From the start, the staff in the front promptly returned my call to set up an appointment. The hygienist, Hannah was so lovely. She had the space set up in a cozy manner with lamps and gentle music playing. Throughout each step she was communicative, careful, and attentive. Then, Dr. Patel arrived and continued to provide the same level of compassion and attentiveness. I would highly recommend this practice who anyone who has dentist appointment apprehensive like I did in the past.

He takes time to explain, and is happy to pause and take a break if needed. Gillespie is the exact opposite of this. He threatens underage patients with being held down, does not adhere to patients request for the level of numbing, and does not seem to understand the meaning of consent. I requested no numbing for a tooth being pulled - he pulled the majority of the tooth (the remainder of which later was flicked out by another dentist who didn't think I needed numbing at all), and proceeded to be emotionally/verbally abusive trying to force me into an injection. I will never return to this office, and I certainly would never dream of bringing my children here. If you're looking for a kind and decent dentist, steer clear of this office.

When I asked what to do for the pain, was told Oragel and Advil. I was out of my mind in pain, perhaps the antibiotic wasn't working since the pain only increased 10x and phoned, texted, called the emergency number on Thursday numerous times and again Friday (office closed). I even checked with my pharmacy thinking perhaps she'd call something in, a different antibiotic, anything! She didn't. I didn't get a response until the following Monday afternoon, just an angry-sounding message telling me to call her. Frankly, I would not recommend Pamela Putnam DDS for dental care. At least in my experience, she takes the "care" out of dental care.

Rude and felt unsafe…read more I was recommended to Dr. Putman's office and was immediately struck by the physical aspect of the office being a cabin, the surrounding creek and dogs that go to work. But no matter how cute a place is, no one should get treated poorly, especially in a medical environment. I went in for a filling, and when finished, it felt like I was biting on a rock. Dr. Putman said it might be because I was numb. After the numbness went away the filling was still so incredibly high. I wanted to come back in for an adjustment as soon as possible because the office was closing for an entire week. They put me on the schedule at the end of the day, the following day, which was their last day before they closed for the week. I imagine the feeling of being done for the day and wanting to be off for the week. As soon as Dr. Putman walked in she said "came in right when we're closing huh?" I immediately felt uncomfortable and felt myself shutting down. I felt a roughness from her while she was in my mouth and she even said to the assistant "she's tough, she just got a tattoo." After she did the second adjustment she said "I'm not doing anymore, if I do more it'll have to be a crown." I told her it still felt like I was biting on a rock, but it was getting better. And she sort of huffed and adjusted more, this time I really felt her in my mouth for much longer than necessary, like she was trying to just get it all the way down so I wouldn't feel it at all. And that's exactly what happened. When she finished she took her gloves off and adjusted the chair as if we were done before asking me how it felt. I even thought she had walked out. I was scared to say anything. I felt extremely uncomfortable in my body and frozen in my voice. She took a minute to ask how it felt, and I said It felt like I was biting more on my front teeth now, something I never had a problem with before. She huffed and said "okay bye" and walked out, which was the last time I saw her. I gave out a shocking "thank you?" I was completely shaken up, and am still in shock from this. I told the assistant how rude that was and the assistant actually said "I apologize for that." Which gave me confirmation I was not crazy for feeling triggered in this way. If you cannot treat your customers, clients, PATIENTS with patience and care, do not have them come in before you close or anytime when you're not able to be there for them. It's been three weeks now and I cannot chew on that tooth, as it is extremely painful and sensitive. I was told it should subside in a few days. I will have to find a new dentist to see what the next step will be into treating this tooth. On top of that, I was told at my initial new patient exam I was able to use Care Credit which I had used at that first appointment no problem. Following that appointment I was then told it could only be for $1,000 or more. This filling appointment was a "one last time" using Care Credit under the limit. Update: I was texted by the dentist saying "I'm sorry you feel this way" and was told that my appt for the follow up was earlier in the day, as if coming in before they closed was my problem, when the front desk told me to come in at that time. She went on explaining about my tooth having the unbearable pain. There was no apology or acknowledgment for how she made me feel. "I'm sorry you feel this way" is not an apology or ownership for her actions of how rude she was and uncomfortable it made me feel. The assistant texted back saying "let us know your new dentist to forward you records." Such a nice office.

