Marroccos is famous for its ice cream, id say easily the best in town. The queues outside at the dead give away as to how good it is. A variety if flavours all made in house. The hidden gem is the food. Seafood and pizza are a must. Especially the seafood platters on trays of ice. Italian menu also included, brilliant food, brilliant place.

    Check the queue in February!

Billed as the best Ice Cream Parlour in Hove (by a close friend of ours) - I have to say I am inclined to agree. The Ice Cream is indeed very good and seeing as Marroccos is Italian owned you can expect a good range of choice and the great flavours. There are no commerical ices here just traditional home made ones. My only gripe with Marrocco's (and it's a biggy) is that the place is tiny. Even in February (when it was slighlty mild) - we queued for a coffee and an ice cream (I know I know!) and we had to queue outside the cafe for 20 minutes. Surely a parlour that is this popular really should work on there counter service?

Don't be put off by the scafolding, joy still resides within.

For those with the fight in them on a lovely summer's day on Hove Lawns Ice cream from Marrocco's is definitely worth the queue. Located just between the western end of Hove Lawns and the King Alfred leisure centre on the sea front this little restaurant has an ice cream counter that could really be a business of its own. The prices are, as you would expect from an establishment with such a location, on the higher side. Take into account the quality of fare that you will be consuming here and the prices of the shops nearer palace pier and you'll soon find yourself happy to drop in and spend the best part of ten pounds on ice cream. I can personally recommend the Rum and Raisin, but beware, it can and will lead to stronger, figure spoiling things.

Seafood platter. A starter on the menu but enough for two to share as a main.

Oh how I wanted to give 4 or possibly even 5 stars on this review; had I based my decision on the seafood alone, there might well have been an extra star or two... I can definitely vouch for the freshness and quality of the seafood at Marrocco's, I sampled every kind of shellfish you can think of and it was all deliciously cooked to perfection. Succulent king prawns and langoustines, deep fried calamari, mussels, smoked salmon, the list is almost endless! The only disappointment on the seafood front was the overcooked tuna steak, but that's easily remedied with a request (upon ordering) to cook it rare. Unfortunately, I can't judge the restaurant on seafood alone. We had to wait a long time for our table, and an even longer time for our food to arrive. The former is easily avoided by booking a table, the latter is both unacceptable and unavoidable. I've been told it doesn't always take so long to get the food ready, but I'm not sure I want to risk an empty stomach like that again. Oh and for somewhere that has a reputation for great ice cream, my banoffee pie was decidedly lacklustre.

The ice cream always has ice flakes in it! It tastes watery as a result and not very smooth. I've had it on 5 completely seperate occasions.

Saying that, it was a good deal, any pasta or pizza for £3 plus £2.50 for a cheeky glass of wine (though disappointed with the amount of wine - maybe they should have put it into a smaller glass to make it look like more! It was a nice wine). On the bonus side, as well as being good value, they have friendly staff, and I was served my pizza really quickly. While there, a number of big groups came in and so it is clearly popular locally and the pizza (apart from the underneath) was tasty. Didn't really get the 'family' feel to it, which it proclaims on the outside. Overall, would recommend, particularly for a cheap lunch but they should definitely clean their oven!

The Brasserie is a Ristorante Italiano è Classico è molto gustoso!…read more At least I think that's how you write it. The food, service and surroundings are high-quality here, so expect a high price too. Also its location in Village Square makes it very popular with tourists so make sure you book ahead, and if its a balmy summer's evening reserve a table outside to avoid disappointment - they're the prime seats for marina viewing. Although the pasta dishes looked very enticing, I went straight for the fish, Fresh Scallops with garlic and wine to start and Salmone Alla Crema (fresh salmon with cream and brandy sauce) as my main, accompanied by a side of fresh vegetables. Everything was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. The wine list consists of mainly Italian and French favourites but it's a varied compilation. We plumped for a classic Frascati to start and moved on to Valpolicella for our mains. It didn't come cheap, at around £45 per person all in, but it was an experience worth paying for.

Could be seen as pricey, but you get what you pay for. It doesn't have to be expensive as Pasta & Pizza dishes are comparable to other eateries in the area!!
