Initially, my wife and I didn't believe we would be able to locate a wedding venue to move forward with our vision for an intimate and whimsical wedding aesthetic. So much so that we were a hair trigger away from eloping. Thankfully, as a final measure, we decided to create a checklist of required items that a wedding venue had to have for us to consider moving forward with a wedding including but not limited to; 1) an organic set of barebones / overall aesthetic that would pair well with a playful and lighthearted whimsical evening themed wedding aesthetic that in no way resembled the typical cookie cutter wedding 2) efficiently organized with strong vendor relations and/or recommendations, and 3) cost effective in the context of a smaller guest list of about 70. From the thoughtfully salvaged bricks from a to-be torn down structure in Europe that made up the archways of the reception area to the beautiful garden area rich with lush plants flowers nestled cozily between the ceremony and reception areas, the Chapel of Orange had checked off every box we had without us having to compromise. The well oiled machine that was Melissa and Cheryl far fostered a positive wedding planning experience as they handled EVERYTHING in such an unflappable manner. In addition to coordinating and scheduling design appointments, Melissa coordinated the vendors running their part correctly from the florist, to the videographer, to the Photo Booth, to the DJ, to the caterer, to the cake designer, and all the way down the list to the highly talented photographer Ashley Paige. Melissa also gave us a month by month wedding checklist to follow along to at the very start which made the ongoing planning process easy to follow while also simultaneously reducing any wedding related anxiety stemming from the feeling that we had forgotten some important detail along the way. Melissa's incredibly consistent and reliable communication as well as clear direction cut any unnecessary internal and external noise that went into the wedding process. Dates for big decisions such as our food tasting, table design, and final rehearsal were planned well in advance, allowing us to do nothing more than be present and direct the final decisions. Additionally, Melissa facilitated for the florist consult date and the DJ online phone meeting to verify lighting and song choices. The day of rehearsal, we dropped off all our supplemental DIY designs for our themed wedding and Melissa handled the rest of set-up. The day of the wedding was smooth like butter; Melissa had... 1) our parking spaces reserved with bright orange cones for us as well members of the wedding party, 2) boutonnieres ready and pinned members of the wedding party as they arrived 3) both the groom and bride's prep rooms staged and ready to go, 4) and all vendors on standby and ready for instruction. I have no doubt that Melissa handled so many more fires behind the scenes as my wife and I didn't have a single hiccup or moment where we had to step away to address a concern. It was marvelous, and the best day of our lives. TLDR: The Chapel of Orange runs like a well cared for and harmonious machine headed by Melissa and Cheryl. At each step of the way, they took the feedback we had the day of our wedding, executed the upper limit of potential we had for our whimsical garden wedding.

Just south of their building they have a parking lot which is pretty smart and decent for a lot of cars to be locked in. If you end up, leaving your car and you pick it up the next day. They open the gates at 9am. The church used to be a Presbyterian, and has been around for 100 years. It is clearly well taken care of and very beautiful. We first met with Amanda, who assisted us with pulling the trigger with setting a date. Their packages are very affordable and include everything. From the design of your table arrangements, to the choice of your flowers, to what you want your guest to eat and drink. You even get a DJ included in the package. Oh! I can't forget about the cake from Torrance Bakery! Our next meeting was with Madi, who moved us along with the specifics and locked things down further into place. Fumi was the one who got us across the finish line on the day. She was there for us during the rehearsal and got our wedding party in line for everything to be perfect. Both the Atlantic room, and the bridal suite were really nice. After we tied the knot, we went and had a couple of drinks brought by Fumi, and cocktail snacks from our dinner captains Samantha and Kelli. It was a slightly warm day, but the AC units were working really good when it came down to taking photos with our family and friends. We moved on into the hall where it was beautifully decorated, and also well air-conditioned. We had a set up for 90 people, and dinner service went perfectly. Table by table people went and got food. Our dinner captains brought ours. Slices of beef, garlic, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, crispy chicken pieces, cheese, tortellini, and a roll. It was all delicious. I wish I had had more but my wife and I were the show. lol. Drinks are always brought to us and special thanks to Chelsea for taking care of our family and friends at the bar outside. They have four bar tables and a patio set to sit in for six. We decided to have the dancing up on the stage where Gio played some great music for us. The party can go on as late as 11 at this place, so don't expect to go into the morning hours of the next day. Also want to give thanks to the chefs Ben, Fancie and David for all the good food they brought out for everyone and the Wedgewood team for the amazing setup they put together from start to finish.

So a couple weeks before we were to be married, our pastor we intended on having, fell through. We were a mess at this point, with no idea what to do. We contacted Low, and his responses were extremely fast and helpful. The Sunday before our date, we met with him in Huntington. We'd never used anyone like this, so we were very stressed, not sure how personable and catered to US this would be. Within minutes of sitting down with Low, we started to feel at ease. Like another reviewer said, he recorded our 30-45 minute conversation, so he could be in the moment there with us, talk to us, and get to know us, using our conversation as the basis for personalizing our ceremony that was in a mere 6 days! When we left, we felt good, but still a little apprehensive. Would it be funny? Serious? A hybrid? Low had told us a few things about how he works and his background, but we decided to give it a shot. With 6 days left, we really had no choice. Wedding day came, and it was to be a beach wedding at Arch Cove in Laguna. (Pro-Tip for Laguna Beach weddings...check the tide tables, AND check the beach itself REALLY early on the day of the wedding, if not the day before, and have backup locations ready! At our first location, Arch Cove, the beach steps went all the way to the sand when we first picked the spot. By wedding day a few months later, the surf had washed away a massive portion of the sand and there was now a 2-foot or more drop off from the steps to the beach. Not workable for our older family members.) So here I was, an hour before our wedding, and absolutely FREAKING out. My fiance was getting ready in our room, I was supposed to be at the location, and there was no way family would be able to navigate those stairs and massive step down to the sand. Low took me aside and said...."It'll be ok. Let's check out other beaches. I've done plenty of these around here, and I know other spots." He calmed me, reassured me, and while I was still freaking out, we got in his car and drove. This is where having a secondary backup site for a beach wedding comes in handy. I told him our backup was Shaw's Cove. We were there within minutes, and the place, while a little crowded, was do-able. The massive texts and call frenzy began, and thank God we just had immediate family for the ceremony itself. Only had to re-coordinate with 20 people. Low could see I was on the verge of a panic attack. He again took me aside, talked to me (can't remember exactly what he said), but he reassured me everything was going to be just fine. He told me what to do, and said he'd take care of the rest. At this point, I wasn't even dressed. Again, glad we had a low-key, casual wedding planned, because I just had a linen shirt and beige slacks to put on. But now where to change? Many Laguna Beaches have no restroom facilities. Low gave me his keys, and said I could change in his car. So that's what I did right there on a side-street in Laguna Beach in the back of Low's car. Family got there, fiance got there, and the wedding was.....PERFECT! His message and words seemed to be from someone that knew us for years! Humor, faith, integration of how important our kids and families are to us....all of it it was just absolutely STELLAR! By now I've rambled on too much. For anyone out there that's looking for a wedding officiant, just know that Low went amazingly above and beyond anything my wife and I could have ever hoped for! What looked like was going to be a disaster, turned into one of the most amazing days of my life! Thank you soooooooo much, Low! We're SO glad we decided to have you be a part of our special day!
