Had the opportunity to see the MUSE/IQUE with the music of Joni Mitchell. Have lived in/near LA all of my life, and had never been to the Mark Taper before -- was so impressed with the staff and the intimate seating ... not a bad seat in the house. Also the sound system is top notch. Parking on the weekend was only $10, but you can take Metro and get off at the Bunker Hill station and walk a few blocks. Will definitely be back again.

Very cool theater-in-the-round type of venue, offering clear views from every seat. Valet parking is $43. Clean, sleekly designed restrooms, complete with mirrored disco ball columns flanking the entry. I travelled just to see Here Lies Love - I was so bummed when the production closed up shop in NY a few years back. When I heard it was coming to LA, I booked my flight before I even got my show tickets lol

The Mark Taper Forum is a great intimate venue! Its circular layout is unique and allows for shows like Here Lies Love to include immersive elements seamlessly. The seats were comfortable and it seemed like there were no bad seats in the house. It has kind of a floor section plus 1 level. The sound was pretty good. The lobby area is small, so it's not a place to linger. The restrooms are downstairs. They were very clean and I thought it was a nice touch that they were also a circular layout. The outdoor area is nice - there are limited options around for food and drinks, but there is also an open seating area. My friends and I brought our own food and ate there before going in. Parking in the Music Center Garage was $10 cash, paid when entering to park. It's a large underground parking garage with plenty of spaces, but I got there a couple hours early and still had to go to P6. I would recommend anticipating a little extra time for parking.

When the Mark Taper Forum reopened in late 2024 it's done so not only with a magnificent redo but also with a slate of powerful, meaningful and moving pieces of performance much needed for the LA landscape and representative of the wonderful diversity that exists in this beautiful community. I've seen a few shows here including Def West's production of American Idiot which was brilliant showcasing ASL and song and Here Lies Love which just premiered this month celebrating an incredibly talented Filipino cast. Featuring voices in all shapes and forms is incredibly uplifting and inspirational and in a venue where there truly is not a bad seat in the house! The acoustics in here are terrific. Parking also is easy - $10 garage underground- bring cash! Some dining options in the area, make reservations if you can especially for pre theater dinner time!

Mark Taper Forum is one of those theaters where you genuinely feel close to the action no matter where you sit. The space is intimate without feeling cramped, and the round stage with the audience partially surrounding it creates some really interesting sightlines that keep your attention locked in. I had the chance to see Here Lies Love, and it was fantastic, energetic, immersive, and at times felt more like stepping into an experience than simply watching a traditional stage show. There were moments where it almost felt participatory in the best way, which made the performance even more memorable. The venue itself is relatively small, but that only adds to the magic and makes every seat feel like a good one. This is easily a place I would return to without hesitation for the right production.

This is my first time attending at the Mark Taper Forum. A very intimate theater in the round there are elevators that will take you to the restrooms down below and your seats up above. I will consider this a very good venue for small productions. It is one of the older theaters located on the block just opposite of the LA opera Theatre. The decorum is somewhat antiquated, considering the tiles on the wall.

A little long overdue review but I really enjoyed my first play at the Mark Taper forum. Me and about a group of 10 of us ladies went to see the Jaja'a African hair braiding play in November. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us find our seats. We sat in upper left corner which we could still see but next time I'd love to sit in the center to really see all the angles of the stage. The play was modern and the actresses and actors really were incredible, and kept my attention all the way through. I will definitely be back to this season to experience another play!!

This place within the art district of DTLA on Grand Ave is full of life this weekend. Surrounded by other theatres, it is a nice place to hang out even if you are not watching a show. The energy across the street from Gloria Molina park is exciting albeit more reserved for the younger group. Mark Taper Forum is a medium sized auditorium with perfect angles that would render unobstructed view of the stage and without a "nose bleed" section to boot. Acoustics are great, ushers are courteous and helpful. A plus for the forum is that the steps are moderate and not steep particularly for audience that may have slight mobility issues. I am looking forward to my next musical!!

