If I could give more stars I would. This is by far the best dentist I have been to for everything. To start with, the office is very comforting and the front desk ladies are so kind. I always get treated by Dr. Loy who is the kindest doctor I have ever met. I have always had extreme dental anxiety due to previous experiences and was terrified of getting the much needed work done on my teeth. Dr. Loy and her team extracted my wisdom teeth using conscious sedation and it was so quick and easy, and I was very comfortable and at ease. I have also had multiple cavities filled so far and every time I go I leave feeling more confident that I can let go of my prior dental fears. I've been going to this dentist for three years. The dentist himself is great with trying to help me fix issues from previous Dentist. However, I feel like every single time I go in I have cavities and work that needs to be done on teeth that I have already had work done prior to this dentist or don't even have pain. However, his staff often runs late with cleaning and short Follow up appointments. On previous appointments, I have waited in the waiting room for over 45 minutes just to have sensitivity added onto my teeth which is less than a 15 minute appointment. What has led me to write my review is the scheduling and lack of availability as this a has been an issue many times for me. I called because I had conflicts with the scheduling and asked if there was other scheduling options and the earliest date they had is September. I asked to keep my date in July and put on the waitlist, however I was canceled and rescheduled to September, which is what I did not want. I called numerous times in the afternoon. No one answered, and I left a voicemail. I called the following morning and they had already given my original July appointment to someone else and did not take any responsibility or did not receive any apology as they kept saying I confirmed placing blame on me. The front office staff is never working in a timely manner by making me wait numerous times after appointments as well to close out/ finish paying. After being patient with them after numerous occasions, I have decided to move forward with a different dentist because I am very disappointed by my treatment for the past three years. read more

Came in a few years ago. My tooth implant fell out of my mouth. Implant was not done here. The dentist gave his disclaimer of being inexperienced. He bloodied up my mouth. Put the tooth in backwards. The next day I went to real dentist to fix the tooth, it has been in ever since. Noticed credit report had money I owed. Called office. Told I should have gone back to them, would you. Remember when dentist offices were scary and you didn't want to go? Well not here, this is the first and only dentist where I felt at home, no anxiety. I can honestly say I now look forward to my appointments. The front desk staff greet you and know you by name, very welcoming. Majority of the staff is bilingual in English and Spanish. The office is clean and quiet. Each area has a t.v. and a remote to customize your viewing pleasure. They make you feel comfortable one time I was cold and they offered a warm fleece blanket. Dr. Martinez is very nice and has a warm bedside manner. He wants you to be healthy along with a beautiful smile. I needed to have a tooth pulled, one of my molars he advised the best plan including a implant. He allowed me to think about the plan before jumping right into pulling the tooth. It was a multi step process but now I have the comfort of knowing my mouth is healthy and I can smile about it. read more

Late Friday afternoon, during my trip to Amelia Island, I ended up with a broken molar. Most of the dentist offices were either closed or getting ready to close.l searched for Martinez dental clinic in Jacksonville, and they were kind enough to take me on an emergency basis. I had to drive 46 miles, however they were willing to wait for me. The staff was excellent and Dr Martinez removed my tooth in minutes! Dr. Martinez... Very upset to pull my daughter out of school only to find out after I got here that they do not allow parents to stay with their children during the appointment. My daughter is only seven years old and I have never had a medical or dental practice prohibit me from staying with her. If you have children and are considering this practice as an option for your whole family, be aware that they will not allow you to stay with your child. We left without receiving any services because neither myself nor my daughter were comfortable without me being able to be with her during the appointment. This policy should have been clearly communicated to me before the appointment to avoid the uncomfortable situation it created for myself and my daughter and wasting everyone's time. read more

I have been going to Dr. Martinez for years and now my children also go there. The facility is absolutely gorgeous with state of the art equipment. The office staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are thorough and make sure you know and understand everything including cost up front. The draw for me though is always Dr Martinez. He is personable and professional. He goes out of his way to make patients feel comfortable. I hate going to the dentist and generally get anxious. Dr Martinez understands hesitations and makes sure you feel okay throughout the entire process. He also strives to be as proactive as possible and take care of small issues immediately before they become large issues. I gave 4 stars only because the reminders for appointments drive me crazy!!!! For any given appointment I will get 5 texts, email, and multiple phone calls- even if I confirm via text. I'm a busy working Mom and all the reminders are annoying. Imagine yourself at a late afternoon movie. The previews are over and you decide to delve into the ridiculously expensive snacks you purchased at the concession stand -- specifically, milk duds. You pop one piece and begin to chew, but then, with the release of your jaw...a ten year-old filling in one of your back molars comes free! The pain is excruciating and you need help immediately. Enter, Dr. Martinez and his staff at Southpoint Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry. From the reception staff to the treatment room, the staff was helpful and compassionate -- a rare find considering that by the time I got there, it was 4:30 PM -- and did I mention this happened on a FRIDAY? Kristen, the practice manager, worked to fit me in to the doctor's schedule. The front desk staff was expecting me when I got there. Sasha, the assistant in the treatment room, was fabulous and helped to keep me calm -- a difficult task since, let's be honest, who enjoys emergency dental procedures? -- not me! Dr. Martinez was extremely kind and gentle. Oddly, I can't wait to go back for my follow-up appointment in two weeks. Seriously, it's true. The office is beautiful and conveniently located -- although I would drive anywhere to get to Dr. Martinez. It is hard to find a good dentist, especially one with a staff as great as his. I have been trying to find a Dentist in the area, as I am new to Jacksonville. I was referred by a friend to Dr. Martinez. I went in for my first appointment which is mostly a consultation. Dr. Martinez was aware of the fact that I was nervous, hence I've been going to the same dentist for years. I felt uncomfortable with the staff as they were not knowledgable enough to handle my insurance nor were they great at explaining the billing. I decided not to go back to Dr. Martinez, in which I was charged $20 to have my X-ray's scanned over to my new dentistry. The staff told me that it was a normal procedure (they are wrong), I've never had an office charge me a fee to secure already paid for X-rays. They also mentioned the $20 fee was due to HIPPA (wrong again), HIPPA has nothing to do with the fee...all they needed was my authorization to release the records which was given. Since they accepted my insurance, this $20 fee was supposed to be covered under insurance...not billed to me. Now my insurance company has to get involved, they are not happy with the customer service of this office either. The whole process has been a pain.... read more
