I searched for an alternative and saw Transmissions by Lucille with a 5-star reputation. I called and the nice gentleman I spoke to said bring the car in anytime. I had it towed there this morning. He looked under the hood and found that a squirrel had placed walnuts around the shifter, jamming it! He cleaned out the debris and the transmission worked just fine again. He did not charge me a single penny for his help. I'll always look for walnuts under my hood from now on! Lucille's fast and fair treatment of me and my car is something I will not forget. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but its got heart right where it counts. When my transmission breaks for real one day, Lucille's is where I'm taking my car.

My previous mechanic had botched the job and constantly told me there was no problem. Bill, the new owner who took over after the original "Lucille" retired, treated me like an old customer with a long history at the place. He was honest, helpful and, best of all, quick. They did the job in just over an hour and, on top of that, fixed the cruise control as well. All the mechanics there were extremely nice, very professional, and completely honest. One of the hardest things, as a single woman, is to find a mechanic you can trust. I've only had one experience with the people at Transmissions by Lucille, but if the first time is any indication, I think I can recommend them to other women.

Dropped his car off and they call to say he needs new back brakes and rotors. My son being in college, decided he would put them on with his dad to save some money. When he picked up the car, he asked when he could bring it back to be re-inspected and the guy said he was booked for the next 3 weeks. In other words, because he wasn't making money, he would not re-do the inspection. Charged my son $50 for nothing, didn't even put an emission sticker on. The car is only 2 years old. I prefer going to a mechanic who doesn't want to take advantage of a college kid.
