Best park on South Side by far. It has so much going on around here. Marquette Park also happens to be a neighborhood so the park is the highlight of this. Has all kinds of athletic facilities and structures good for casual joggers and athletic leagues. There's a few other features like the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. Certainly this doesn't seem like the kind of place that would have a golf course. In fact it actually does. This takes up an entire side of the park. Other athletic fields include a few baseball diamonds. There's also a running track. Kids can find lots of safe activities to participate in. There's also a pretty strong police presence with a precinct on the north side. It's pretty safe compared to the rest of the area. This used to not be such a place to come to but it's gotten a lot better than it used to be for sure. Highlights include the athletic facilities. It also has a Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. This acknowledges the time he spent in Chicago and his work getting affordable housing for minorities and other civil rights he participated in those years. read more

Not to be confused with Chicago Pork District (where the cops hang out), Chicago Perk District (where you get perks just for hanging out there), or Chicago Pr*ck District (where I hang out). Pretty awesome part Envy ethnic suburbs of Southwest Chicago where you have a whole bunch of amazing food In particular you have a lot of amazing Latino food around here. Pretty delicious as well. It's a nice big Park that takes up several city blocks and is a really great part of living in this neighborhood for these people. read more

Possibly one of the best parks in all of Chicago-land. It's big, there's tons of activities to do here and there's always people using the park every day. There's many things you can do here like golf,fish,jog,basketball courts,playgrounds,baseball fields and much more. It's always full of activity here. My complaint is that the road inside Marquette Park needs to fix it's potholes. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Marquette Park is big enough and varied enough that many people don't cross each other's paths, but get plenty from it just as well. Beginning with the athletes, you'll find golfers on the nine-hole course on the west side of the inner island and softball and baseball players on the east. Outside the inner island are the European football or soccer players, scrimaging football players, horseshoe players, Frisbee and radio-controlled model airplanes enthusiasts and archers, along with runners and bicyclists. So much of it is geared to families with several playgrounds and picnic places along with the field house filled with indoor programs. The naturalist will find the cultivated gardens that some use for wedding photographs. Lithuanians honor the pre-Charles Lindbergh pilots Darius and Girenas for their ill-fated trans-Atlantic Ocean flight with a monument that youngsters try to climb. For a long time it was a place to people watch by parking or making repeated circles around the road. read more

I have many. many fond memories of this park. I grew up on the south side and I was about one mile north of the park on St. Louis. Every now and then i take a ride over here from the burbs and bring a chair and sit out and read under a shade tree somewhere. Kedzie avenue splits the park in two and each side of the park has two distinct personalities. The east side is the more active side here you will find your soccer and softball games and it is definitely the more crowded of the two sides. The west side of the park is the more laid back side where you will find most people just casually walking and having picnics, or siting out by the lagoon relaxing. IF you are up for some golf, they even have a nine hole golf course on this side. read more

I used to live across the street from this park. I loved watching all of the activity from my window- kids sledding, people fishing, lots of walkers, and yes a few bad apples. I loved the South Side! Growing up, Mom would take us to play in the sprinklers- some of my best childhood memories. As an adult, I walked this park almost every day. I have this park, and Jenny Craig, to thank for dropping 60 pounds. (Yeah, and Yelp to thank for helping to put a good bit of it back- sheesh.) Cool thing to note about this park: Blues Brothers "Chicago Nazis". This is the lake ( on the west side) that they drove the Nazis into. Go Jake and Elwood! read more

I wish I could golf every weekend, but I can't. So, I did my one golf outing of the summer this past Saturday, and Marquette Park was the spot. I grew up in this area, and I haven't been back in awhile. Nothing has really changed: There are still some disgusting people dwelling in the area, gangs signs tagged on the sides of buildings, children running into oncoming traffic, people BBQing on the side of the road. Aaaah, I miss the Southside. Finding the parking lot to the golf course lot is an adventure and a half. I took Kedzie south from I-55, and wound up driving past the parking lot. After a few sons-of-bitches and mother-f'ers, I circled my way back around and parked my car. Some parking signs would help out a lot, but maybe I'm asking for too much. As I waited for my fellas to show up, I took a walk around the field house. There is a nice little patio area behind the field house where you can fish, or just chill out. That was pretty neat. I remember this park being super shitty...garbage sprawled out, hookers doing their thing, and bums everywhere. Looks like Mayor Daley really cleaned up Marquette Park, nice work. When my friends arrived, we all made our way to the "golf shack." Totally discreet, totally confusing. The golf office is adjacent to the first hole, and it is painted yellow and has bars all over it. Even the outer walls have cages, not sure if someone has attempted to steal the actual bricks of the buildings, but maybe they have. A round of 9 holes is fairly cheap, and there wasn't much of a wait...even for a Saturday. The course is pretty nice, with a few challenging holes involving the lagoon and some willow trees. Make sure you pay close attention on the 9th hole. That is possibly the WORST hole on any gold course Ive ever played. You basically tee up facing 6 trees that are 10 feet in front of you, and the green is on a 30 degree angle form the tee...but you can't just turn your body and shoot directly at the green, because there are huge bushes and things growing out of the lagoon. I don't even consider that "challenging." It's an impossible shot...you are better off using a pitching wedge off of the tee and hitting it over the lagoon, onto the fairway. All in all, not bad. The course is OK, and I had an OK time. read more

Grew up in this area it has its good and bad moments. The BEST thing about here is the corn lady which may I add is licensed I have never bought from anyone else and never will. I've moved out of the area and still drive back to the neighborhood to grab a snack. read more

Park needs to better maintained, but it's a huge park and awesome for running with my dog. Lots of inclines and declines. Also, two basketball courts and lots of soccer fields makes for an awesome time. read more

This is the first year that I took a real interest in my golf game and it just so happened Marquette park was the place it was going to happen. For a beginning golfer I found the course to be very well kept for a city course and the staff is beyond friendly and I never felt rushed to play. I have never had an issue tee times or just walking up and getting out. One of the other nice things about the course is that it has a driving range and a few chipping areas. I now consider this my "home" course and often recommend it to my friends and colleagues. read more

The golf course is a hidden gem. I live up in Lincoln Square but made the trip down today. The course is the longest of the CPD courses, and in good condition. The neighborhood isn't as sketchy as described below. My tee-time was at 9AM and my friend and I were able to play at a leisurely pace. This course is a good alternative to the more popular and busier CPD courses like Marovitz and Robert A. Black. I will definitely make it a point to go back 1 or 2 more times this season. read more

Kind of scummy. People are sitting there smoking smoking weed right after I get out of school. I also do not feel very safe while in this park. I feel like I'm going to get shot or robbed. It's a nice park but it's s terrible environment. read more

Love this park! One of the best parks in the city! It has everything you could ask for; track, fishing, golf, walking path, etc. I have seen the workers out there cleaning the lagoon on a daily basis, and although they might be fighting a losing battle against the pollution, I give them immense credit for sticking to it. Their has been an amazing difference in the lagoon health in the past few years! Hope they keep up the great work! Love this park! read more
