Great food and service. Owned and operated by a World war II veteran and his son. Authentic Moroccan food and wine.

The guy then told us that we had to order in 5 minutes or the kitchen would be closed (this was at 8pm). I called our hotel (who had recommended the place) and had them speak to the owner. We left as quickly as we could. Never going back here. Paris has many incredible restaurants. Don't waste your time and money on this one. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

You really feel like you're in Morocco with the decorations. And it's also not even that loud, which is perfect for a nice intimate dinner. Had the Kefta with Moroccan Salad and Royal Pigeon Pastilla as starters, Lamb Tagine with Seasonal Fruits and Kefta Meatball Couscous for entrées, and the Selection of Moroccan Pastries as dessert. Portions were really good and everything was super tasty. Not the absolute best food I've ever had, but I was not disappointed. Staff here are quite friendly. Even though they don't all speak English, they are very nice and helpful. And yes, they do have English menus at least. Really enjoyed Essaouira, glad I made the trip here.

My husband…read moreand I love having Moroccan food at home, even making it in our own tagine, so this was something we couldn't miss while honeymooning here. This little restaurant is down the street from the Moulin Rouge, which is a good landmark if you're not sure where you're going. Avoid the suicidal mopeds and viola! You're there! Despite speaking very little French, we were able to ask the waitress if she spoke English and, although she said she only spoke a little, she was definitely closer to fluent than just a little! We ordered a chicken tagine with preserved lemons and lamb couscous, along with the house wine and mint tea. My tagine was perfect. The chicken fell apart without so much as touching it with a knife, and the preserved lemons were a treat as I've never had them before. My husband was given couscous that we could easily have shared and not finished. I mean, it was seriously a mountain of food. He says the lamb was tender and spiced perfectly, and the broth was also tasty. Couscous was perfect, of course. Nice and fluffy. The house wine was intense, in my opinion. It was like a flavor punch in the mouth every time I took a sip. Pow! Loved it. The mint tea was perfect. My only regret there is that I didn't have more. After lunch I asked to see the tray of treats they have on the bar. She gave me a quick tour of what was on display and left it on our table along with tongs. I chose a Turkish delight - rose! Which I've never tasted before, and it tasted exactly like the flower smells. I also had a small Baklava, which I have had before, but this one was incredible and dripping with honey. Yum! Overall, I have to say that everything was flavorful and perfect. Definitely exceeded my very high expectations of Moroccan food in France. I wish I could go there again!

I have had a favorite a favorite Couscous restaurant but my last couple of trips there were less than satisfactory. Service dropping in quality, food just so-so, and many more tourists. This could become a new favorite. Stopped by for lunch and it was busy with locals and service was quite good. Food was excellent with some of the best merguez sausage I've eaten. Chicken was also very tasty as well. Worth a stop if you've got the craving.

Shouk - The bread dish was incredible, must order

How would I summarize Shouk in one word that I know will speak to Parisians and foreigners alike?…read moreYUM. The Moroccan bread dish with all the accoutrements is an absolute MUST do. The bread is fluffy and delicious, rolled with pistachio, and drizzled with a bit of honey, served with labneh (SO GOOD), anchovies, za'atar, olives, and some peppers. I've not had a dish like this elsewhere and I've been craving it ever since! We also ordered the octopus skewer over greens - this was also very good though the octopus could have been a BIT less chewy and seasoned/marinated a BIT more. The greens were SO good though! Finally, we had the kibbeh nayyeh which is essentially lamb tartare. I've had this dish many times in different restaurants but this one is my absolute favorite. It's topped with some crunchy goodness that I can't explain as well as an egg yolk. The only thing you should be aware of is that if you want to have an appetizer first, THEN your entrees, make sure to be clear about it. We ordered everything together and it came all at once. English-speaking? Kind of. The server knew some English and had to check with the bartender on a few things. Either way, he spoke more English than I speak French so kudos to him! He was also very sweet.

They went thru every item on the menu in details. We ordered 4 small plates and a bottle of wine for two of us and both were full; all four were great with a unique flavor!
