Lovely smelling shop, which specializes in lardy cake. They sell two types: standard, and one with more of everything (or so it seemed when one of the very friendly servers told us about them) and a dark sugar syrup glaze. Apparently lardy cake has now been found to be better for you, and to contain much less 'bad' fats than expected (I think something about the cooking process changes the fats?). Anyway apparently there was a radio broadcast saying so and they'd sold out an hour later
Anyway we got pasties. Spinach and feta did look tempting, but between us we bought a traditional Cornish (though don't get me onto the subject of REAL traditional Cornish), a Wiltshire (which my mum describes as the same as a Cornish but more mashed up), and a pork and apple for me. We drove a way before eating them, but they were still piping hot. My flaky pastry was delicious and slightly stretchy.