Saw Here Lies Love and it was just mediocre. The supporting female cast had better voices than the lead singer. In particular, the nanny was great. Both male lead actors were outstanding. The only thing that's bothersome is they keep on raising the guard rails.

Had never heard of the Mark Taper Forum prior to going to see their performance of Hamlet. After our visit, I will definitely be looking into seeing another play here. The theatre is small but mighty. Much less seating than I anticipated, but that just made the experience that much more intimate and impressive. They have a small bar serving drinks and snacks as well as a small merch table. Bathrooms were really nice, too. Should probably have looked more into the area before visiting - if I had, we totally would've gotten food and drinks beforehand in the little plaza out front. It was so festive, had plenty of seating, and looked nice - will definitely do this first on a return visit. Parking was super easy in the Music Center Main Garage right next door - easy to enter and easy to leave. And it was only $10. And, of course, Hamlet was phenomenal. Overall, very impressed with Mark Taper Forum, and I know I'll be back to see another play in the future.

Still a great imitation venue to go for a play, or in this case musical. Wonderful staff and wonderful clean, spacious, comfy forum. Can't wait for next one.

Came here to take advantage of comped tickets from my nonprofit work. We watched Jaja's African Braiding and it was such a magical experience. Given all the upsetting attacks on our immigrant communities, it was so nice to be immersed in a creative experience among fellow open-minded folks who want to feel in a way that enables connection and inspiration rather than despondency. The center itself is beautiful and historic, it was easy to navigate from the dedicated (paid) parking, and the venue itself allows you to get a great view from any angle. It is a relatively intimate theatre which makes any play you see even more immersive. Really recommend this venue and aim to come back soon for another showing.

Miriam Y.

I have such a wonderful and beautiful experience every time I visit this theatre! I've sat in different seats and was able to view the performance adequately. Last show I got to see was, "Jaja's African hair Braiding" the actors, the set up, the lighting all of it was pretty incredible! I love the outdoor area that they have to catch some drinks and mingle after or before the show as well! I will definitely be coming back to enjoy more shows!

I recently just watched a musical here at the Ahmanson Theatre here in Los Angeles…read more I've been here once before many years ago to watch Mary Poppins. I don't live too far away from here but it's always a trek coming down to downtown LA. And the tickets I received is said to park in the music center garage. Parking was $10 and really efficient. It took a while to get our bearings to find out where we could park and what was available. And at the very end, it was actually pretty efficient to get out of there as well. We're on level P6 and we were directed to go down towards the lower level and everything was very efficient to then come back up to the surface.. It's a beautiful venue. It's not huge, but they're able to make great use of the space. We sat in the balcony and got a great view and we were able to see everything fairly well. There are lots of concession stands throughout and you're even able to pre-order drinks and snacks and beverages for the intermission. Overall, it's a great venue, it's even closer to me than the Pantages, where they have a lot of other musicals as well. We caught a great show here too. This is definitely a hidden gem that I'll be excited to come back to again in the future when there are future events. Everything is so well organized and it was a great experience.

Positives: -If you're driving, once you get through traffic to DTLA it's just off the freeway with beyond reasonable parking at $10. If you're taking public transit its not a far walk from the Civic Center/Grand Park stop; roughly 10 minutes. -They have a 15% processing fee for online ticket purchases vs 20% at the Pantages. Negatives: -They do programs here vs playbills so as a collector it's a really big letdown that it won't fit in your playbill binder, frame, etc. as the programs are larger. -Esthetically it has almost a collegiate lecture hall vibe to it with the wood paneling and tan seats. There's no drama or emotion within the building. -The staff here seems less invested in the productions. I've only been to 2 shows and the staff didn't seem to be consistent/care if people were filming the show on their phones. I saw them approach one person in front of me but allowed another person a few seats over to film. Any other theatre I've been to in LA or New York they are very strict about filming with some even making you delete the video immediately in front of them. -Each row is about 30-45 seats so if you're in the middle you're either stuck or going to be bothering a lot of people to exit. Contrast this to the Pantages which is on average 7-14 seats.

