I like the convenience of location. BUT, lately the produce section has gone down in quality. Many fruits on the shelves are past their freshness dates. Plums and grapes have been soft and ready to go bad. The unpacked green peppers sold by the pound, were wrinkled and soft. I don't buy meat there any more. After buying " extra lean" beef and getting it home, only to find fatty pieces hidden under the top layer. For now, I just purchase things like coffee, frozen foods and canned goods, etc and save my money to purchase produce and meats elsewhere. Checkout clerks are friendly but some of the younger baggers will talk your ears off. read more

My daughter is being sexually harassed by an employee of Epping Market Basket who also happens to be a student at Sanborn Regional High School & even plays on the Sanborn football team. This individual thinks it's funny to bully people and when he doesn't get the result he wants, he started to sexually harass her both at school and at the store. When I spoke to tonight's assistant manager on duty (Sunday 12/07 at 5p) named Mike, he refused to do anything and expected my daughter to come in to be harassed even further. Market Basket should really consider the level of authority they have in place, to ask a young teenage girl to come in to be embarrassed and harassed any further. read more

This grocery store is awesome: Fantastic selection in every department, very well organized with exceptional produce and takeaway meal options at gentle prices. This newer store is huge and there's clearly an enormous effort the staff makes to continuously and fully stock it without pallets or stacks of boxes being in the aisles. I don't know how they do it; it's almost magical. I ooh'd and ahh'd in the produce department whose selection bested any higher priced "food museum" store (I totally stole that description from someone I know). If you're health oriented, vegetarian or a serious home cook, this Market Basket has a produce department three times the size of their Stratham store. The meat department needs to step it up because both the ground beef and pork shoulder had expiration dates two days out. I didn't take note of the quick expiration dates at the store but luckily caught it while organizing the overpacked fridge during Thanksgiving weekend. I'll pay a pretty penny for groceries but I'll grouse for days if I waste food on a dumb oversight. The prepared food section is ideal for those who don't like to cook - or just need a night off. Meats, Produce are not fresh, bring them home smells gross then turn rotten sitting in trucks 2 weeks before put out for customers. Try and return and they refuse told they don't want it back, store manager had to get involved for bad lettuce never again no one needs to be harassed for bad food. read more

This is a nice,well-stocked, clean store and for the most part the personnel are fantastic, but at 7:30 this morning a nasty checkout woman at the quick checkout lane refused to take me without "counting my items first". There was nobody there but me and nobody was approaching. I had one cart of items with most all in the child seat area. Granted, more than twelve, but the only other open lane had two people in line with very full carts. I had to split my items leaving some in the store. A checkout manager then opened the second quick check-out line opposite the other. I checked out there with my first twelve items and a woman with a nearly full cart joined the line behind me. I had to take my twelve items to the car and go back into the store buy the rest of my stuff. On my way back in the woman with the nearly full cart (who had previously joined the line behind me) was leaving with her nearly full cart having successfully checked out through a "12 Items or Less" line". My total items in both transactions added to seventeen. Six were identical cans of chicken broth. I was livid. They've got a problem finding help, but some employees should simply be relegated to working out back. read more

I'm a loyal Market Basket customer in Plaistow, but the local store has gotten increasingly frustrating. Fortunately, I can combine grocery shopping at the Epping store with a weekly trip to the north, so it's not far out of my way. The Epping store has a decent amount of space, so there aren't a lot of traffic jams. The prices are well marked, and they're low. It even has a Market's Kitchen for buying lunch while shopping (but no seating inside the store, unlike a few others in the chain). In brief, it has pretty much everything I'd ask of a Market Basket. What keeps it from getting a 5-star rating is that the Market's Kitchen is rather disorganized. You can take a number, but they ignore the numbers and serve the person at the front of the line, so you'd better not wander. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries, but the fries were put on only when the sandwich was almost ready, and I had to wait another five minutes. If they can just fix these issues, I'd be glad to change my rating to 5 stars. read more

Wow! Very attractive new store, extra clean, loaded with products and everything with very moderate pricing. What's not to like? We've been by twice and found they have an incredible to-go selection that includes hot and cold dishes and lots of choices, all reasonably priced. The staff has been uncommonly helpful. And their shelves -- this is. big store -- are overflowing with selections, much larger than in our area groceries in Connecticut. And did I mention low prices? Here's one example (we could cite others): Progresso soups $2.29 per can - in Connecticut $3.19. Breads at $2.49 per loaf compared to $3.69 in CT. Wish this market was much closer. And curiously, there is a Market 32 in our area (part of similar chain) which does not compare well. We envy those who live close enough to shop here regularly. read more

ok, I don't often give a 5 but this place definetly deserves it!! When you walk in the first thing you realize is the store is pristine, absolutely so. Then you walk around and realize the prices are beyond good, there the best. The selection is phenomenal, any brand, any type.... then the produce is fresh, I mean you can get a bad piece of produce, but so can't you any where else. So long as you keep it a rarity and not a norm, which that is the case here. But it's the staff that out shines all else!! I have never gone to a store, where every employee does an outstanding job trying to be there for the customer. Exceptional!! read more

