Easy access From Bondi Junction, a 20 minute bus ride depending on where you want to start. I walked 90% of the trail because i wanted shorter Bus route. FYI, the bus is within the building of Bondi Junction above the train station not street side. Reminds me of some of the cliffs along the beaches of California. Some tips. Bring swimming trunk, lotion, sun protection, and water bottle. There are refill stations along the way and bathrooms. Not much shade even on this cloudy day. Multiple beaches along the route where you can take a dip. Restaurants are also accessible, but I prefer a picnic lunch so you can enjoy the views with the plenty benches and the beaches. Some have some shady seating options. I went on a weekday so I'm guessing on weekends more crowds. The beaches often have showers and restrooms.

The trail is mostly flat, but had sets of stairs in between. On one side of the trail, the water is crystal clear, blue and the other side of the trail are beautiful rock formations. This route passes by Bondi Icebergs Pool and a smaller beach - Tamarama Beach. There are restroom pit stops at the park and Tamarama Beach. Even though we walked a ton in Sydney, I highly recommend this coastal walk.

You know this place. The 3-tiered grassy hill above the rocks, right in front of North Bondi Italian and the RSL. As soon as there's the barest sliver of sunshine people looking to get their writhing funzos on stream down and spread out towels, sarongs and picnics, bust out the eskies and the booze, light up durries and, yes, often joints, and live like people in those Corona "From Where You'd Rather Be" ads. You're pretty much guaranteed to see local celebs, from Channel V presenters to models to D-list look-at-me's. But here's the thing: nobody's looking. They're just chilling out and loving life. So posers, pose elsewhere. Best thing ever is to get there early arvo and leave after dusk. You'll have accomplished everything and nothing all at once. Make mine the party grass.

But you'd be very wrong. Escape the meat market sunning themselves in the paddock directly above the North Bondi paddling pool and make your way up the steps to the grassy knoll. There isn't much shade here either, but you are more likely to find a piece of grass to sun yourself on or a picnic shelter or even a pleasant little playground for the kiddliwinks. You also still get a wonderful view of the beach minus the roided Bondi boys, Brazilian beach bums and screaming children in front of ice cream vans. Take your picnic in peace like a true local and park your keister on the North Bondi Grassy Knoll.

The nice grassy slope and shady trees provided the perfect spot to spread out the picnic blanket, and watch the boats go by. While it had no playground, and the water meant a greater than usual vigelance was required when watching the boys, it was very relaxing here. We were also grateful for the toilets located near the ferry as when little boys need to go, it is not in 5 or 10min... :-) While this place is somewhat out of the way, it might come in handy if you are ever in the area.

As you cross through this park, you find lots of green open spaces large enough to play a full game of rugby, without running into a park bench or a tree. There's restrooms available. My favorite thing about this park is the huge stone gates at each entrance that remind you that you're entering an important public space. What a fabulous addition to the city. The only problem are the birds as seems to be the case all over Sydney. Mostly the Ibis, which seem to be also called bin chickens. You can never really prepare for a visit to Belmore Park…read more I use the term 'visit' loosely, as this grassy knoll's location between Central Station and the (semi-dodgy) Haymarket end of the CBD has its fate set as a thoroughfare rather than a destination unto itself. Still, any post-train ride stroll through is sure to greet you with an eclectic selection of peoples. First up are the overbearing charity reps (I believe the derogatory term is 'chuggers'?) who lurk behind the eastbound lane bus stop, spreading across the park walkway into a human net guaranteed to catch a few suckers. From there on you'll pass the tai chi group, a dedicated and ever-so calm crew who arrive from 6.30am onwards. At the gazebo, note the homeless guy casually typing away on a brand new lap top. Finally, beware of flying soccer balls when exiting the park onto Hay Street if passing through during the afternoon - there seems to be a rotating group of backpacker football fans, usually European and playing shirtless. If stopping off at the bench seats during your lunch break, be sure to carry a substantial bag of pebbles with which to ward off the audacious iris birds, ready and waiting to peck you down over that cooked tuna sushi roll.

As it turns out large is a bit of an understatement - it is absolutely huge. So huge that it contains a relic of Australia's convict past - Old Government House. The Parramatta River also runs through the middle of the park, though it isn't really all that wide, but don't try to jump over it - you might end up getting wet.
