There is also the friendly service that comes accustomed with most newsagents. I walked in and the chappy behind the counter said " Bloody wet aint it" and I responded with "I know, tell me about it" (While shaking of rain from my coat) There you have it, a brief exchange and we now have a friendly bond, and I feel like he is a mate of mine (granted one who doesn't say much and sells me things... and come to think of it never visits, but still a mate).

I like this - it makes you feel like you've discovered a magazine rather than like WHSmith where they have 20 neatly piled up in your face (with the free CD missing). They also have a good selection of chocolate, most noteably Freddos. Possibly the finest of all the supposed-to-be-for-children chocolates. Staff are on the ball and polite!

If there is an item that you are wanting on a regular basis they will order it in for you. They have a large counter displaying various sweets and chocolates, and further around the store there are more bagged sweets, crisps, and items for you to pick and bag up to choose from. They also stock quite a wide range of stationary products which is useful. I do however find the service a little lacking in sparkle.

As if they've followed the recommend guidelines on building a newsagent, they tick all the boxes. Newspapers and magazines are displayed clearly, with kid's comics nearer the floor and the sweets. After the sweets you have the chocolates then the crisps and sandwiches. There are a few knick knacks that make them separate to the rest scattered about but mostly it's pretty standard. This shop's diamond is from the outside; the windows covered in signs and adverts for local businesses and services. Some are a little outdated but it's well worth the hunt!

The shop is well laid out as you enter you are met by special offers and promotions. The store always seems to be well stocked and have a good range of promotions. They sell some stationary and packaging items which is very useful for customers who are using the post office and have not go everything they need as they can buy envelopes, packaging tape, marker pens etc. The shop has a huge range of cars which are separated into categories to make finding the right card for the event much quicker and easier. There are usually two members of staff behind the counter and they are always quick to serve customers although I have heard them moaning about the working conditions and they are not very well mannered at times!

This comic book and sci-fi mega store is every boys dream and every girl's nightmare. Be prepared to lose several very important shopping hours here. Having said that, it's easy to admire the scale of the store and the quality of the goods they have to offer. Even I, a sci-fi phobic, enjoyed flicking through the comic books and eyeing up the DVDs. It's a great place to shop for presents for boyfriends, friends and little brothers. And, luckily for me, the shop assistants are so helpful so even the clueless can pick the perfect stocking filler.

Also available in this large outlet in the Westway Precinct are cards, magazines and newspapers, stationery, books, gifts, chocolate and sweets and toys. The store is light and well laid out, functional if not particularly imaginative. There is a tobacconists counter at the main till, and you can also buy National Lottery tickets here (and claim your rewards if you are one of the lucky winners!) Phone top-ups also available. It is well-staffed so there's always someone on hand to ask about stock, and various specialist hobby magazines can be ordered upon request.

When I initially walked past the store, I wasn't sure what it was and whether to go in. There is no window display or big name telling you what it is, instead there's a slightly fake looking American beach house exterior. Going in, you are greeted by good looking sales assistants in checked shirts and inside the lights are low and the music is pumping. It's designed to look like a club inside, you even pay at a bar. It's definitely an experience, if a little pretentious seeming.

It was so dark people were almost bumping into each other, well, I exaggerate slightly here but it really was a little shady compared to the normal bright lights of a clothes shop! Once I had adjusted to the lighting, I was further set back by the lack of price tags on garments, I looked around but could see very little indication of price! This shops, cool in the casually cool kind of way and the staff looked like they all knew just how cool they looked, will appeal to certain groups of people for sure!
