I took a wedding band that I purchased in another state here to be rhodium plated. I went here primarily because they had been highly recommended, and I wanted quality service. They plated the ring and got it back to me. When I picked it up it was fine, then within 48 hours I noticed a diamond (extremely small diamond "chip" one of about 20 on the ring) had fallen out. I've had the ring for 10 years so it's unlikely it's a coincidence. However, I couldn't say that anything particularly unprofessional or malicious had been done, this may have simply been something that was loose and bound to come out. I took it back to be replaced. A small apology but no real offer to try to "make it right". I paid for it to be repaired and replaced. Got the ring back. Looked great. Within 4 days, the diamond had fallen out again. I can forgive the first time, but the second time is unacceptable - either they did a shoddy job putting the diamond in, got a wrong sized diamond replacement, or something is wrong with the ring setting which I should have been made aware of and quoted a price to repair it. At this point I've driven across town 4 times total and I wasn't interested in going back again since I didn't expect much and didn't want it to be messed up again. Giving 2 stars only because they were generally polite to me and I know I didn't really give them a chance to fix their final mistake which is on me. But overall I'd avoid this place for repairs. read more

I needed a battery and also had a possible issue with my watch. There are only 2 stores in the Knoxville area who are points of sale for this watch. I had heard great things about Markmans but had never shopped there . I was greeted as I entered the store and immediately waited on. The battery was replaced and the issue with a small clip was resolved. The sales associate hands my watch back with a smile and says, "Keep an eye on the watch for a few days to make sure it is keeping correct time. If not bring the watch back in and we will take it from there". No Charge !!! I was shocked. I said are you sure ? She replied we don't charge for battery replacements and added would you like your rings or jewelry cleaned today I will definitely continue to shop there I'm also telling everyone I know about this store. Final update after all is said and done: It ended up taking 3.5 MONTHS to get my ring. Nothing can make up for the emotions we went through every week thinking we'd have our engagement ring soon or every time someone congratulated us and asked to see the ring. We wouldn't have been as irate at Markman's had they not been so apathetic and horrible at follow-up and communication with us. A Drastic change is needed in their processes, or lack of, in that area as we were in contact with numerous employees and not one of them followed up either at all or consistently enough with us. During the 14-15 week period, we were also never offered a refund or alternate option vs waiting...the wait time was never correct, etc. Many misses on their behalf. In the end, however, the ring was finally done right and is beautiful, the main stone high quality, and we were compensated enough for our time to relieve the anger toward the company. If I could give them a 3.5, that would be my final rating. read more

Purchasing jewelry can be extremely stressful and I was thankful for their guidance along the way. We had a lot of questions regarding diamond selection, colored gems, lab grown vs natural and they were more than willing to help educate us. I'm incredibly upset about my experience in the store today. I walked in and started looking around. Not one store associate addressed me, or asked how they could help me find a wedding band. I waited at the same case for 20 minutes with plenty of associates waiting around and no one helped me. I even asked for help and made plenty of eye contact with others. My fiancé and I have been highly upset by the way the big box stores handled my engagement ring, and wanted to try someone local. Clearly Markman's didn't want our business either. Took my John Hardy Naga bracelet into Markmans, a JH dealer, on the 12th of February, they had two weeks, they said, to send it off and they should hear how much it would cost to fix the clasp..possibly two months, since they ship them to Bali. (The third time in the last 8 years I've had to fix the clasp. I wear it everyday, so that's ok.) In April I called them to find out what happened, and they told me they were waiting on me to give them the okay to have the $150.00 spent to fix it. I had already stated, having paid to have it fixed already in the past, to go ahead. I guess they didn't understand. I'm May I called again, and the manager called me back to say the shop in NY was closed, so they had no clue, but he said they were waiting on me to give them the ok...AGAIN! I just called, May 30. The woman who answered, impatient with me, said the shop was still closed. I don't care if it is, someone knows where my bracelet is, and when and or/if when I'll get it! As far as I know, they haven't even started. Markmans wasn't closed until early April, so you tell me how they can't know when it will be done...Feb.12- March-April-May 30? Does anyone know how to at least keep their customers aware? NO! We do! We own a business and we have kept our customers aware! I have decided to stop going to Markmans because of the snobby staff, the terrible customer service follow up. Maybe they are that way because they're doing financially so well! Good for them! I just bought, in February, $1600.00 (they went down on the price) sapphires earrings, the same day I took my bracelet in, but I will not go back..unless it's to pick up my JH. Not lucky for them. My fiancé and I went to Markmans to look for his ring--we wanted to shop at a local store. Even though we were just browsing around, the staff was kind and helpful and not at all pushing us into making a purchase. They even gave us a ring cleaning solution for my engagement ring purchased from another jeweler. We eventually bought his wedding band from Markmans and they had it ready for pickup in two days (originally told us a week) and resized it same-day a week before our wedding. The staff is so helpful and kind and genuinely just wants to make their customers happy and help them find the perfect pieces of any occasion. Horrible customer service. Was given the runaround. Tried to get a new ring for my wife for our 10th anniversary. We originally bought her ring she has now there and they stated that if we traded in her old ring they would give us $640 for it if we also paid at least $640 and they said they could do the new ring and wrap for around $1300 ($640 trade in plus $640 in cash) , she showed them the wrap she wanted for the new ring (which she found on the internet) and they stated they couldn't make it to just buy that wrap and they would do the ring so we wouldn't get charged for the wrap. We bought the wrap and brought it in. They then stated they could have made that wrap and it would be better if they did. So we sent the wrap back and got a refund. So we finally get the salesman and the jeweler together (which was a feat in itself) and the jeweler said he could do it. Then they stated the price. $1900 (which is $600 over what they quoted us). Of course we didn't get it and now we can't get the wrap back from the place on the internet that my wife did like. And I have no time to get it in time for our Anniversary so my wife has to wait for it because we are now back at square one.. Thanks alot for the runaround. read more

I'm not usually the type to write a review, but Markman's really helped me out. I have been twice, and both visits were excellent. Terri Bartow, my sales consultant, guided me to the rings I was looking for, and she answered every question I had about them. Her customer service was outstanding, not pushy, she was patient, and she was knowledgeable about her rings and diamonds. Mr. Markman also came out to help me find a ring that is as special as my fiancee. He personally selected a triple excellent cut diamond that worked with the mounting I preferred, and amazingly enough the diamond was within my price range. I seldom ever write bad reviews of a business, but my contact with Markman's today was the last contact I will ever have. I have been going into this store for twenty years, and I guess all they want to do now is sell expensive jewelry and not repair it. When the senior Mr. Markman was alive, the business was friendly. I took an heirloom opal ring in for repair. The prongs needed rebuilding and I had lost a diamond. I asked if rubies could be put in instead of diamonds to commemorate both my parents' birthstones. The gentleman took it to the back and returned with the answer that "It was too labor intensive," and "too much trouble," and they were "backed up three weeks." I also heard another customer being told they could not fix her jewelry either and they brushed her off as well. I have always been met with kindness and even enthusiasm, but this trip has turned me off permanently. If they can't be accommodating when a sentimental piece of jewelry needs fixing, they don't need my business if I decide to buy a Rolex watch either. read more
