We took several bids for the removal of our 5' diameter and over 40' tall Globe Willow. Considering that the tree's branches were touching our house and hanging over our fence we were apprehensive with going with just any service. We went with Mark's Tree Service because of the knowledge, expertise, safety precautions and equipment they had. They did a fabulous job and had the tree gone and stump ground up in half a day. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - A dear friend here in Wonder Lake recommended his service to us; I called Georgina 4 weeks ago and she was very nice...promised to get a message to Mark. He never called us back; I called Georgina again 2 weeks ago...she said that he came onto our property (without letting us know), WTC? We waited for this very, very busy man to call with a time to schedule a look at our different trees. THIS week I called 3 times; and just now Georgina said the minimum is $500, really? Not sure if he is a mean person or just very arrogant and disrespectful towards potential customers. Oh, the service we went with is charging us $75! God Blessed us by going thru this and learning lessons. I'm hoping to help others avoid much delays and unprofessional AND non-communicative company. (My Daddy taught me a lot about how to treat people when I worked at our family automobile repair shop and THIS is what NOT TO DO WITH POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS!) read more

We called Mark's Tree Service on Wednesday morning and Mark stopped by our offices that afternoon and gave us a quote for the work. The price was great so we went forward, scheduling a time for the next morning weather permitting. When I pulled up in the morning, Mark's crew already had 4 of the 5 trees down and made quick work of the final one. His crew was friendly, helpful, and professional. They even went out of their way to save a dead limb that had a bird's nest in it with a bunch of fledglings that they relocated to a nearby tree. Now that they are done, there is little evidence that they were even here except for the missing dead trees! Thanks Mark for great work at a great price. read more

This is second year in a row that I had called Mark's Tree Service, scheduled an estimate with the owner Mark who never showed up or called to say he would be unable to make the appointment. Very disappointed since it was a local company I prefer to use local business and support them. Went with Joe Meyer Tree Service, Inc. out of Fox Lake. Called for an estimate at 0800 and he arrived on time at 0845 same day, gave a very reasonable quote for 4 trees that I'm sure Mark "no show" could not of matched, signed the contract. By the way this is the next day at 1100 Mark still has not called to say he's not coming zero stars would be perfect. read more

We've had 3 other local Tree services and Marks was the best price. He was prompt in his quote even though he was extremely busy with all the local tree damage. He removed a 50' tree and it was amazing to watch. His crew was very personable, efficient and just plain nice guys. Although best price doesn't always mean best quality in this case...IT DOES! I bought this house 8 years ago, mostly for the backyard. The yard had no trees, but at least 1/3 of the yard was covered by trees 50 feet up. Love those box-elders! They grow like weeds and have no problems growing sideways. Mark's crew was here today. They are amazing just to watch! They are fast and definitely experienced! They totally cleaned up the mess from all the work they did, and were so very careful not to wreck anything in the yard - like my swing set, house, patio, fence, or lilac bush. The price was reasonable. The crew was so caring and pleasant to my 5 year-old Grandson who enjoyed the whole experience. My lilac tree is seeing sun for the first time. We thank you for the most excellent job, and for finally having a whole back yard!!! read more

I have used Mark's Tree Service twice now. First time was last July, we had four ash trees that were infested with ash borers and were dead or near dead. They were a hazard to my children's safety and had to go. Mark came out promptly for a free estimate, gave me a fair price (right in line with other estimates I received) and I accepted his proposal. His crew was amazing and left my yard looking immaculate (I was having a party in two days)! There was almost no cleanup for me to do when they left! In January my mom passed away and I recently inherited her home. The property was very overgrown and needed lots of love. Once again, Mark came out promptly for an estimate, gave me a fair price. His crew did an amazing job again and I couldn't be happier with the work. Bottom line... No one wants to spend $ on tree service, but when you have to this is the guy to call! I love the fact that he was on site both times to make sure things were done properly. He's my "go to" guy from now on! read more

When Mark stopped by our yard, he gave high estimates and was advised that we wished to speak with out insurance agent before taking action. The reputable tree company I contacted Monday for an estimate called & advised my downed tree was gone & I wasn't the only person this had happened to on this day. Unauthorized work done was beyond poor, but we paid Mark far more than a fair amount. This is wrong, but he's a bit scary and we did not want trouble. Please think twice before calling Mark for anything. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would - unfortunately, that's not an option. Mark's Tree Service is an absolute joke! I took a vacation day from work and spent 9 hours at home waiting for them to show up and remove a tree from my yard that had been scheduled a week in advance. I had spoken to Mark, the owner, several times to confirm the work to be done, when, and the payment specifics. However, on the scheduled removal day, the foreman showed up 1 1/2 hours late to my house only to inform me that he would return 3 hours later to begin the work. He did not show, nor did he call at the specified time. I tried several times to reach Mark via his home office and his cell and was not able to make contact. Not only did he not return my voice mail messages on his office line, but he neglected to even have an operable voice mail box setup on his cell phone. I am completely dissatisfied with this company's work (or lack thereof), and would strongly warn anyone thinking about using them. Please do not make the same mistake I did by thinking that this company was reputable. This company is nothing more than an absolute joke and an entire waste of my day. read more