I love this store! It is more old school than any store in the area. The customer service is top notch and a few employees stand above that. The meat, produce, EVERYTHING is fresh. The butcher will cut anything you need. He is fantastic and very personable. There is never a shortage of selection anywhere in the store. We love the bread baked and the sweet treats in a large variety at the bakery. Apple cider doughnuts are AMAZING. The front end is always filled with employees and they are very nice. The clerk who bags and does carriages Johnathan is an outstanding employee! You can tell he truly loves his job and is so happy to help anyone out with their bags. Overall, this Market Basket does a fantastic job. Meats, produce, dairy, bakery - all A+ in my book. But the Market Kitchen is a whole different story. From pre made salads that are 3/4 full and have to be thrown out the day after you buy them due to spoilage, to rude employees, this department is a bust. No question some of the folks there do a great job, but this is the only dept. that I've had an issue with. And what the heck is up with staffers telling customers that there is no more fried chicken and we won't make more at 5:00 on a Saturday afternoon? Concerned about waste? How about cooking to order and keeping the customer happy? read more

I find this new Market Basket to be a great addition to the local area. This MB is in the new Brickyard shopping center and it is filling up fast. Parking is still ample and they always have carts available inside for customers use. Just as a note, they have a Redbox outside on the south side of the store. The location features the full kitchen service which is great to have although in have witnessed them taking frozen product out of the freezer section for food preparation, ie onions, peppers etc. for the steak bombs. I have asked for a few items to be brought into this store and after a bit of time the items have arrived. Only reason for the 4 stars vs. 5 are for the following reasons. 1.) Produce is rough at times even with produce stockers putting berries out with fuzz on them. Duh! 2.) The baggers just don't give a second to consider and respect your items. A box of cereal doesn't belong in a bag with a container of ice cream or milk. read more

So nice to be able to shop in our favorite grocery store (wonderfully low prices, good quality and selection, clean store), and save some money, once again, after the employee walkout in support of the newly reinstated CEO (pending deal closing of course). It's rare to see that kind of devotion to an employer. Lot of "thank you for the support" signs posted outside, and inside. Like many other customers, we respected the employees' choice and stayed away for the duration. They're madly working to get stock back in, and still some empty shelves which is to be expected. It's actually remarkable how much fresh produce, dairy and meats they've been able to get in place in three days. Wonder how many energy drinks the warehouse/trucking staff are going through to get goods distributed! The one thing today that really made us happy was a non-smelly seafood department. Hard to walk near the deli/seafood area when it stinks like a fishing wharf. That's fine if you're actually dock side, but not great indoors. Guess they did a real thorough scrub down when things were slow. We've been in a couple other MBs that have the same issue, and others that don't. Will be interesting to see if the smell returns. Anyway it was nice to get back to our Sunday morning routine of breakfast and then groceries before the store got too busy. Obviously even less busy than usual this morning, and cashiers waiting to help you check out, but things returning to normal in double quick time. Happiness is... :) read more

Note: I used Walmart as a comparison for my review because, until now, it was the single grocer in Epping and the next closest was Raymond. Market Basket has the best produce in the area, with a tie going against Stop and Shop, except Market Basket is a better value all around. Not as cheap as Walmart, but if you look at the produce you'll notice the difference. I'm willing to pay a few cents more per item if the produce quality at Market Basket is better. Market Basket never has long lines because they have almost every register open and can open the few remaining closed ones if it gets too busy. When I used to go to Walmart they would have 2 registers opened and the line was long a wait. The place is always busy, especially on weekends. I know a person that works there as a second job and she reports they treat the employees well and give them fair to great pay and benefits. That can't always be said for Walmart. This is a great addition to the grocery shopping locations in the Epping/Raymond area. I'm a huge fan! read more

What more can you say about a store that actually understands their customers and their market. They just get it. And, it is always well managed. I don't know what it's like to work there - probably tough. But, you are part of a team killing it in the super market business. No other market compares. The sicilian pizza is very good with just the right amount of dough and a sweet tangy sauce. The thin crust pizza is also very good. I just went to this store this afternoon. It was very crowded and about half the staff were wearing masks. I asked the manager why and he said only managers have to wear masks but for everyone else it's optional. He told me they provide masks for all employees. Unacceptable and dangerous. Totally agree with JM. The store overall is great but the meat department is super. I also know them by name. They are fabulous at cutting prime rib for the holiday. Even told me how to cook it. Always comes out perfectly. The bakery is awesome. Hard working staff and a great manager. I have shopped MB/ Demoulos since 1973 starting in the old store in Lowell. Have shopped various locations because of moving over 45 years. Had lots of favorites. Epping is definitely my favorite. They listen to suggestions, try to get specialty items and work very hard. To the gentleman who complained about a smell, I am there once or twice a week and have no idea what you are smelling. Prices beat Hannaford hands down. read more

