To be honest with the customers and stop overcharging them. A ring that should have cost for resizing between $50 and $150. They charge me $220. Plus tax. I probably will never buy anything from them because of this experience where they overcharged me to resize a wedding ring. After getting a response from Lyle the business manager, he is a pompous ass. And I warn everybody stay away from Marquiette's . Relatively new to YELP and I don't live in Montgomery anymore but HAD to warn people about this place. While attending law school in Montgomery A year or so ago I brought in a watch to have it tuned up/repaired. I was hoping to sell it. They told me it would have to have a special part or something ordered. It took almost 2 months to get my watch back. I paid a bunch of money for this work....and the watch stopped less than a week after getting it back. I took my wives rings into them to have the soldered together. They told me the stones were loose and needed to be tightened. One of the rings, that my wife has yet to wear since they resized them, had loose stones in it. They quoted me 300 dollars and a week to have the stones tightened and two rings soldered together. A week goes by and I go in to check on the rings and they haven't been touched yet. I decided to take them elsewhere. Croniers charged me 40 dollars and had them done in 2 days. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VALUABLES HERE!! I went to this place to have my watch fixed. Not only did it stop working with in two weeks of me receiving it. When I took it back the second time they had my watch for a month. And when I received it the second time it stopped working about a week after that. They have horrible customer service. One lady asked me what was wrong with my "rinky dink" watch. I'm a college student and work for everything I have, and I found that extremely offensive. The prices were outrageously high for a simple watch repair. I took to my regular guy at home, he told me there was a part under the battery missing. What a disappointment! I have been a customer since I moved to the area in 2015. I purchased a product about six weeks ago that did not hold up and requested they trade it for another product. I requested to speak to a manager, but no manager was on-site. The entire process was mishandled and no manager attempted to follow up with me to discuss the situation. Instead, I was left a voice mail four days later advising me the product I purchased six weeks ago was not under manufacturer warranty, and there was nothing they could or "would" do to correct the subpar purchase. They will rip you off. They do not back up their word. Not all their jewelry is good quality and they won't admit it. They put the blame on you for being too rough. The WORST! If there was a zero star rating I would give them that. Read posts from further back. Nothing has changed. Horrible customer service. They even settled a law suite out of court for swapping a woman's diamonds for less valuable stones. I had a wedding band made by them that broke within 6 months of wearing it. I took it back, they fixed it after 2 months of waiting and that was just the first of a loooooonnnng saga of issues. The band broke at least 3 more times. On the third break I asked them if it could be re-built to a less complicated style so that I could be done with the constant repairs. They said oh no, it'll be fine, just give us another chance. So I did, BIG mistake. I moved and of course it broke again. I asked them to give me a refund. The owner, Benjy was incredibly rude and flat out refused. He said it's like a used car, once you leave the lot the value decreases. The fuck it does. Gold and diamonds are not machines like the parts of a car. ALSO we asked that the band be made in yellow gold but over time it became very apparent that it was plated in yellow gold but underneath it was white gold. Shaddy establishment. I visited Marquirette's Exquisite Jewelry in Montgomery, during their annual clearance sale as I have done for the past 3 years. Upon entering the store I looked around and stood there for a few seconds scanning the store for assistance. I noticed two employees and a police officer standing near a counter chatting. One of the sales associates noticed me and nodded her head to the police officer towards me. The police officer strolled slowly past other customers to the other side of the counter and just stared at me as if I was going to steal a bottle of $40.00 cologne. The police officer and I engaged in a 20 second stare down, I was about to inform her that "I don't have to steal anything. I can afford to purchase what I like". At that moment a sales associate of color approached me and asked if I needed help with anything. The associate was very professional and helpful and she is the ONLY reason I remained in the store. Several customers who came in after me were greeted and given assistance. I have patronized this store for years and referred several customers to them as well. Why did it take her to approach me after 2-3 minutes had elapsed? I believe GOOD customer service keeps the bills paid, but GREAT customer service keeps customers coming back. I must admit during my last encounter the customer service was horrendous. So Marquirette's here are the basics free of charge---ANY customer who enters an establishment should be (1) Recognized (2) Treated equally and professionally with no regards to race or apparel. We all know looks can be very deceiving. Could it be the way I was dressed or my race that brought on my image of being invisible for assistance? I would lean more towards both. I would beg-to-differ that this is an isolated incident. Recently I have had heard several individuals comment on the same treatment I received. Unless management and the sales associates adhere to the above given advice and drastic changes are made several customers will not be returning to your establishment. I will be passing this letter on to my military peers and co-workers as well and they too will be informed of what to expect when entering Marquirette's on their next visit. I worked with Marquirette's to design my wedding bands. They were to replace my original rings that I had been giving me problems. I was told during the process that the style we were going with would eliminate the problem of losing diamonds. I