I called multiple locations and no one would accept my insurance , but more importantly no one could get me in for an appointment today. As soon as Emily answered the phone at Asheville dental , I knew my luck was changing . She was so sweet and sympathetic. She made sure to explain everything to me including costs, since my insurance is no good in North Carolina and she got me in for an appointment in the afternoon. They sent me a text with all the information and a link to my paperwork so I could fill everything out before I arrived. I made sure to get there early and the offices are warm and welcoming. I gave my name in the front and they checked me in. I was called back right at my appointment time. I explained my situation and Makayla was patient and understanding. She checked my teeth and took an x-ray and made sure to verify the cost with me. Dr. Powell came in to examine me and he was absolutely wonderful. He explained the issue and provided me with lots of options . He answered all of my questions and I left feeling super hopeful and incredibly relieved. Thank you to Emily and Makayla and Dr. Powell! I hope you know what a difference you made in my life today.

There are several issues with this place. I'll elaborate. This place talked with my mom for a while…read moreon the phone, and my mom repeatedly said I have no dental insurance in their talk of several minutes. I shortly after get a text message to bring in my insurance card. That's quite unprofessional to not make notes of someone, and just giving them a generic response, which wouldn't be the first time they are inattentive either. I addressed to the nurse and Dasher that I'm vegan, which is blatantly disregarded later on, as I'll get to that soon. Also, my mom thought the plants in there were real, but I knew they were fake, and even the nurse said they're fake. Real plants help with oxygen, creativity, and other benefits. Their plants are as fake as their care. Dasher doesn't know too much flouride harms the teeth, known as fluorosis, as there's even a word for it, and thinks just spitting out fluoride means it's safe, even though it does absorb into the mouth and skin, like plenty of other things. I'm not totally against flouride either. 98% of West Europe doesn't use fluoride, and they generally have far better teeth than here in infamous bad teeth, and generally awful health America. Denmark officially has the best teeth in the world, according to reports. Japan has far better teeth, especially with NASA giving them nano-hydroxyapatite, which Dasher says is inferior to flouride, even though peer-reviewed studies say it's the same strength or better for teeth. So, the education there is pretty bad. At least Japan, among other advances in health and intelligence over America, is very close to regrowing teeth with stem cells, probably by 2025, several reports say. It's blatantly better to have brand-new teeth than none or fillings. Even after those two issues, I still was willing to go back there. However, the issue with veganism occurs, and this is problematic for anyone with allergies, or any religion, which a dentist place could be used for. I'm prescribed antibiotics, which I really didn't want since loads of peer-reviewed studies of my Russian roots, American studies, and so forth point to garlic being a far better antibiotic than synthetic antibiotics, since it doesn't kill good bacteria, and doesn't build tolerance, unlike synthetic ones (which about 80% of synthetic ones go towards animal agriculture). My mom had her first son pick it up. We trusted this office to handle the appropriate antibiotics, which turned out to be in poor outcome of a half-ass dentist office. The pharmacy won't take back an unopened bag and unopened bottle of pills. I addressed my concerns to the office in two emails. One email was on July 28th, addressing fluorosis, and the other info of Denmark, and so forth. I provided loads of screenshots to validate my claims. It was actually a favor to them so they're aware. No thank you. No reply. No call. No text. August 1st, I email them about the prescription, and the severity of how it can impact people of allergies, religions, and vegans. No reply. I texted them, too. September 11th (wow, a day I witnessed the news of in Florida in my middle school days, and I was in a plane to NJ and back to Florida, seeing the towers only from above) they sent a letter without any reimbursement, without any apology, and says we cannot see you unless an emergency, along with other nonsense. I don't want them to harass me with letters. $6+ to send me a letter. They won't even send emails. Ironically, again, their email at the bottom of the silly letter. It takes them over a month to get back to me. You want to talk about incompetent, and narcissistic of an office. I will be leaving reviews with evidence on various parts of online. I let the oral surgeon he recommended know again like last time. Incompetent and uncaring office. It's good that this place isn't the only place around for dental in Arden/Asheville.
