They have a couple of large parking lots there to stash your vehicle while visiting. One of the main entrances is right past one of the Tinley Park fire stations. Many paved trails to walk around the lake, with a high route and a low route to vary up the scenery. On the high elevation they have a number of picnic tables and the like for those that want to have a meal. They also have a large playground there for the kids to keep busy while the parents chill. The lower route is mainly for jogging and walking ... although you'll find a lot of bikes in the area also. At the other end you'll find baseball and soccer fields, skateboard, and basketball too. They also have a little dock off which you can fish. Be forewarned - no dogs allowed, which is good for some people and not so much for others. This is a sort of difficult kind of place to find, but that keeps it a treasure.

I kid you not the life guard was watching him as well and all he did was jump in the deep end of the pool, he was coming up for air and they blew their whistle and jumped in to, again, "save" him when he didn't need saving at all. They put him in unwanted distress and embarrassed him, made him cry because he was coming up for air. Thankfully there were other lifeguards around who understood the situation and assured us nothing was wrong but what happened was just ridiculous.

Check out this incredible transformation of a quarry into a park in Bridgeport. In between it was a…read morelandfill. Palmisano Park has went through a lot of changes to be sure. A lot of nature of course. There's trails and an interpretive wetlands among the many things to come across while going through. Best to know about the transformation before going. It used to be the Stearns Quarry. The city purchased it in 2008, cleaned it up, and opened it the next year. Has lots of nature to see and more to do. There's more than a mile of paths, including recycled timber boardwalks, and walkways. At first this was the site of a coral reef if you can believe it. Limestone was formed, and there's been fossils discovered here that are now in the Field Museum. In the 1830s it became a quarry, and operated until 1970 when it became a landfill. There's a fishing pond that still has the old quarry walls. After opening this park there was cause for celebration. The community before this had a lack of green space. Have to go here if you like parks that have been restored from abandoned areas. It's quite impressive. There's all kinds of plants and wildlife.

We are total green thumbs so we were excited to go in! We met the most incredible man, Kenny who worked there and he was so kind and gave us a quick chat and walkthrough. We enjoyed spending time with him. They sell plants and grow food that they sell too from the garden! It's great summer events for Seniors which is really cool! Oh boy, where to begin. I grew up a block away from this park and I had a lot of memories here. I…read moreused to play baseball here, play in the playground, when I went to Block Jr. High, I would walk through here on a daily basis. As I got older, I would jog around the park for exercise. I got chased by gangs here, I had birthday parties and rode my bike through here. I was in an ATV accident with a friend where he lost a leg when he crashed into a tree here. I got into fights here, I cried over my childhood woes here. I remember in the 80s, there was a HUGE breakdancing contest here that filled the park. I would do chin-ups on the old Vietnam cannon that was here (now gone). There's a greenhouse here that you should see at least once. I played tennis here. Do you know a long time ago, there used to be a zoo here? Now they ripped out the baseball fields and there's some crazy water slide. They even inserted a parking lot in the southeast corner. There was a statue of George Washington and someone knocked the head off of it when I was a kid. SO many memories of Washington Park.

There are a lot of shelters for parties, volleyball nets and good parking. It's good for pets as well. People come here all year long and it's fairly relaxing. There are a few entrances 1) near the golfing center and 2) roughly near the volleyball nets 3) one off the pathway that leads to a nearby neighborhood. There is also this random pathway that is also right off the pathway but I do not know where that leads to. Nonetheless, you can travel up there with the exception of motor vehicles. It's also surrounded by a nearby busy intersection which really doesn't interfere with anything. Just a surrounding area. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes the outdoors.

Bicentennial Park has many amenities for children and adults. Today was the kick off of the…read more Olympia Fields Park District Sock Hop Hustle 5k which started at Bicentennial Park. The bathrooms were clean; the park itself was clean and free of lose trash and debris; there were plenty of benches to enjoy the scenery and to relax; and paved walk ways to take a leisure stroll and enjoy the tree-lined Olympia Fields streets. The park is large enough to not feel like people in various areas are to close or infringing on your space. There is also a covered picnic shelter which is good if you want to rent the park for family events and such. I also like the wide flat area so that you can let the kids run free or you could have structured games for your events. It's definitely one of the better parks in Olympia Fields.
