning to be informed that they could not even look at until Wednesday; would call me back then. One might think a stranded motorist would get some priority, but no. No call by mid-afternoon Wednesday. I called to be told that they were just getting to it. Nearing closing time and no call, so I called again. Diagnosis was no fuel to engine from pump in the tank. Replacement of pump would cost over $800, which seemed extremely high for a bolt-on part. I asked for the cost break down and was informed the pump cost was $464. Problem #3, that price is extremely high. I found a genuine Bosch OEM replacement part on Amazon for $174. I called an offered to have the part drop-shipped. They admitted that they are allowed to install customer parts but refused to accept my Amazon part shipment, with concerns about getting the wrong part. I told them I would accept full responsibility for all labor if I sent the wrong part, but they would not give in. They use O'Reiley parts all the time and the O'Reiley counter price for the part is $274. But they would only give me their "Matrix" price for the O'Reiley part which turns out to be about the same as the Nissan part. They knew they had me over a barrel. They gave me a $50 coupon discount on the job, but I still got screwed out of $240. An to add insult to injury, of four promises to call me by a specific time they never called; I had to call back each time.
