My son was married in March in Joshua Tree. It was agreed to meet at the dirt lot before entering the National Park at 12:00. The wedding party was present with our dresses and suits until 12:47 when the photographer came to get us to take us to Hidden Valley picnic area where the rest of the wedding party had been waiting since 12 also. The wedding was supposed to start at 1. We never saw the officiant at the dirt lot or in Joshua tree until 2:15. I haven't a clue where she was but she had the nerve to charge my son and wife an extra fee because "they" were late. We waited in the heat for over 2 hours. My 86 yr old mother passed out due to the heat. Fast forward to the license. Marie said she had to send it in....well she sent it in with a tear in the corner which was taped. The license then got rejected. My son had to go to the hall of records to get another copy then make an appt with Marie to get the new copy signed. She wouldn't make an appt until May 2- a month after the wedding. Once my son and daughter-in-law met with her, she was rude, unfriendly and never apologized for the inconvenience. I felt she was unprofessional throughout the whole experience. I'm sure she will have some excuse for charging us a late fee but as god is my witness, we were where we were supposed to be and at the venue and no one saw her until 2:15- 1.25 hours after the wedding was supposed to start. read more

$600.... for absolutely nothing. I'll start by saying we really liked Marie and I think she WOULD have made our ceremony awesome, hence the 2 stars instead of 1. So we booked with Marie in July. Covid-19 was already in full effect. During our consultation via Zoom, she stated she takes the virus seriously and precautions will be in place. We agreed and booked her. Only 50% was required for booking, but we paid in full by choice. During our next meeting about a week ago, Marie mentioned we would all be masked during the ceremony.... my fiancé and I froze and were in shock. It was the first we heard of this; nothing in her contract or in our consultation specifically mentioned wearing masks. We asked if we two could go without masks and everyone else wear them. She refused. We discussed it further, then offered for her to wear a N95 mask. I'm a nurse anesthetist and am in airways on a daily basis. If anyone knows how to protect herself from Covid-19, it's me, and that is how I am protected. If she were to wear a N95 mask and practice social distancing, she would be 100% protected. She refused, saying we discussed it thoroughly during consultation (not true) and it was all over her social media and website that masks were required. No, I did not waste time searching her media and website. However, she has a link (https://covid19.ca.gov/stay-home-except-for-essential-needs/) directly on her website saying masks are required, but may be removed if outside and able to maintain 6 feet. I pointed out the contradictions because we are going to be outside and willing to be 6 feet away. She again, refused. Ultimately we were not willing to pay thousands of dollars for a photographer to take pictures of us masked during our wedding. That's ridiculous. We talked to two other officiants, both of whom found it very odd to require masks if practicing social distancing. We decided to cancel Marie. When we asked for a 50% refund since that was all that was required to book, she refused. In her contact, it states that all monies paid is non-refundable. Never in my life have I been punished for paying in full. You never know what can happen! So if you do decide to go with her, DON'T pay in full. No matter the circumstances, even her lack of communication, she will not refund anything. We asked her to please do the right thing given the miscommunication, and she never emailed us back again. Very unprofessional and petty and because of that, I do not recommend her. Ultimately, it's all about the money. Don't let her fool you into believing she cares. read more

We thought it would be more personal, more intimate. Turns out, it's not that easy! We skyped with her a month or so before, and it was like having coffee with an old friend. She also sent us a "Love Questionnaire" for both of us to fill out separately, so she would get to know us individually as well as together. She uses this to create the "Love Story" portion of your ceremony, where she talks about you as a couple, how you met, how you fell in love. By wedding day, she really knows you. As far as planning the rest of the ceremony, she takes something super overwhelming and makes it simple. She gets to know you, and then gives you some options for wording. You tell her what you love, what you don't, words you want incorporated etc. She gives you ideas, suggestions, without seeming pushy. After a few emails back and forth, our ceremony wording on paper was perfect. And on the day, it really was. We could not have been happier with our choice to use Marie for our special day.
