I guess there comes a time in one's life when a tooth needs to be removed. My dentist in NYC…read morerecommended some oral surgeon in Manhattan. The office was very nice. He was extremely expensive. So, I decided to look around and found Dr. Park at Leading Edge. Pulling up to Selden... I was extremely hesitant. The office is in a bit of a run down medical strip mall. The parking lot is big and there are a few flowers and bushes by the office but overall it is somewhat ah old...maybe from the 1970s? Once inside Leading Edge, well things were the same. The AC was blasting away. I immediately wished i was wearing a sweater.A few people were waiting in old chairs. Everyone was staring at their phone. There was a large TV screen on one wall showing some game show. The receptionists sat in a small off shoot of the office. They were very attentive, fast, and professional! Though still hesitant, I was somewhat at ease. After a wait of a few minutes I was led by a dental assistant into the "operating area". The room they put me in was sparse but professional. Super clean. Computers and brand new modern dental equipment. Unfortunately there was a large TV in the room showing a kind of MTV kind of show. The history of rock and roll. Oh, how I hate the music from the 1950s! HATE. Anyway --- Dr. Park came into the room. He was young, smart, and professional. He looked at my x-rays and examined my teeth. He agreed that the tooth ( left upper molar that had root canal a long time ago ) needed to be pulled. He explained everything to me. The whole process of extraction and implantation. The dental assistant sent me off to billing. I received an itemized proposal which was 50% of the Manhattan guy. Fifty - percent! An appointment was made for the extraction and to make a long story short --- everything went very smoothly. Two weeks later I returned to have the extraction. They even called me the next day to check up on my condition. And now for the implant! I am almost looking forward to it...Almost.

My dentist referred me to Dr. Sokoloff to have a molar pulled and implant. I was told by his…read morestaff that I needed a driver for the tooth pull. At my appointment, I learned that the reason for the driver was Dr. Sokoloff would not pull a tooth without sedation. I was reluctant to allow that (a tooth pull does NOT require sedation - a local anesthetic is what most dentists use) but I decided there must be a reason my dentist referred me to him and I followed through. I ended up with severe chronic pain in my jaw and my ear. I had nothing else happen besides him pulling my tooth and it was immediately after. Dr. Sokoloff emphatically denied that anything he did caused my pain. I went to my Primary Care Physician who examined me and concurred it was from the dental work and that she believed he had forced my mouth open too wide during anesthesia. I returned with a letter I had written, including the fact that there was no need for anesthesia in the first place, that my PCP assessed the pain from Dr. Sokoloff's rough treatment during sedation, and that I would NOT allow anesthesia for the implant so I could monitor his procedure and tell him if he was hurting me. He continued to deny it (scared of a lawsuit I'm sure) and refused to perform the implant without sedation. I wanted to find another dentist for the implant but....at that point, I realized it would be more costly to go elsewhere. I absolutely threatened him that if I woke up to jaw pain and ear ache I was suing him (not a great way to go into surgery). Fortunately, I had no pain after the implant. I suggest you have a regular dentist pull the tooth and go somewhere else for the implant. I won't go back and I absolutely do not recommend him. I think his insisting on sedation for a pulled tooth is to coverup anything that goes wrong during procedure. (Note: many oral surgeons do NOT require sedation for these procedures and without anesthesia (or the very expensive mal-practice insurance that is needed), the cost will be significantly less. Just find another oral surgeon.

After spending the first 29 years of my life always hating, fearing, and agonizing dentist visits,…read moreand always bouncing around different offices desperately hoping to find a place that at least wasn't completely awful, at the age of 30 I finally fell in love with one! I don't even know where to begin. Everyone was just so nice and respectful, and professional and happy to be at work! The receptionists were just lovely. The woman (I forget her name and job title, regrettably) who did my cleaning and X-rays was just a saint!! She went out of her way to calm me down and make me feel comfortable, gave helpful and encouraging advice, and just showed genuine compassion and understanding. The best part was the cleaning itself. Literally every single time I have told new dentists I have sensitive teeth. Still every single time the cleanings were downright torturous. But not here!!! I told her I had sensitive teeth, so she went out of her way to make sure it wouldn't hurt! I didn't feel a thing, except that awesome clean feeling afterward. It's been a few weeks now but I still just cannot get over how amazing the experience here was. Now I FINALLY have a dentist I can make my own permanently.

Since Dr Arvilli left, the place went downhill fast. I've been coming to this dentist for TWENTY NINE years. I called to make an appointment to just find out that they will no longer take me as a patient since I've had cancellations in the past. Cancellations in which they charge me for. Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting office.

When my dentist Dr. Grasskemper of Bellport told me this, I was far from thrilled! He recommended Dr.Bear and I'm happy he did. From the start the office manager Mindy made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Dr.Bears assistant Yvonne did her best to try to assure me that all will be fine and talked to me to help relax me before the procedure. Dr. Bear himself was very reassuring and made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the whole procedure. To be quite honest I was expecting the worse and what I experienced was a caring comfortable experience , ( as comfortable as oral surgery can be) . Dr. Bear made sure throughout the entire procedure that I was okay and explained things along the way making me feel safe in his care. While periodontal surgery is on no ones Christmas list, if you need to have it done I highly recommend Dr. Bear and his staff. While I have more yet to be done in the future , I will now be less anxious knowing it's a caring professional staff who will do their personal best to get me through these procedures.
