Well... NEVER in my whole life have I ever experienced such RUDENESS from people that work in the interest of the public. My brother is a first time buyer and saw a house for sale that really sparked his interest. He called Martin & Co and spoke to a woman named JANE. JANE'S attitude was absolutely DISGUSTING! The way she spoke to my brother was totally uncalled for! She questioned his affordability with a degrading attitude and the whole conversation was awful! Because of his interest in the property, he rang back to ask to speak to somebody else (I was on a 3 way call at this point) and AGAIN JANE WAS RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I rang back myself to ask how I go about making a complaint and spoke to said JANE but she said her name was KAREN (You can't make this up...) I informed KAREN that I will be making a formal complaint and I expressed to her that JANE and her attitude were AWFUL and that isn't the way you speak to somebody who is interested in buying a property... It seemed so odd that KAREN sounded exactly like JANE and that Martin & Co have 2 women in one office that have a DIABOLICAL ATTITUDE... Being a BLACK woman I am VERY passionate within the way I speak when it comes to DISRESPECT! KAREN (JANE) said that I was shouting at her when in fact I wasn't shouting, I was expressing my views on the AWFUL attitude of these women that works in that office. For me, it is VERY evident that KAREN & JANE clearly have a PROBLEM and I will be taking this as FAR as I can take it! What a WEIRD, RUDE, and DISGUSTING experience to have!!! Young girl who records on off her iPhone when you walk in. My recent experience with the staff at Martin and Co was deeply disappointing and upsetting. i walked in with a young girl facing her camera towards me ask I asked if she was recording? a Karen by the name of Abbey popped up and started saying "she's allowed to record" then she displayed racially insensitive behavior, frequently using microaggressions that made me feel unwelcome and disrespected. Their tendency to raise their voices and belittle me during our interactions was particularly disturbing. These behaviors are unacceptable in any professional setting. Microaggressions, whether intentional or not, create a hostile and uncomfortable environment. Raising one's voice and belittling customers or clients is not only unprofessional but also harmful to the recipient's dignity and self-worth. I strongly urge the management to address these issues immediately. Staff training on cultural sensitivity, effective communication, and professional behavior is crucial to prevent such incidents in the future. Now that I've finally moved out of a Martin & Co property, I feel comfortable enough to write a review without risking them giving me trouble, not that they haven't already given me trouble anyway. I've bided my time for 2 whole years... waiting for the opportunity to finally share my thoughts. Strap in folks, this is gonna get long so I'll summarise it at the beginning for you: MARTIN & CO IS LITERALLY THE WORST ESTATE AGENT I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE Let's start off pre-rental. My partner and I were looking to move to Cardiff and we were looking for flats. We are very much a "get it done" couple and we were focused on just moving to Cardiff that as long as a place was decent enough and liveable without any obvious issues, we fill in paperwork immediately and get it sorted ASAP. From the way Martin & Co acted, you would think that they weren't keen on getting people to move in at all. -- THE INSPECTION -- My partner works in Cardiff, so we organised for him to go to the inspection. He went to the entrance to the block of flats like they organised and... NO ONE SHOWED UP??? He let me know, so we rang them and they apparently FORGOT so we had to re-arrange. When he tried calling them no one picked up the phone for ages. 5 rings later... we finally got an appointment. Bear in mind, my partner works 9-5 and we lived far from Cardiff so needing to arrange time off for him to go to an inspection was actually big deal for us and it isn't convenient at all. FINALLY, we got in for an inspection time and arranged to sign the paperwork. -- SIGNING THE PAPERWORK -- We went to their office to get the paperwork signed and I SHIT YOU NOT SOME UNIVERSITY-AGED STUDENT CAME IN OUT OF BREATH AND SAID "Hey... just popping in because I'm supposed to have an inspection at this time and no one came" LOLOLOL????? There were 2 women at the office, one dealing with us and another woman at the computer. The phone started ringing and NEITHER of them bothered answering it. OK I understand that the woman speaking to us was busy but the other employee there could've easily answered it or at least taken a message? At least this explains why no one picked up when we tried ringing about the missed appointment. This is just standard practice for them! Oh and by the way when we were gonna get our keys the woman dealing with us spoke to her colleague "oh where are the keys?" The other colleague said "the last tenant hasn't returned them and we can't reach her so we'll get it re-cut". Cool - just gonna let a random person have a set of keys to our flat then? No problem. Needless to say we put the deadbolt on every time we went to fucking bed. -- MOVING OUT -- Finally thank god it's move-out time. They completely wrecked the bond by saying that we painted a wall which we didn't? It was probably bad of us to not even bother fighting it though because losing some money is way better than fighting them over it as it probably would've taken 5 years of my freaking life when I just wanted to move on and wipe these events from my memory. We gave them ample notice that we were moving out and as it got closer to the time we had no indication of finalising paperwork so we had to ring them and they said "oh sorry we forgot" LOL --- Honestly, if I had to go back in time and wait 1 more month or so before moving to Cardiff I would. Dealing with Martin & Co with all their incompetence was just too much. I know that you can't really pick your real estate agent and if you find your dream house you found your dream house but I PROMISE YOU - IT'S NOT WORTH IT! Or at least get someone who can be your power of attorney and deal with all of this for you because it was unbelievably stressful. read more

