When I started to write something (I won't call it a review) for Josefa, I wasn't ready. I wanted what I wrote to mean something and to reflect how I feel about the affect she's had on my life. So, I'll take a shot now, but I'm still not sure I can do her justice. Josefa is a truly gifted person. She not only had an almost immediate understanding of the person I was, but also a tremendous insight into 'why I was' and how I could be the person I wanted to be. It's interesting because I had visited a counselor on and off over many years, whom I thought was good. However, in just two coaching sessions with Josefa, I discovered things about myself that I had neither thought of nor discussed, previously. Over the course of working with Josefa for a few months, she helped me to better understand myself, which led to quite a change in the way I feel about myself and how I interact with the world around me. From session to session, she always was on top of what we had previously discussed and was familiar with issues that were currently affecting my life. And, she was always on point with suggestions on how to best handle situations. Furthermore, the suggestions were ones that I could carry forward with me to future issues. Does everything work out for me now exactly like I want it to... of course not. But, I can certainly handle things much better now than I previously could. It may sound like I was a basket-case prior to working with Josefa. I don't think that's the 'case', but I certainly had issues. I imagine I still do. What Jess brings to the table is something more, which was a genuine concern for my child. On one of our conversatios she said " I went on this run and I was thinking about"... she was thinking about my kid and how to help. She made me feel like we ( we because as parents, things that affect our kids affect us) were "seen." I think more often than not people get complacent in their careers, including the medical or mental health field, which I would chalk up to human nature. However, she never made me feel like my kid was number or just another patient. She was someone going through something and Jess was going to figure it out. We had to stop seeing Jess due to some circumstances out of my control. Which only lead us to a merry go round of therapists and it wasn't until then, that I was able to fully appreciate her, not only for her emotional investment in my child but also for her instincts, which were proven to be spot on. While on that mental health merry go round, I learned that not every therapist has the capability to convey a genuine sense of commitment and concern for their client/patient , however Jess did. Taking on someone else's emotional pain, trauma, anxieties and fears has to be one of the hardest jobs I could imagine, especially when it comes to children...so I can understand having and internal shut off valve and not fault anyone needing to enact that protective mechanism. But as a parent who's child hurts....I sure as shit want someone who sees my kid, as I see them. Once again I saw Jess early in her career. Jane doesn't just help our daughter, she has given me countless tools as well. I finally feel like I'm actually equipped to be a parent for the first time in 10 years. I also picked up her book Raising Humane Beings and I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in 2 days and had so many "ah-ha" moments. I've even decided to start going to her myself for non-parenting counseling as well. If you want actual results from counseling, look no further. Jane is the real deal. Edit: After reading through some of the other reviews I feel the need to add that some of the tools Jane offers may not be considered "conventional"... and that's a GOOD THING. That's why her tools actually work. Don't expect the same old song and dance you're going to get from any counselor you go to. If you go into therapy with an open mind and a willingness to do the work, you will see results immediately. An example for me was her "talking stick" exercise. I thought to myself "there's no freaking way out family is going to sit down and do talking stick"... and after Jane had my daughter and I practice it in a session, it's our new favorite thing! It instantly made me feel so much more connected to my daughter and helped her feel heard and validated. But again, having an open mind and being willing to try something different is key. You have to actually want your situation to change, otherwise no counselor or amount of therapy will work. Seems like the only negative reviews were from people that either never actually had a session with her, or went in and didn't try the tools she recommended, which says less about Jane and more about the reviewer IMO.

She is beyond exceptional…read more Despite initial hesitancy to write a review about a psychologist, I feel confident giving her a review. This is a very personal and honest review, and you can take it or leave it...but have an open mind and try to see it through my eyes. Here is my review: First about me: I have been seeing psychologists for years. Since I was a child I have been seeing specialists specifically for my ADD and eventual ADHD issues. Like many ADD disorders, they expanded further into adulthood in the form of bi-polar disorders as well....Nothing bad, its minimal, but I still need someone to help me. Simply put, I needed someone with more expertise in the field. Now onto Anne... Areas of Assistance: This in other words, means what mental issues she covers, which by the way is everything. Whether its a severe mental disorder, or simple anxiety/depression issues, she can help. To be honest, I have heard she is exceptional with those with either sexuality issues or those having relationship/interpersonal issues. But once again, she can help in any disorder or issue you might have. Style: Her style is unlike any psychologist I have seen prior. Anne helped diagnose my issues on the first visit, and her style was very much nurturing, yet to the point. Instead of giving me "psych speak" and beating around the bush, she tells you what you need to know, rather than speaking in generalities. Rather than wasting your money in numerous sessions, she gets into the details and will help you along, regardless of your issues. Room Environment: Being in so many psych rooms throughout my life, I feel like the room does make an experience better/worse. First off, her office is literally a renovated house, very comforting and quiet. Her room is even more comforting, she has a huge comfy couch you can lounge on as you speak. She also offers you something to drink on as you speak. She likes to keep it quiet and relaxing. She does also have a different twist I have never seen before: she helps rehabilitate rescue dogs and brings them back seemingly from certain doom. I think its noble, and is also very soothing for her patients. None of the dogs she brings in make a distraction, they always sit off to her side and keep away. You have nothing to worry about if you do not like dogs just ask her to put it in the back room to rest while in session. In Summary: With all this said, she is an expert in her craft. I do want to point out she does not accept any form of insurance, she is fully private and has her own going rate. If you have issues with payment, you can always speak to the front desk or Anne herself to discuss further. She is worth every penny, I can't stress how outstanding she is. She gets 5 stars for her style, ability to diagnose issues quickly, her educational background, the environment of her office, and the level of expertise. I struggle so much with focusing and paying attention to tasks for work, school, and even home. He does not seem to judge me, then again I don't tell him things that I told my last psychologist because he does not specialize in that field. I appreciate that he takes the time to suggest helpful assignments at the end of a session. He emailed me some articles once so that I could learn more about some topics we touched upon.

After I mentioned that I was moving out of my parents' home, much of the session was spent with Dr. Tregoob looking for apartments on his phone. From my perspective, this did not feel like a therapeutic exercise. Instead, he periodically pointed out available apartments in good areas and encouraged me to act quickly if I found one I liked. My recollection is that he also arrived late and ended the appointment early, and there were long periods of silence during the session. The reason this is not a 1-star review is that I had seen Dr. Tregoob several years earlier and found him knowledgeable about anxiety management. While I had noticed some similar time-management issues during those earlier visits, I felt he demonstrated genuine expertise in treating anxiety. Unfortunately, my 2025 appointment was a very different experience.
