Bondi Beach is BEAUTIFUL! The water was clear and clean. It was a great spot to swim and relax. The beach itself was very clean, and I didn't see any liter anywhere. There are plenty of shops and lots of places to grab a meal or a snack. You can definitely spend an entire day here. Just remember your sunblock! There is also currently a memorial for the victims of the shooting in December. It was very thoughtful and respectful. It added a sense of community. A wonderful beach!
Why go from Huntington Beach, one of the most touristy beaches in the world, to another touristy beach like Bondi?: Because you have to if you're in Sydney! IMHO, Aussies are in good shape and luv to show off their bodies when the weather gets better. The surf is pretty good here, and the thong is strong for women. I even saw a woman sunbathing topless (Americans are such prudes regarding this topic). I picked up some merch from the local store. Honestly, I was expecting more stores, and bars & restaurants near the Pavilion. It seems like most of the foregoing are higher up on the main roads.
there is just something about this beach thats just enjoyable! maybe its the beautiful waters, maybe is the clean sands, maybe its the crowd. Either way im glad we got to visit Bondi Beach even though it was short and sweet. The waves can be crazy so swim carefully and responsibly. Share the beach with the rest of the beachgoers and have a great time! dont forget to check the local restaurants and shops while youre here!
12/6/24 What an amazing time. Wished it wasn't as cloudy but all in all a good day. Water was very cold didn't get all the way due to those vicious waves. I loved watching folks surfing. Wish I was a better swimmer so that I could partake. So much activity family friends etc all having a good time. Happened upon a promotion for helicopter rescue and if you took a pic you received free gelato. All in all enjoyed watching and walking along the beach.
Breathe taking beach. It's June (winter months but the sun is out today) and the beach is sparsely crowded. Surfers are a delight to watch. Near the walking path, there are many steps facing the beach to sit and enjoy the views if you don't want to wander and sit on the sand. Once the hunger alarm goes off, there are several fast causal and restaurants directly across from the beach.

One of Australia's most famous beaches. So interesting that Bondi Beach has been free and open to the public since 1882. Bondi is an Aboriginal word which means "water breaking over rocks." It's a favorite for surfers. The beach is 1 km long. The Bondi Baths are over 100 years old. The Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club is the oldest lifesaving club in the world. The club aims to ensue "No Lives Lost." A beautiful place to spend a warm summer afternoon lounging at a Bondi Beach.

