For those of you looking for fine dining in Hickory and have been spending your money at Cafe Rule; you're missing out. Come here and enjoy a great meal for a fair price. To the owner - please change your name on here to Duke's as Market on the Main is misleading and says that you're closed on Saturday. read more

Duke's being open for dinner is an asset to Hickory. We had a lovely dinner, duck and crabcakes. Meals are inclusive, and everything was delicious. Service was excellent, atmosphere delightful, soft piano music in the background. I am looking forward to returning soon. I have attended several events held at Market on main and the attention to detail and quality of food always amazes me. I have been to wedding rehearsals, Christmas parties, corporate meetings, and social events upstairs, downstairs, and on the patio. Each event has had an entirely different food theme, some buffets and some plated dinners.... they are all superb. The wait staff is efficient and friendly. Very quick clearing plates and topping of drinks. The space it self lends well to watching presentations, hearing speakers, and seeing live music. I would recommend MOM to anyone who wanted to host an event, casual or formal. The owner is an excellent menu planner and the food, service, and ambiance can not be paralleled. read more

Discussed and agreed upon details of an event, was sent a contract to review, and then the owners booked someone else in our spot who came in at the last minute and paid a deposit - without giving us the option of paying a deposit first, as we had an agreement first. Poor business model if this is how they operate. Would not recommend doing business with them. I do not know anything about the service or the food. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant. Their food is amazing. Their portions are quite large and the presentation is very impressive. Sophia (spelling?) is probably the best and most enthusiastic server I have ever had. I hope this place continues to thrive. We are truly excited to have a chef of this caliber here. We had dinner last night in the new restaurant in Market On Main - Duke's Restaurant & Wine Bar. What a fantastic experience We went there because our children had given us a gift certificate, and our daughter (who lives in Hickory) had recommended it. The menu items' prices are comparable to any good restaurants', but one difference is that the price includes either a salad or soup off the menu plus a small dessert at the end of the meal. My wife had an excellent salad and later the prime strip loin steak, and I had delicious crab and corn chowder and the seafood mélange. The steak came to the table perfectly prepared (medium) with an accompaniment of potatoes and julienned vegetables. The seafood included generous portions of lobster, shrimp, and scallops, again with mashed potatoes and julienned vegetables. The meal was capped off with a small (but just right) dessert "spoon," one a sort of coconut pudding cake and the other a strawberry version of that same type of dessert. I had a Riesling wine with the meal, and we both had coffee, which was delicious. This restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem because it's a little challenge to find, but it's very near the Hickory Post Office and Downtown Hickory. Believe us, it's well worth finding read more

We hosted our wedding reception at TABLE at MARKET ON MAIN Saturday, June 4th.They promised a lot and delivered a little. We paid for a plated dinner of salad, roll, filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. IT WAS NASTY!! At $40 A PLATE I had expected so much more! The salad had NO croutons, NO cheese, NO onion, NO egg, NO anything to make me think it was anything different than a bag of mixed salad from walmart. They topped it with about a tablespoon of watery ranch dressing, which was unappetizing. The filet mignon had NO TASTE , i'm almost convinced they boiled it and stuck it in a warming drawer. The mashed potatoes were good, but it was a small ice cream scoop worth. And they only gave us ONE ASPARAGUS per plate. Considering it's asparagus season that doesn't make much sense to me. On top of only having one asparagus the oil it was cooked in was burnt, you could taste it. After trying to speak to an owner the night of our wedding about our food being bad we were told the owner John was "very busy upstairs and can't come down". The girl Emily that attended me was very rude and disrespectful to me after trying to contact them about my complaints. She told me all of my complaints were "invalid" & I was "unpleasable". After asking to speak to the owners she told me "NO, You don't have anything to talk to them about". When I finally talk to one of the owners, Ressa, she promises to call me back and never does. I have made several attempts to have a sit down meeting with the owners, but I never get a response. read more
