I wish they would open up this Super Market in North Carolina. We spent $120.00 here for what we…read moreusually pay $175.00 in NC super markets. I know , amazing. Great selections in every area. The meat department has excellent cuts of steaks at great prices. Huge selection of wine. Many of the stores carry liquor, this one does not. But I have been to the ones that do carry alcohol and they do carry everything. It is unbelievable inexpensive too. The customer service is great. Erik at the customer service area was very helpful and attentive. Since we are coming to South Bend so much we got the Martins advantage card. They have a great app also that gives you all the specials and advantages. Since I have retired , I have done most of the shopping and know the pricing of items we usually buy. Martins is low low low compared to the other stores. If you have never been to a Martins , give it a try. Oh yes, they have a robot that goes up and down the isles, scanning on quantity and directly sends the information to the office for re stocking( see pic ).

I was told when products get near their expiration date, they put them on sale. I asked if this was the right way to do business and no one would answer me. I am74 and have shopped at Martin's for many years. I will now shop somewhere else.

I crave the kimchee, fish sauce, bonito flakes, miso paste, every sort of seaweed, and critter parts you just can't find anywhere! Ever wanted to try chicken feet and cocks combs? Breadfruit? Cockles?Limpets? Tried 'em all. Only the breadfruit was "meh", but even Cap'n Bligh had trouble getting the Polynesians excited about 'em. Won't always carry the same exotics, especially in the freezer section, but you can RELY on them to carry the staples, and at prices the big stores can't beat. Enormous bottles of Thai fish sauce that beat those piddly supermarket squirts! Huge bags of addictive shrimp chips! YUM!!!! Don't be put off by labels in Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, etc. The owners know their products and can tell you how to use them. They also carry items for Arab and African customers. They may say Saigon Market, but they're very international, and the friendliest people on earth! They own their entire parking lot. So take your time! Browse to your heart's content! Please respect that they do not wish to provide parking for all their neighbors. Do bring your children. Help them learn about the world through this wonderful store. It has interesting smells. Please teach them to be polite about those odors. Different is not bad; it's interesting! Look online for easy recipes before visiting the store. Engage the owners' help in finding and using ingredients. It will be a treat the kids will never forget! Yeah, I love this place!

Inconsistency is big! The employees at the cheese counter might as well be wearing a big badge that says we don't want to talk to you about cheese or help you go away! The discount bread are always just regular full size loaves that are about to go bad and thy cut them in half so it's no cheaper. The entire store is small dark and the workers just don't care to help much at all. Forget the days of someone asking if they can help you find something! There's really no reason to come here anymore since I can make my own sourdough now. Until Amazon take the time to fix this place I'll only be visiting the ones in Indy that are not as cramped are better lit and feel like a grocery store and not a overpriced dungeon full of organic items wrapped in no recyclable plastic.

We like running through Farmers Markets whenever we are in a new city - and this time we had a…read morechance to visit the South Bend, Indiana Farmer's Market ... and you should too. This Market is a year-round affair, so you can get Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (FFV) during the summer and fall months right from local growers; in the off seasons they purchase out of state FFV and thus are still able to offer better produce than one usually finds in the big supermarkets. This particular Farmer's Market is enclosed - as it would have to be to be year-round in the Midwest. There are roughly 50 individual sellers in the entire setup - which is laid out as a pair of stacked boxes - the middle being washrooms and the like. All the stalls face inside in a double row ... the center portion of the boxes being where sellers can back up their trucks. There is a little diner restaurant on one side that offers a bunch of nice meals - breakfast food and when we were there pulled pork nachos (yum). There is also a bakery stall. They have parking on site, but it is just barely enough for the crowds the Market attracts. We liked this market because it really was mostly FFV and not a bunch of stalls selling candles and the like. There even are a couple of stalls selling meat - at least one fresh and one frozen. Give this place a try and you'll like it.