We also people-watched at the local Bondi restaurant, Promenade. Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Sundae & my Bondi Hazy IPA - I know this really does not sound like a good pairing... The sundae was actually for our guest. House Made Soda - See picture. My wife's drink. I think it was club soda with a splash of strawberry syrup...? Atmosphere - Kilometer of white sand beach! Good place to surf, but be safe. Paid street parking, or if you do not mind walking, limited free parking a few more blocks away. So many cool and hip eateries. Some cool decor around the area, see pictures. Kid friendly from the beach to the playgrounds to the markets. We hung out at the Promenade to people-watch after eating lunch at one of the new local hot businesses which is a perfect place to take a break and enjoy the weather, etc. Also see other reviews. Service - Good. Price - Expensive, the Promenade. As expected for a business on the beach that attracts both locals and tourists. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since the 1800's. 1884 - Tramway to beach. 1903 - First bath houses. 1929 - Pavilion.
Looking for things to do in Australia and this consistently showed up. I can see why. Parking: Street parking, paid parking, plenty of parking but this is a popular place so it can get crowded. Vibes: Beautiful. There's something special about the things you see here - clean water, baths, murals, people, and a nice view of the neighborhood. I enjoyed running the walker path, resting near the rocks, and feeling the water. It's quite a sight. Overall: 5 Stars. Lovely! For cheap thrills, this is a great place to check out. Living in LA, OC, SD - California - USA, for some reason this beach stands out. It's probably because of the baths and the balance busy spaces and peaceful spots to meditate or play the didgeridoo (Australian instrument) TL;DR Tips: * Come early if you're trying to hang out in the beach.
First time in Sydney Australia and Bondi beach was one of the top beaches in the world. So we Uber and see the exact place. The city was very nice. I feel the ocean breeze and beautiful green coral blue ocean beach. I wasn't disappointed. The sand was bleached white with good waves for surfers. Lots of people sunbathing. Lots of shops, food restaurants, souvenirs and p The water was inviting to take a swim. I did it. Feels so good. The ocean shore was clean . Make sure visit Bondi beach . Worthy
The flight crew from airplane said that this is their favorite place to go in Australia. The stunning post, delicious restaurants, yoga, swimmers and surfers a part of the appeal. The blue ocean sparkles. We took a scenic ferry from circular Quay to Watson Bay for connecting bus to Bondi. The main beach area in front of the Bondi pavilion is a national heritage icon. Professional lifeguards patrol the beaches daily and even have their own reality TV show called Bondi rescue. There are accredited surf schools here and powerful waves. They were surf and swim shops as well. The Bondi iceberg is at the southern end of the beach and it's one of Australia's oldest swimming clubs remember swim year-round. Between May and November we can spot whales migrating from Bondi. They were cliffs and a coastal walk transformed by sculpture by the sea a free public outdoor sculpture park. There a year-round events festivals markets selling flowers produce fashions and jewelry.
Bondi Beach is incredible. There's a reason it's so popular. From the blue water, to the iconic icebergs, the whole place feels magical. While it's definitely an old beach town, it feels like an oasis. The most gorgeous water I have ever seen. The whole area is filled with delicious food options, as well. From dining in town or closer to the beach, there's something for everyone. And, the shopping is incredible. Favorite eating spot: Common Supply. Açaí bowls: D bowls And make sure to ensure some ice cream while you're there, as well! read more
The beach is absolutely gorgeous no matter which side you are at. It definitely deserves the praise of being one of Australia's most iconic beaches. It is surrounded by the park, shops, skate park, art and more. Absolutely cannot go wrong with the location either. Don't waste any more time and go in for a dip, sun bathe and relax! read more

This beach is absolutely iconic. It's in SO many movies and has been named one of the best beaches in the world. You can take the Sydney public busses to get here pretty easily, and it's about 30 minutes outside of Sydney proper. The surrounding shops and cafes around this beach are fun, colorful and interesting. There's a really good swim shop that I loved, as well as a brunch spot with acai bowls. I knocked off a star just because of how crowded this place is on a weekend. I'd recommend coming in the off season or on a weekday so you can spread out and relax. They also claim that there's beach wifi but that doesn't work. No worries! There are always a ton of surfers here, so they're entertaining to watch. We tried to surf here, but it felt too dangerous since everyone was so close to each other in the water and we weren't good enough to control where the board went. Definitely add this spot to your travel bucket list! read more
Had to make sure I visited this famous Australian Beach while in nearby Sydney. Pulling up you are greeted by the blue water, sandy beaches and coastal rocks. Lot's of parking for tour buses and anything else. Came here in December, summer time here in Australia. Made sure to have lot's of sunblock and coverage. It was still early in the day but that didn't stop all the people from sunbathing, swimming and of course surfing. There are lifeguards on duty. watch the posted signs for information such as strong currents or where to swim. I walked the beautiful sandy white beach and made sure to put my feet in the water... little cold but refreshing. Adventured up the coastal walk a bit but just didn't have enough time to really get to the amazing views. (next time) Grabbed a drink on the boardwalk area where there are a few shops, cafes and pubs. Great to see in person where the volleyball was played during the 2000 summer Olympics and so many movies filmed here. Absolutely loved spending time here, from the clear blue green water, sandy white clean beach and the beautiful coastal scenery. No wonder this iconic beach is so famous. read more
Bondi Beach is another iconic place you can't help to visit while in Sydney. It's also easy to get there without a car. We just caught the bus (#380 or #333) to the beach and back to where we were staying. It was very crowded at the beach because it was a gorgeous day. As hot and sunny as it was, I was shocked to feel how cold the water was. And people were still swimming in it! It felt like ice. I'm too spoiled with Hawai'i beaches to get in water that cold, haha! I have to give Bondi a huge shout-out for their beach cleanup programs. They have a lot of places along the beach offering freebies such as coffees or snacks if you pick up trash off the beach. PRO TIP: Bring sunscreen. It was very sunny and there isn't much shade or trees to hide under. read more

