Initially, my wife and I didn't believe we would be able to locate a wedding venue to move forward with our vision for an intimate and whimsical wedding aesthetic. So much so that we were a hair trigger away from eloping. Thankfully, as a final measure, we decided to create a checklist of required items that a wedding venue had to have for us to consider moving forward with a wedding including but not limited to; 1) an organic set of barebones / overall aesthetic that would pair well with a playful and lighthearted whimsical evening themed wedding aesthetic that in no way resembled the typical cookie cutter wedding 2) efficiently organized with strong vendor relations and/or recommendations, and 3) cost effective in the context of a smaller guest list of about 70. From the thoughtfully salvaged bricks from a to-be torn down structure in Europe that made up the archways of the reception area to the beautiful garden area rich with lush plants flowers nestled cozily between the ceremony and reception areas, the Chapel of Orange had checked off every box we had without us having to compromise. The well oiled machine that was Melissa and Cheryl far fostered a positive wedding planning experience as they handled EVERYTHING in such an unflappable manner. In addition to coordinating and scheduling design appointments, Melissa coordinated the vendors running their part correctly from the florist, to the videographer, to the Photo Booth, to the DJ, to the caterer, to the cake designer, and all the way down the list to the highly talented photographer Ashley Paige. Melissa also gave us a month by month wedding checklist to follow along to at the very start which made the ongoing planning process easy to follow while also simultaneously reducing any wedding related anxiety stemming from the feeling that we had forgotten some important detail along the way. Melissa's incredibly consistent and reliable communication as well as clear direction cut any unnecessary internal and external noise that went into the wedding process. Dates for big decisions such as our food tasting, table design, and final rehearsal were planned well in advance, allowing us to do nothing more than be present and direct the final decisions. Additionally, Melissa facilitated for the florist consult date and the DJ online phone meeting to verify lighting and song choices. The day of rehearsal, we dropped off all our supplemental DIY designs for our themed wedding and Melissa handled the rest of set-up. The day of the wedding was smooth like butter; Melissa had... 1) our parking spaces reserved with bright orange cones for us as well members of the wedding party, 2) boutonnieres ready and pinned members of the wedding party as they arrived 3) both the groom and bride's prep rooms staged and ready to go, 4) and all vendors on standby and ready for instruction. I have no doubt that Melissa handled so many more fires behind the scenes as my wife and I didn't have a single hiccup or moment where we had to step away to address a concern. It was marvelous, and the best day of our lives. TLDR: The Chapel of Orange runs like a well cared for and harmonious machine headed by Melissa and Cheryl. At each step of the way, they took the feedback we had the day of our wedding, executed the upper limit of potential we had for our whimsical garden wedding.

Not only were they available and super friendly, responsive, professional and willing to create a wedding ceremony and reception we could only have dreamed of. They also offered packages that included anything we could wish for for a reasonable price. We really didn't have much to do since their package included everything we needed for our wedding and more. What I especially like about the chapel staff is, that even now after the wedding, they are still super-responsive and quick to help when I message with questions or remarks. Our wedding was especially emotional and meaningful to us because we chose to have a small ceremony so that our beloved dog, Benji, could be there with us. The entire team understood how important that was and helped make the day feel so personal and full of love. Every little detail felt thoughtful, and we never once felt rushed. One of the most special things they did for us was accommodate a private first dance after our ceremony. It was such a simple request, but it became one of our favorite moments of the entire day. They even captured it on video for us, including a beautifully edited clip that we will treasure forever. Having that memory to look back on means more to us than I can put into words. A special thank you to Reverend Dave, Zaid, our photographer Serj, Daniel, and everyone else who helped make our day what it was. You gave us so much more than a wedding ceremony -- you gave us memories with our little family that we will have for the rest of our lives. All very nicely placed to transition from ceremony to reception. We had about 160 guest and the entire space felt ample and not crowded. There was plenty of parking and a very nice garden for pictures. Everything is very well maintained. Josie and the rest of the staff, to include the owners were fantastic. They really have the whole operation down pat. They worked with us from beginning to end by helping us prepare for the wedding to executing the ceremony and schedule flawlessly. Many of our guests were complimenting the venue and some even asking for the information. Food was great, drinks were great, we couldn't have asked for a better venue. Highly recommend. Yenmin was absolutely AMAZING! I did not expect to cry at all and the tears were FLOWINGGGGGG. She gave an option to do the ceremony in Spanish for my family and we did not expect that. Very professional and accommodating staff! The second Yenmin began to give the ceremony, I felt as if me and my husband were alone in the room getting ready to step into the next phase of our life. From the design of your table arrangements, to the choice of your flowers, to what you want your guest to eat and drink. You even get a DJ included in the package. Oh! I can't forget about the cake from Torrance Bakery! Our next meeting was with Madi, who moved us along with the specifics and locked things down further into place. Fumi was the one who got us across the finish line on the day. She was there for us during the rehearsal and got our wedding party in line for everything to be perfect. Both the Atlantic room, and the bridal suite were really nice. After we tied the knot, we went and had a couple of drinks brought by Fumi, and cocktail snacks from our dinner captains Samantha and Kelli. It was a slightly warm day, but the AC units were working really good when it came down to taking photos with our family and friends. We moved on into the hall where it was beautifully decorated, and also well air-conditioned. We had a set up for 90 people, and dinner service went perfectly. Table by table people went and got food. Our dinner captains brought ours. Slices of beef, garlic, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, crispy chicken pieces, cheese, tortellini, and a roll. It was all delicious. I wish I had had more but my wife and I were the show. lol. Drinks are always brought to us and special thanks to Chelsea for taking care of our family and friends at the bar outside. They have four bar tables and a patio set to sit in for six. We decided to have the dancing up on the stage where Gio played some great music for us. The party can go on as late as 11 at this place, so don't expect to go into the morning hours of the next day. I wanted a venue that had the option of having an indoor space just in case weather did not permit for an outdoor dining space. Suffice it to say, it was a great decision to go with the Plaza at a Cabrillo Marina because we were able to easily change our dining into the hall. Henry is one of the best venue operators you will ever work with. He answered all of our questions and gave us suggestions to make my daughter's birthday a success. I loved that this venue was a blank canvas that we can make our own. The amount of space in the hall was sufficient and the outdoor space can accommodate hundreds of guests. They have their own tables and chairs but since we had a specific theme we were going for, we brought in our own rentals. Many of the rental companies around the area have serviced events at the venue and are very familiar with the weather and wind factor. If not, Henry is such a great resource that can answer all of your questions. There is also so much free parking at this venue. It was such a huge plus for us because a lot of our guests have been used to events where they needed to pay for parking or park far away to get free parking space. Also, you will have the venue from 8am-12am which gives you so much flexibility and time for your event set-up and clean-up. I cannot recommend this venue enough!
