This was a "must-stop" place when I drove my mother down to Florida. She didn't remember the name, but knew about where it was and that it had "a lot of gourds." Sweet corn was expensive and wasn't sweet corn. Tasted absolutely terrible. Sugar cane was absolutely terrible as well. A must stop in rural Dawson! It's packed with homemade jellies,jams along with many pickled vegetables and of course fresh produce. They have locally grown dried gourds of all sizes but don't forget some of the boiled peanuts . It also has a huge playground for kids. A hayride and a maze. Our field trip was awesome here. Best Strawberry Soft Serve on the planet! My dad had recommended me to stop here for the soft serve, and i was blown away at the quality of the ice cream! The Strawberry was so good! Literally so tasted and you could tell it was very fresh. Stop at the farmers market area, and be sure to buy some fresh veggies. The Okra Chips are amazing as well. On the way to Albany my friend and I drove by this place and I immediately wanted to go visit. Unfortunately, I wasn't the one driving but luckily he mentioned that he wanted to stop by. Due to time constraints it wasn't possible but we did manage to stop by on the return trip. I'm glad that it happened. This is exactly what I imagine with a little roadside farm stand and then some, think decorative stalks of cotton for sale. If I had something to put them in at my apartment I would have bought some. Their brittle is too good, too good. Not overpoweringly sweet, not too nutty. I brought a bag of the pecan brittle out to the field and it disappeared very quickly. Their sweets all looked delicious and homemade but we had eaten a huge meal already so it wasn't possible to buy a chocolate pecan pie then but I will keep it in mind for sure. Their plain, raw peanuts are a steal and I bought a big bag of them, a perfect punch of protein without anything added. I plan on stopping by here every time I make the trip out to Albany. read more

Hubby & I spotted this place on our way home. Stopped & got some okra, squash, tomatoes, peaches & a watermelon. All were fresh & delicious! Peaches were fantastic! Friendly service. I just put the stuff I was buying on the counter while I gathered more stuff. When I was all done with my selections they bagged everything & I paid up. There were other customers but there was hardly a wait to pay. I'm sad that they are 200 miles away. Otherwise I'd be there every week! read more

Asked for a yellow watermelon. Bought the last 2. Got home (in Tallahassee) cut one open. It was a regular watermelon. Cut the second open. Same thing. Don't say and advertise that you have a certain product when you don't. They were $6 a piece. Also, the boiled peanuts were NOT good. Gritty and small with most not having anything inside. They just tasted dirty. Also, your employees (who I might add are children) are rude and are NOT very welcoming. What a disappointment. And what a disappointing way to end a vacation. One place we always stop along the way to his Uncle's house in GA. My mom loves their salsas (especially Ga Peach and Vidalia Onion) and his Mom loves the chow chows. If you like fresh fruits and veggies, please stop here. They also have a full line of sweets, brickles, fudge and divinity for the sugar freaks in the car. My husband lives the butter pecan ice cream and the boiled peanuts. If you arrive during the Halloween season, they have bounce houses, mazes, hay rides and dunking tanks going full bore. Just a wonderful stop as you hit the heavy traffic. My husband spots the Melon patch by the weird tree by the road. You can see it from either direction. read more

Mark could do better with training the clerks! They have no manners whatsoever and clueless on how to help the customers! I was there this morning, after standing in line for a good while, the folks left, some woman went around us and put her food on the counter. Clueless clerks started to wait on her. I spoke up that I was here first! They all looked at me like I was chopped liver and how dare I even suggest that! I told the women you knew I was ahead of you and you said nothing! The one clerk, the tall mousy blonde went so far as to say I was rude! I did not see you. I told her I was hard to miss and you never asked who was next! They have no training whatsoever and that is a bad way to run a business! This area is ripe for another fruit stand with better service without standing forever in a cramped small space! I sure will be first in line to use them! read more

Great find on side of road! We stopped to purchase a pumpkin. However, we ended up leaving with much more! They have fresh produce (i.e., tomatoes, okra, squash, zucchini), a variety of nuts (raw, boiled, sweet, roasted), soft drinks, relishes, pickled vegetables, breads, sweets...lets just say lots of options!! I love this roadside fruit & vegetable stand. It is on a peanut farm. The boiled peanuts are the best I have ever had & I have eaten A LOT of boiled peanuts from A LOT of different places! They have homemade jams, jellies, sauces, cakes and pies. The stand has an old fashion caramel cake with the homemade caramel icing...you can't get them like this anywhere else except your great-grandmother's house! They make mini pecan pies that instantly induce a diabetic coma in which you quickly welcome. Every piece of fruit ever purchased here has been sweet, juicy and ready to eat. I have been stopping at Mark's Melon Patch for the last 14 years since I move to Georgia. I discovered them when we first move to GA, because I love fresh veges, especially from a roadside produce stand. I discovered more than just produce. They have the best candies, sauces , pickled veges , etc. Everytime I go visit my hometown, Jax. Fl. I stop at Mark's and also stop on the way back home to GA. Love Mark's. We have been driving by this place for many years and decided to finally stop since it is always busy. We bought, tomatoes, watermelon and peaches. This was the WORST fruit we have ever had. We get better stuff at the grocery store. The watermelon was all rind, the tomatoes are terrible and peaches were not sweet at all. I see there are great reviews on here but my husband and I will never stop again. It all looked so good, terrible disappointed. read more