Oh Bondi Beach didn't disappoint. Probably one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. I love the contrast of white sand and black rock. I was there in September the start of Spring in the Southern Hemisphere. It was too cold to get into the water and the beaches were pretty empty. It was still a worthwhile trip. We walked to the famous Iceberg pools and watched the surfers. There's plenty of small cafes and restaurants. Took an Uber pool from Sydney Harbour Quay at 8am on a Monday to Bondi and it cost $18 Aussie dollars. Took the public bus back to the Quay Harbour for $2.80 Aussie dollars. Worth seeing this iconic beach. Fun people watching as well. read more
We took the public bus from Sydney, they get packed tightly to the beach. The beach is quite beautiful, such white lustrous sandy beaches and some kick arse scorching sun, like you have never experienced ever before. My friends and I were out hanging out watching peeps and by the water for about 45 minutes and I had blisters on the back of my legs from that short time out. We didn't have any sunscreen on since we really didn't intend on sunbathing and were hanging out at the cafes and restaurants nearby. The sun is intense and the claim is that even the SPF from home has zero efficacy against the Australian sun at all. Buy it there. I think Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer and I get why. Wear a strong SPF even if you are out briefly here walking. The sun blister was painful for days and kept us hotel bound for several days. read more

Life is a beach. Enjoy the waves! I got inspired with that motto here! Beautiful shades of blue and the sounds of waves is calming! Great place to lie down and enjoy the sunny day! Next to it, has a swimming pool and recreational area where you can enjoy the majestic beach in other ways. There's a slight green park right before you enter onto the sands of the beach. Everything is here. Grab a book, a beach blanket and bathing suit to simply be surrendered in the moment. read more

Beautiful! We took a long walk along the coast and Bondi Beach was our last stop. We had lunch at a cafe near the beach and it was great. I can't remember the name of the place but I remember the food was very good and the staff were very very friendly. The entire experience was unforgettable. I'm from Hawaii and grew up around nice tropical beaches but for some reason I found this area to be especially relaxing. I wish I could come back. In general, the atmosphere and the people here in Sydney are just the best. read more

Bondi Beach is though touristy but still a really nice beach to visit! Easy to get to from CBD with frequent bus services. The beach is huge and you would not fill crowded or overwhelmed even on a busy day (of course unless there is a festival going on!). There are also a lot of dining option of various price point in the area. Since I live in Toronto where the closest ocean/beach is miles and miles away, just love being near the ocean whenever I have a chance.... read more
One of the Best Beaches I've visited!! Bondi Beach is absolutely STUNNING!! The water is clear and beautiful , the sand is smooth and clean, lots of parking , across the street from great restaurants and shops, next to a bus station, great views from the top and lots of space, beautiful shore lines , nice waves and great place to walk and enjoy the company of your love ones. A great beach to have a family outing !! This beach has great sand to make the best sand castles, cool restaurants with lots of choices for kids and a mini park across from the parking lot. The shorelines is spectacular! The view of the houses on the hills is just stunning! I've attached some pics and videos but I personally think the videos and pics don't do this beach any justice. I highly recommend if you're visiting Sydney please don't leave until you visit Bondi Beach!! read more
As a tourist, Bondi Beach is a must visit. Beautiful Aussies, a nice cove/beach area for a swim and sunbathing, tons of parking (if you're driving) and tons of shops (restaurants, gifts, clothing shops, etc.). Getting to Bondi might be a bit hectic from downtown Sydney. It's about 15-20 mins from the city via the subway train with a connection on the bus from the train station. Do some research on which buses you'll need to take. During the summer it does get summer packed. On our visit they had an actual SHARK sighting so the lifeguards kicked everyone out of the water. There was a lifeguard helicopter and a news helicopter flying overhead. There was also one jet ski in the water searching for the shark. After 30 mins they called off the search and let everyone back in. The lifeguards are serious out there! The news crew interviewed them as they got out of the water (i think i was on camera as well). ;) read more
I fell in love at first sight. We visited manly beach before we were able to make our way to bondi, and we were absolutely blown away. The weather was great, and that made it an even better experience. Awesome for people watching, and it's a popular place to learn how to surf. We even got to watch a live leg of "the amazing race australia" which was filming at the Iceberg which was really neat! We did the bondi to congee coastal walk (which i highly recommend) and it was a great way to check out the coast. It was a good long hike. I love how the trail was so pristine and pedestrian friendly. Also enjoyed the outdoor pools that were right on the beach. It's also super clean and filled with beautiful and fit people! haha. made us americans feel fat and out of shape! ;) Hubby wants to come back and stay by bondi beach just so he can surf all day. Great beach area with great shops and restaurants. Don't miss out on bondi beach if you're ever in sydney! read more
The beach is quite beautiful even during the winter. Big waves crashing. Brave souls surfing. Chinese tourists pushing people and stepping on toes inside the souvenir store. A hungry curious cat getting angry after getting pushed and stepped on so she grabs tourist by the arm, pushes him and curses at him in English and Chinese. Good times! You can get surfing lessons, sight-see, walk around, dig your toes in the sand, take pictures, eat and just enjoy the beach. The sand is fine and pretty light in color but not white. The water isn't that clear but overall, it's a nice beach. read more