I usually shop at this Market Basket. The prices are very competitive. Today I happened to shop at Whole Foods in Massachusetts and noticed that many of the exact same brand name items I buy were 50-75% more expensive at WF. Market Basket is actually slightly less expensive than Walmart Supercenter, the store is newer and cleaner, and the produce section is much better. The store is well-staffed, short waiting times to check out and employees are attentive. They tend to be overzealous about credit card rules, I have had them check signatures and refuse to let me purchase a $7 order using my roommates credit card, I can understand policy but a bit of common sense and discretion would have been appreciated. read more

This is not your normal old crusty Demoulas or Market Basket. This place is huge, stocked constantly and has every checkout lane open all the time. The meat department is second to none. I know the meat guys by name, ask for a whole hog and they can materialize one. Whatever type of meat you want you can get from this place. They will custom cut meats, order you whatever crazy meat you want and are by far the most pleasant people to deal with. There is like 100 feet of meat on display and 4 butchers working in the back at any given time. The store is overall great and has a great layout, the cooked deli stuff and pizza is 100% awesome. There is rarely a line at checkout here, this place knows how to keep registers open. The staff is constantly cleaning, moving, stocking or helping. The employees always seem happy and willing to help with whatever you need. It seems odd to gush about a market basket but this place delivers. The meat department is the best. The guys who run the meat department should get an award, the amount of meat they present and go through is crazy. These guys have great attitudes and go out of their way to help me every day I am in there. I really hope some manager at Market Basket reads this, this store in Epping is awesome. Best grocery store great at every location and great prices. Its obvious that the employees love working there.

My only issue with this MB (and it's a big one) is I rarely am able to get away without the bagger damaging or squishing one of my groceries. While it SHOULD be common knowledge, please make more of an effort to educate your employees that a loaf of bread should NEVER go on the bottom of a bag and then have chicken breasts and soup cans piled on top. While I understand many employees know this and are great, one incidence like this is too many. And it's happened many more times than that. I should not come home to flattened bread or flattened cracker boxes. read more

Although a bit of a hike for me, I like this market basket. It is well organized, clean, new, and "supersized". I especially like their hot/ premade foods area, but dislike that they only have one small table to eat inside. Bummer. I like to eat before I shop so I don't go crazy and buy fatty foods. They are my go to place. I never shop anywhere else. Lifelong fan. I've been shopping here since I was an adult and my family shopped Market Basket since I was a kid and it was called Demolas. When we lived in Vermont, we'd drive to Claremont or Lebanon to shop at a MB. The Epping location is my favorite now, I always see the same smiling faces. read more

This is by far the best Market Basket location around, and I have shopped at quite a few! Great selection of food here; they even have an aisle dedicated to organic produce. They're also fairly quick to stock up on things that aren't available at other grocery stores, such as speciality ice creams like Halo Top and local craft beers and wines. They have a great bakery and deli selection. I have ordered a large sandwich platter here for my child's birthday party and the deli man was very helpful in assisting with the right sized platter for the amount of people and ensuring that it was ready for pick up ahead of time. Employees are super friendly, everyone from the butchers who offer help with your meat selections, to the cashiers and baggers. I have even received the star treatment here with a "personal umbrella holder"! A young man named Liam(?) held an umbrella out over me and my son to prevent us from getting wet as we pushed the carriage to my car on a rainy day. Other gentlemen, I believe their names are Bill and Edward, have gone out of their way to help load groceries and take the cart back when you're finished shopping; and there is a nice and very conversational young man who does as well, though I can't think of his name! "Artie T." should be very impressed with the outstanding service and upkeep of this location-- top notch!! read more

I love this store!! It's nice, neat and organized. If you have trouble finding something, the employees will help you find it. I also found out that if they don't carry an item that you want, they will do their best to get it for you if they can, which is a nice feature for those with special diet requirements. read more

This store had great options and decent prices. I was HIGHLY frustrated and will no longer go to Market Basket due to my last experience. I spent an hour and a half shopping with my almost 1 year old, went to the check out and wrote out a check. The cashier asked if I had a membership card. I of course did not. She told me it was no problem and I could sign up. I went to customer service and filled out a form- bank acct info, husbands info- that seemed to want too much information. I was then told that I couldn't write the check out for more than 75. I spoke with a manager who said there were no exceptions to this rule and nothing he could do. I became frustrated and asked if he had every shopped with a kid for an hour and a half. He said he does it with two. While I understand that I was over the top with frustration... He is the manager and his reaction to me was unnecessary and inapropriate. Needless to say 150 dollars worth of groceries had to be put back and I then had to re-shop with my kiddo at another store. I did not see anything about a membership card. Who knew a manual was needed to shop here? read more