Where to start from. Never responded to queries, 1 month late in fixing washing machine (poor job), was 2 days late in installment paycheck and got angry threatening call that I had to leave the premises. I was promised to pay monthly after my 6 months that I would pay in advance but when the time came, nobody knew anything about it and I was forced to pay 6 months advanced again. lost 1/3 of my deposit for things that were even worse when I got the apartment. IT WAS THE WORSE DECISION IN MY LIFE NOT TO LOOK UP THEIR REPUTATION BEFORE LETTING WITH THEM. PLEASE DON'T DO THE SAME MISTAKE. read more

Absolute jokers. Went to view a property, was stuck in traffic so I had a anxious agent who was obviously keen to go to the pub ringing me and sigh'ing while I was on my way. Turned up, took 20 seconds to show me the whole house and then ushered me out. I was keen to have the property, he said he was still doing more viewings, didn't reply to my texts. As a former tenant I would say, like many others here, to avoid this place at all costs!! **Very over priced "Agency Fees"** - Most places are extortionate, so this is understandable. **Extremely poor customer service** - Reported numerous repairs to them regarding the property that were NEVER actually completed over my tenancy - one of which was a kitchen tap that was never repaired. ** Disorganised** - Had to get a key cut FOR THEM - as they had lost their set of manger keys - had gone back and forth on numerous occasions in my own time for their ineptness. Finally, during my checkout they retained a portion of my deposit for "Cleaning" - after cleaning the flat myself I was charged £99 for their contractors to clean a studio flat of 3 rooms. I have had great experience with previous letting agents and they do unfairly get a bad reputation, however: - MARTIN & CO CARDIFF ARE THE MOST DISORGANISED AND ABYSMAL EXCUSE FOR A LETTING AGENT THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF EXPERIENCING - the majority of the reviews are correct in reflecting this too. I contacted Martin & Co via Rightmove over a week ago and had no response and have followed this up with 2 phone calls. On both occasions someone was meant to call me back but this never happened. This is remarkable given that I was trying to view a property to purchase for investment purposes. Very poor service indeed and I am only writing this review so that people who are attempting to sell their properties can understand why maybe this isn't happening!!! read more

No no no do NOT sign anything for this agency. They told me multiple bare faced lies about the property to get me to sign a tenancy agreement and once signed they ignored everything I needed help with - nothing in flat worked even the shower, there was mould in multiple places and a million other problems. Save yourself a few thousand and AVOID til they go out of business like they deserve to. read more
