Sandy Springs is 2nd stop on Marta's Red Line if you're going southbound (Downtown or airport) It's 2nd to the last stop if you're going Northbound. If you're going to the airport just stay on this train and ride it all the way to the end (approx. 41 minutes with 17 stops) If you're transferring to the Gold Line you can do so at Lindbergh station (13 minutes 4th stop from here) Marta's Red Line stops are of the following: Marta's Red Line stops are of the following: 1. North Springs 2. Sandy Springs (you are here) 3. Dunwoody 4. Medical Center 5. Buckhead 6. Lindbergh Center (joins gold line) ** 7. Arts Center ** 8. Midtown ** 9. North Avenue ** 10. (limit 2 per one adult) $1.00 for seniors, disabled riders and medicare recipients For more information on fares and Marta stations http://www.itsmarta.com/Default.aspx FYI- College Park, Doraville, Lindbergh and North Springs stations are all $8.00 long term parking. Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Kensington, Lenox and Sandy Springs are all $5.00 for long term parking. Most of the people that get on and off this stop are mainly office workers. As for shopping you need to head on to the next stop which is Dunwoody station. That's where Perimeter mall is located. There are tons of parking spaces here (over 2300 spaces available) I've never felt uncomfortable leaving my car here or felt unsafe at this Marta location. Parking is $5.00 here per day. It's free if it's less than 24 hrs. I can't say this about every station but Sandy Springs, North Springs, Dunwoody and Medical Center are all pretty clean, safe and well maintained station. But you should always keep an eye on your belongings and exercise common sense. I should add that there are a couple of places to eat around there but they require about 10-15 minutes of walk. (Chick Fil A and Atlanta Bread Company) I've walked it and it's not the worst but it's a bit of a hike so if you're wearing heels.... 1042nd review 12/26/2017

Parking has always available for me. By offering shelter from the elements, there's no reason to let precipitation cast a gloomy shadow on your commute. Just a heads up, Northlake Pl is a private road and inconveniently becomes unavailable between 1630-1830. Sandy Springs Station is missing a star due to the strong smell of urine and the trash in the stairwells. Additionally, the Express bus route should have present a schedule of some sort. As of the time of this review, it no longer runs to the North Springs Station. So many people that aren't familiar with the area (or smartphones) inquire to passersby as to when the bus may arrive. A schedule would mitigate that issue.

Nice station however a bit confusing. Know the street name you are going to because there are two ways out. One is the bus bay attached to the shopping plaza and the other is across th highway. Clean spot and they also have see through elevators. Nice touch

DO NOT!!! Do not park your car here it will get broken into, multiple cars at once, no security. They don't even reimburse you for 3 days of parking after your window gets busted out. $15 I paid then walked to car and broken into. $200+ for a window nothing stolen nothing in it to steal or in plain sight. Couldn't even get $15

Just love that smell of B.O. and curry, combined with urine on the elevator floor. Moved away from others in elevator as much as I could.

Going to the airport is my main use of this station. This is suburban so cleaner than the in town stations. Occasionally use it to go to town, which is good deal as you get free parking for 24 hours. See pics of platform and parking. I usually load multiple trips on my Marta card, as they give you a discount. In any case very reasonable price. Be aware on the train as this is a public area.

Marta just replaced eliminated bases and DID NOT THINK TO TELL PAYING CUSTOMERS. Marta said for months there would be better routes, and that routes would change. There was no communication that they were eliminating buses at the station. This effects how people get to work, it that they care. Me and another customer asked why the bus was LATE, And he said it was because the route changes (so much for more frequent rides/times). Also, the imbecile who is driving the route does not even know how his schedule has changed. And didn't care about the people who were paying to ride his bus (they make you pay via credit card now). The customer service is atrocious, as is the homeless people who ruin the experience. If you are an visitor, DO NOT TRUST MARTA to get you where you need to go (or communicate adequately to assist you).

Unfortunately, the location of a station usually determines the level of upkeep & cleanliness. For the most part, the stations from Buckhead to North Springs are in pretty good condition with ample places to sit & such. Station Highlights: *Daily & long-term parking - free for less than 24 hours *Local, regional & shuttle bus connections *Surrounded by Perimeter Mall, the central business district, numerous restaurants & multi-family residential areas. *Outdoor platform with various sheltered seating. Both Marta & Dunwoody Law Enforcement are present here, perhaps due to the annex to Perimeter Mall.

Horrible Experience. Incompetence at its highest!…read more If you are an out-of-towner, trying to catch a train to the airport for the first time, be aware of hometown incompetence. I missed my flight because I could not get past the gate. Is it a simple task? By a ticket somewhere? That ticket allows you to pass the gate to board the train. Seems logical. However, Atlantans, I've found, get hedged in this. You have to be in the know to know what is happening. If not, you are just an outsider, and you will pay the price of inconvenience and not knowing. I get to the Dunwoody Train Station to catch a train to the airport. First problem I see is I see the gates to enter, but first question that pops up is, where do I go to purchase the ticket, pass, or whatever it is that I need? Am I to guess? I see three (3) electronic screens to the left, then to the right, some 20 ft away, I see some more - maybe four huge electronic boards. So, the first question I ask is why there isn't a huge sign that says TRAIN TICKETS to the airport purchase here. No, I went to the left, trying to figure out from those screens - wasted 15 minutes and had to press the intercom only to find out these screens are for PARKING ONLY! Why doesn't a sign say so? Go to the right only to be met with a barrage of silver buttons - 50 of them. Okay, what should I press and what should I get? A paper ticket? A pass? All I want is a train ticket. I put the credit card in to get what I thought was a train ticket to the airport, but it wouldn't take my card. I tried cash - it didn't work. This big confusing board of silver buttons. All that is needed is a simple label to the left or right of the buttons saying TRAIN TO AIRPORT. Later, I learned there are videos showing you step by step how to get Marta Passes or buy tickets. But remember, I am an out-of-towner--NO ONE TOLD me there was a video to watch prior to getting to the confusing station. It should be simple enough for anyone who gets there to follow the simple steps. And, that is the other thing - absolutely, NO HELP. Where is the person on the Intercom to help me figure it out and press the right buttons to get a ticket? This is southern Atlanta, and they don't think about how to make this process easy for out-of-towners and first-timers. They assume everybody's watched the videos!

This cuts out the $50 a day for hotel parking, the Doraville station has surface & parking deck areas, two nights was $16. Lenox station is cheaper FYI. I had only rode Marta one other time before this and it was over 10 years prior, I was mainly traveling solo on Marta this time. For the Doraville station be sure not to park in the front parking as this is NOT overnight and you will be towed. The ticketed parking is just beside with minimal security. Doraville is the gold line that goes into Lenox where the race starts; our stop was Peachtree center. The trick to going from Peachtree back to Lenox is to know that both red & gold run on same track, which I didn't. I got on the train saying North Springs and ended up at Medical Center before realized, rode back to Lindbergh then gold to Lenox. The train itself is minimally occupied unless a big event is going on. It was somewhat clean as meaning no visible trash. There are homeless persons all around the escalators underground and you may get accosted on the platform but just be smart. I put the Breeze mobile app on and bought 3 day pass for $16, my main issue was the QR code picking up on the scanner. The last time I was here, the elevator was broken so I had to carry hella luggage down the stairs and that was pretty disastrous. But it is what it is.
