We had a jeep engine rebuilt last year as husband is restoring - they did a good job but they told…read moreus to bring it in when the jeep was done so they could tune it - my husband did just that the other day and when he walked in the door the guy said that he had bought the business and he wasn't honoring any warranties or repairs from the previous owners - looked like some kind of Counting Cars wannabe, extremely rude, - we have passed the word to two of the car clubs in town - buyer beware!

I had bought a 1 ton ford 4 wheel drive crew cab and tool bed with a 460 ci motor. I had bought it…read morewith the intention of rebuilding the motor. I hadn't ordered the parts yet because I was waiting on the machine shop to see if I need any nonstandard bearings. Luckily the machine shop was backed up. A coworker of mine had heard about Means motors and said I should check their prices. They quoted the entire assembled long block for cheaper than I could have my heads milled and rebuilt not even counting what the block might cost me. I drove the truck home after putting the engine in (about an hour) Changed the oil when I got home .. I ran the crap out of that truck it had a PTO driven air compressor so it ran all of the time.I had thought to put an hour meter in it when I put the engine in.The truck had just over 2000 hours on it when I sold it. I really needed a truck with a crane on it and the one ton just wasn't big enough. I had the engine set up so it would automatically kick up when the air pressure got low. So the engine would race up & down all of the time.I changed the oil every 100 hours and it never used any. I sold that truck 5 years ago & I still see it driving around town. The reason it took me so long to write a review is because when things work right you don't think about them. I am getting ready to restore a late 60s ford and the first place I thought of was Means motors.I won't think twice about another means motor.I don't even know if they do different levels of performance or not but I am hoping they can build me some ponies. After I wrote this review I read some of the others & I have to say I am surprised. All I can think of is maybe it is because I didn't use them to install the long block. It is hard to say but I am a happy customer.