Beautiful large beach. I have been to Bondi 3 times now and it's always the same... beautiful. I've always visited the beach during winter when there are very few people on it, so we've never had a problem parking (free!) or finding a lovely place to sit and enjoy the scenery. Just because it is winter doesn't mean it is too cold. Several people from my group waded into the surf which was quite active that day because of some storms at sea. We walked down the boardwalk and got a snack, a souvenir, and watched the ocean. There are some cute places to get lunch at the beach as well as large bathroom facilities with showers and changing areas. If you are here in summer, bring a towel and enjoy the beach and water. If it's a little chilly, there is still plenty to see and do - enjoy the beauty of the beach. read more
I know the locals aren't a huge fan of this place, much like the Oahu residents and Waikiki in Hawaii. However, this is a beautiful beach with plenty of people on the sand and in the water. There is the iconic pool off to the side that seems part of the ocean and you can seemingly swim there for under $10 in the pool. There are plenty of eateries, restaurants, and shops at Bondi and is the starting or ending point of the Bondi-Coogee coastal walk. read more
Strolling along the pathway at this famous beach during summer in Sydney is sweet. The shoreline is a bit of a walk from the pathway. During peak times or during certain festivals held here I've seen the beach crowded with people. I came early as to miss as much crowds as possible. Once on the shore the sand feels clean and soft. The water was soothing warm and clear. I get why this is a favorite beach. From the main road I could see the surfers enjoying the waves and not many swimmers. When I got to the water I saw how strong the waves were and the currents. Way too strong and dangerous for leisure swimming. While on Bondi swim between the flags. Don't even chance it. Bondi lifeguards do a lot of rescues here and that is a story you don't want to have. Swim between the flags and let the surfers take on the massive waves. Between the flags there are lifeguards on watch making sure everyone is safe and they've distinguished that area as the safest to swim in. Don't challenge mother nature. It was a perfect beach day for me. Warm and breezy. Not much of a crowd so I got to really enjoy and take it all in. When I left there were heaps of people claiming their spot on the sand. In A Nutshell: -Even on a windy spring day, Bondi Beach was worth checking out. -Did a reverse walk (Coogee to Bondi) bc I wanted to swim a few laps at the popular Bondi Icebergs Club swimming pool, but the weather prevented that. -Bondi Beach is the "South Beach" of Sydney. -There are lot's of shops and places to eat that dot Campbell Parade. -The beach was surprisingly pretty empty for a fairly clear day. Overall, I can imagine that Bondi Beach gets pretty packed during the summer. read more
I am a beach girl and can't believe I have not yet stepped foot in the water ! It will happen soon, hopefully by the time I go to the beach the weather is gorgeous. Every beautiful day has been spent here with family and I love it but shoot - love the beach! Son of a beach, I need to be at the beach! read more