This review is specific for the cabaret show hosted by Club Bahia. For the review on the club…read moreitself, check its dedicated business Yelp page. I don't know if I went to the show with too high of an expectation, but the truth is, I didn't walk away being fully blown away. I was adequately entertained, but not at the level that I came to expect from cabaret or burlesque shows in general. It's probably important to preface that I am more accustomed to seeing big production versions of shows in the same vein, such as Zumanity, in Las Vegas setting. And while I do realize entertainment of that caliber is in a different ballpark altogether, it's difficult not to compare. Billed as a homage to Tarantino films, which I know just (barely) enough to appreciate the many reference of the show, Tarantina is still a very grounded cabaret show at heart, and only superficially dipped in the Tarantino universe icing. If you're expecting it to be a movie celebration extravaganza, which I kinda did, you may be a little bit disappointed. If you're just there for a good time, to observe some talented ladies (and one token well-toned, constantly shirtless dude) perform, while you sit back and relax with a drink, this show delivers enough. The ticket price was... eh. VIP was too expensive, I wouldn't recommend anyone getting it. The GA, at $39 or so per person, including fees and all that, was a bit on the high side still, imho. I don't want to take anything away from the performers of the show, for I know all of them are disciplined artists that probably trained for their crafts with much time and dedication; nonetheless, I've just seen better, and some of them really failed to impress audience like me. Once you've seen the same tricks, but done arguably better, you'll probably feel the same. Not to be a total Debbie Downer, I do want to emphasize, there were definitely moments that I much appreciated: the MC was positively well cast. She was entertaining, one of the best parts of the show, and all she did was talk into the microphone... *with undeniable charisma*. The way she introduced each subsequent act, with brief explanation of which Tarantino film it related to, JUST FANTASTIC. I could hear her talk on and on. The one buff dude that was the token eye candy for the ladies and gay dudes, who doubled as prop master, who carried essential equipment on and off stage, was also a blessing. Of the acts that I got to see, (sadly I had to leave early due to work the next day, the show's being shown on a Thursday night and all), some were really good. Some were not so good. I do wanna list out some of the more memorable ones that I thought were worth your undivided attention. There was someone who danced with a python, along with some fire stunts. That screamed prime Britney, and therefore I ate that sh*t up. In fact, any time special flame effects were used, those were quite awesome. The ladies who exposed their perfect... uh... "female form", as the club called it, carried out a tasteful and sexy performance. Visually stunning, it was 1 of more memorable moments. There's a pure dance number, accompanied by "California Dreamin'", that was choreography heaven. It provided glimpses of what a professional dance number should look like. The fan blowing was a nice touch. As some put it, it was like watching "Dancing with the Stars". Finally, the Gogo Yubari number was also top-notched. Side note: if you're looking to see some serious boobage, then please be aware, and I quote from the MC, "this is a cabaret, and not a burlesque show". Frontal nudity is only occasionally featured. Of things that I didn't mention, some were still good. I just can't recall them off the top of my head right now. In contrast, remaining others were ok/mediocre, and a select few were sub-par. Had the pricing been lower, or had every single act been consistently solid, the act would've merited at least 4 stars from me. But right now, I would rate it 3.5 stars, but closer to the rounded 3 stars mark. I do, however, fully acknowledge that I might've missed some really great parts that were shown after my departure. The costume contest after the show, for instance, would've been wonderful to witness since some patrons were rocking some movie-grade wardrobes from the iconic films. (And just quickly circling back to the theme: if the costumes for the show, the decorations, and the routines were more heavily inspired & influenced by the Tarantino films, it would probably have pushed the ratings higher also. But hey, they did get the music/soundtracks right.) Overall, I see a show that has room for improvement, run by a group of individuals that could be showcased more properly with some better directions. But who cares what I think? Plenty of people in the audience were clearly enjoying themselves immensely. So go see for yourself instead. As a fun Thursday night on the town in the greater city of LA, it might just be enough.

Clearly they did not pay to sit there and I am still peeved about that. I would not pay for a loveseat again since anybody can just sit there if it's empty and nobody will call you out for it. I decided to treat myself and buy a loveseat ($80ish) so that I wouldn't be squished with other people and I just hope that this doesn't happen to anybody else. I kind of regret buying it because of that. The show was entertaining though and the drinks were good. The ambiance is nice.