received my rings Nov. 2010, I loved them. Until June 2011. When I lost my first diamond. Marquirette's replaced the diamond and told me the problem should be resolved. Sept 2011 - lost a diamond. Returned them to Marquirette's, they replaced the diamond. Ran stress tests to see they could determine the issue and fix it. Within 1 month of wearing my rings I lost another diamond. During this process my family moved to Alaska so all this has been done by telephone and mail. I called shortly after Thanksgiving to notify them that the problem hasn't been resolved. I called a total of 6 times without a return phone call. I FINALLY got in touch with Benji about 1 week ago. We decided to go with a totally different style. When I called to discuss the style I decided to go with, I was told I would be charged the difference of the rings. Of course Benji didn't tell me this himself. So I let a message for Benji to call me so we could discuss the issue. Imagine my surprise that I have not received any phone call from Marquirette's. I have never in my life received such terrible service. They have striped any pleasure I have in my wedding bands. I regret the day I ever walked into Marquirette's. My husband and I have decided to take the loss and walk away from this "Exquisite" jeweler. I will recommend to everyone I know in Montgomery to do the same. read more

My husband and I picked out an engagement ring at Marquirette's in Sept of 2011. It had lots of tiny diamonds around the large stone and on the prongs. At the time we picked it out and at the time he purchased the ring, we were never told about any problems with the setting. We were also under the impression that the ring had been built at Marquirette's, after all their slogan is "We really build it." My husband gave me this ring on Sept 7, 2011. On Sept 9 1 of the tiny diamonds fell out. Since I had just received the ring, I was very upset to already have a problem. I took it to Marquirette's and was told rudely it would be 10 days before I would get it back. Several days later I got the ring back. Between Sept 9, 2011 and March 29, 2013, this ring had 10 stones fall out of it. This even happened on my wedding day. Nearly every time I sent the ring for repair, I had to repeatedly call to check on the status and to ensure that my ring was being worked on. Once I was told the ring would be delivered back to me by a certain date, and when I called the store the repair had not even been started. By early Dec 2012 I was fed up with this situation. I called Lyle, one of the owners of Marquirette's, explained the situation, and requested his advice on how to solve it. His suggestion was that he should rebuild the ring for me from scratch. I agreed to this resolution, and he told me on Dec 14, 2012 that the rebuilt ring would be completed by mid-Jan 2013. I also learned through this conversation that the ring had not been made at Marquirette's. Rather, it had been made by a wholesaler. This was the first time my husband or I had ever been told this. In fact, the appraisal that I received from Marquirette's, that was signed by Lyle, and I used to insure the ring stated, "Custom Made by Marquirette's." On Jan 31, I called the store to inquire about my new ring. No one at the store knew anything about it and Lyle was out for two weeks. I was told by one of the sales women that she was going to text Lyle, find out the status of my ring, and call me back. I never received a call back. A couple of days later I called and asked to speak to Benjy, who is a jeweler and Marquirette's son. I again explained everything that had happened to him. He told me that Lyle had not even started on the ring, and probably forgot about it. Benjy said that Lyle's suggestion was not the best solution, rather I should send the ring to him to re-tip every prong and make the ring stronger. I did this in Feb of 2013. I received the ring back about 2 weeks later. About a week or so after receiving the ring back, another diamond fell out. I was disgusted, and decided rather than calling the store I was going to wait until March 29th when I would be in town. On March 25, I emailed Benjy to tell him what happened and he said to bring the ring to the store and he would fix it. On March 29th my husband and I went to the store. We sat in the store for about 20 minutes before anyone would even help us. When we were helped, it was by Marquirette. I started to explain the story, and she told me to come to her desk. She looked our account up, and then she looked at the ring through the lens. She said, "This ring looks like it has been drug through concrete." She wanted my husband and me to look at the ring through the lens too, and we did. I know nothing about jewelry, but the setting was clearly in horrible condition. Marquirette said that the ring was falling apart. She had no explanation as to why this was happening. Even she seemed perplexed and said it didn't make sense since Benjy had just retipped the prongs a little over a month previously. Marquirette offered us 3 options as solutions: Rebuild the ring from scratch and in the meantime put my diamond in a solitaire setting; Give us a solitaire setting worth $340 for free and give us store credit in the amount of $700 (the amount we paid for the original setting); Give us our money back for the setting. While we were in the store her exact words to us were "Do you want your money back?" She also told me that if I wanted to purchase the solitaire setting she would give me the difference in it and the $700 we paid. I told her we wanted to think about it, and we would be back. We returned about an hour and a half later. When Marquirette came back out to the front, I told her I had decided that I wanted to purchase the solitaire setting for $340 and I wanted the difference back, which would have been $360. Her immediate response was "I'm not giving you your money back!" Her complete tone and demeanor had changed from earlier. She said that she never told me that she would give us the money back and that there were "2 sides" to this story. She insinuated that the ring was damaged because of something I had done to it, and she said that when the ring was sold to us, it was not in that condition. She was very rude and dishonest. She even retracted her offer to give me the $340 solitaire with $700 credit read more
