Over 6 years ago my Mom and Dad used them to help pack, sell and move the home. They had to move quickly as Dad had health issues and they needed to get in to a retirement community. Mom was the cleanest and neatest pack rat you will have ever met but she kept too many collectables, papers and stuff. My Mom filed complaints back then and told us how bad it was dealing with them but too make a long story short only reason I am posting now is that Mom just passed recently and as we were cleaning out her apt we found all the paper work from the move and subsequent letters from my Mom complaining and asking for breakdowns of sales, merchandise, etc. Seems they were charged thousands more by Kerri Shimp than quoted and were basically told to go stuff themselves. What set me off to write this review was I found out as we were cleaning out the apt from another local company they were told personally by Kerri that she was going to take every dollar she could from my parents. My warning is look elsewhere before hiring them and whatever you do DO NOT TRUST or HIRE KERRI SHIMP

They went through their house & almost took everything!!! They didn't even ask my parents what they could take. They took furniture, a new refrigerator, clothing, dishes, computers, even their towels & bedding! Also some very precious antiques!! My parents were given back 400.00. The furniture that they did keep, were damaged in the move. The owner of this business told my parents that they would have to take it up with the mover? Are you kidding me??? From my experience of having rented most of my life, Michelle made sure that my 50-year-old butt was right at home. She is very technically and tactically proficient with attention to detail. Our experience with EPM Iowa was an absolute nightmare and ultimately resulted in their management services being terminated. Instead of protecting our investment, we believe they repeatedly failed to act in our best interests as the property owners, to include ruining the rental experience for our tenants. Based on our documented experience, we believe EPM repeatedly failed to provide the level of transparency, oversight, and property management services that we expected under our management agreement. Throughout our time as clients, we experienced recurring problems involving communication, contractor oversight, documentation, billing, and decision-making that, in our opinion, fell well below our expectations for a professional property management company. We hired a property manager so we could be hands-off and focus on other responsibilities--precisely the service EPM advertises on its website. When it was observed that things weren't handled as expected, we started to micromanage. If you can't trust them with the small stuff, you can't trust them with the BIG stuff. Over the course of managing our Waterloo properties, we experienced repeated issues including incomplete, partial and/or substandard work as well as improper estimates and a lack of clearly defined scopes of work. EPM repeatedly ignored requests for documentation/proof of completed work. This lack of transparency made it nearly impossible to hold contractors accountable when problems arose.