I have seen the Mona Lisa and was impacted by her smile that seemed to move on its own. And ever since then I have loved Parisian culture because, after that trip, I understood that the city of lights producses so much to love and adore. It is the city that empowered Quasimoto to find his inner beauty. It is the city that had a rat control a human via its hair. It is the city that gifted the world with croissant and funny mustaches. It is the city that gave us french cheese, a queen who let others eat cake, and the guillotine because, I mean, what would a Tale of Two cities be without a guillotine. In short, I can can for gay Paree. Thus, it was only natural to attend a Bastille Day celebration to pay homage to the city of lights and butter. This celebration, I can describe as a capsule celebration. Meaning that the day did not have parades or avenue closures in its name. All the celebration was centered in this courtyard. If one has not attended the plaza, then imagine a micro Hollywood bowl. Meaning that if the Hollywood Bowl was a cupcake, this place would be a tic-tac, not a gum drop. But still, with the festivities of Bastille lighting the spot, it became a firework on display. This might seem obvious but I really enjoyed sitting on the courtyards steps and hearing french music from the stage. And I did not just like the music because it heard good, but also what it produce amongst some of the attendants-- a light-hearted frivolity that could only be expressed in melody and jaunty step. The singers explained that they were about to sing a classic french song. One that paid homage to its famous avenue: Champs-Élysées. As they were hearing words that I could barely recognized, a woman behind me started to sing as well. I turned back, we made eye contact and for a second she serenated me with the words Champs-Élysées. I felt her love for her land in her words. For a micro-second that lasted french minutes, I was back in the land of french cheese and pastries. The note she carried in her song were the tickets I needed to see Paris, even briefly again. I also saw the dancers. Not paid ones. Regular people dancing in front of the stage. I saw a man and a woman dance care free amongst many. He twirled her. She followed. It was melody in movement. Their joyful moves were mine as well. I experienced love for the French countryside through their dance. I guess national pride is contagious. The singers also played a song in English but with a French Accent. L is for the way you look tonight. It was a great afternoon. I also have no power to resist buying stuff at festivals. So I bought some french breads and a charcuterrie board. Me and my friend had it later as a snack, and it was the morsels that make Paris great. This review was tied to Bastille day. But I incldued a picture of all the different concerts. If you want a suggestion, grab a picnic lunch from very nearby Grand Central Market and experience your own music choice amonst DTLA buildings. This was my 2nd time at Delusion and I loved it! Last year I, I guess had a lot of complaints about…read moreit being short, it was BUT I had a blast and thought about it all year. I would say last year was more "scary" but this year was over better! Atmosphere, acting etc. Were all top tier and the event was so creative once again. I think the best Halloween events is when you get out and start talking about it immediately and the convos roll all the way until you get home and that's what Delusion did for me yet again. Sure it's expensive but the memories will last a while. Take a break from HHN and other Halloween events if you have to and go to this!

This years Delusion was a massive improvement in time alone. (Last years being maybe 25 minutes ,…read moreafter you drove 2+hours was not it, and not what they said it would be, I was so disappointed that was my partners first delusion ) Having it back inside an actual house was a plus as well. I enjoyed the sets, close quarters and the interaction was good. It was just not as spooky as some of the past years. Story was alright enough, ending is always something that needs work, but never happens (Ive been to many many delusions. At least 8...All are anticlimactic ) Sound needs a bit of work. Either too overbearing , or feels artificial to the situation If this was last years I would not have recommended, but this one was enjoyable with good performances and nice effects. Usually there is one big 'wow' effect but didn't feel it like I did in years past. Wanted to note the actress that plays in the pleasure scenario was very good. Also they should work on involving more people, not just picking the same person I always say would I go again? Because wow it just keeps going up price wise. Also their ordering system has glitches that need fixing. It was stressful Its wild to think I paid $45.00 back in 2012. Now it was around $150.00 each for a Saturday not including parking . Damn
