After one meeting, we knew we didn't need to meet with anyone else. Our excitement was validated with our engagement photos, which came out amazingly and felt completely natural to us. Sarah has a way of putting you at ease and helping you concentrate on your partner and the moment rather than her camera. In an era where taking pictures is so ubiquitous as to seem a throwaway, these pictures were something special. The wedding day itself was an amazing experience for us, and the photography was just fantastic. Sarah and Chris were amazing at capturing all the little moments throughout the wedding day, even ones we never knew about or saw, all while remaining so unobtrusive that one guest referred to them as "ninjas." To top it off, we got three great surprises from them: one at the wedding that we'll keep to ourselves, a sneak peek barely more than 12 hours after our time with them ended, and then when the pictures were all ready for us less than 3 weeks out from the wedding. We understand that your mileage may vary, and their contract says 4-6 weeks, but even that would be perfectly reasonable given the quantity and quality of what we received. Overall, Sarah and Chris were amazing partners in our wedding celebration, and we felt extra good that part of their fee was donated to charity. We can't recommend Smitten Chickens enough!

We received our DVD's from Tory this week and sat down last night to watch both of them. It was so amazing to re-live the day!! The set of 2 DVDs are in custom made wooden DVD cases which are gorgeous. Tory used a picture from our first dance on the cover the of the DVD's to add a more personal touch! :) Even the "menu" is so snazzy with moving video icons! Everything was perfect! Neither my husband nor I have seen a wedding DVD before but I had the faint idea that it would just be a straight up recording of the day. The feature film was beautifully edited incorporating songs from the day, voice overs from those dear to us, and gorgeous details shots mixed in with footage. We know that we're biased since it was our wedding day, but we'd like to think that we can now show this to ANYone and they would find it engaging and fun to watch! I love that Tory was able to take the whole day and create this wonderful 20 minute narrative. :) When we watched the ceremony over again it was especially significant to me, because I got to see things that I missed out on the first time: our parents being seated, the flower girl and ring bearer walking down the aisle, and the faces of our guests! I love how Tory took so many shots of the guests during the ceremony! All the angles and editing for the ceremony made something that had a VERY huge potential to be boring, into something that I can see myself watching over and over again. My husband's favorite part were the speeches. The sound came through so well and you can hear every part of each speech. The whole day was such a blur that being able to sit down again and hear the words of our friends and family is precious. Hubby and I were both so pleased with how everything turned out. Tory was a pleasure to work with! She was professional and easy-going, putting me and my entire wedding party at ease. We barely noticed her throughout the day because she filmed so smoothly! As much as we love the photos we received from the day, these videos capture so much more. Tory is incredibly talented and puts in extraordinary effort (I have a friend in film so I have a little bit of reference to how long editing takes). Her style is the perfect balance of modern and classic and she truly captured the essence of the whole day. She created something we'll treasure always. :)

Scheduling an appointment was easy. I had a conflict come up and was unable to attend the initial appointment that would determine if we would sign the contract or not. My mom went to the appointment and met with John and Jim. John is the owner and Jim is his associate. My mom fell in love so we went with them. She scheduled our shoot with Jim. First the engagement shoot. We had to reschedule our shoot last minute and Jim was VERY accommodating. So being a Bride and a perfectionist I was slightly nervous that I never met my photographer and he was about to shoot one of the biggest moments of my life. See the pictures attached and you will see for yourself that the pictures were breath taking. Jim created a professional, fun, and memorable experience. Christina at Gabelli helped put our save the dates together and we came up with an unforgettable magnet. The studio is gorgeous and Lisa is a creative genius. My husband and I drove by this place one day about 6 months before our wedding ready to book our photographer. Looking around the studio we saw these gorgeous, very original poses, great lighting and color effects. My husband and I immediately fell in love with the work. We meet Demetrius the main photographer. He asked us a lot of questions about our plans for the wedding, what we were looking for? what place we picked for reception? etc. We felt comfortable with them so we started asking for prices. Now Demetrius having an idea of what we were looking for he said he will discuss it with his wife Jessica over dinner and will call us first thing in the morning with the price. Well he called us, gave us what I thought was a good deal for the 6 hours of work and the package that he presented. When the time came where we were to have our first session with him for our engagement pictures, he showed up about 15 minutes late which was not a big deal except that he stressed the fact that we should be there sharp. Not big deal, what started to be an annoying red flag was when he jokingly kept naming us by the wrong names. Whether is a humorous ice breakers or he honestly did not remember our names, we couldn't tell. It was fun at first while taking pictures but when I called for a second, third time he will still call us by wrong names. I started to get the feeling he is the type of person that he forgets or do the wrong things and then tries to cover them up with humor and jokes. At this point so close to the wedding we decided to still use them and even inquired about also having a video. He said he would ask a videographer and see if he was available for our wedding day and record the important parts of the wedding. Great! We said that's all we need, we hired the videographer. The wedding day went smoothly, photographers and videographer were on time. About a month and a half I called up to find when our pictures would be ready. Demetrius picked up the phone and he sounded miserable he flip out on me about how busy they had been and how sandy storm had slowed things down for them, the tone of his voice almost said to me: How dare you call us now to ask us about your pictures? I was surprised by his attitude to say the least, he must have had a bad day I thought. So I said, no problem, I understand just please give us a call when pictures are ready. That was the end of it. I discussed this with my husband and left them alone for a while out of consideration.A few weeks later we were contacted by Jessica that the pictures were up on their site to look. Great! Excited for our pictures we pick them up. Our disappointment was that they were very basic pictures, nothing said this picture is different than the rest or more exciting than the rest, the lighting, poses, random pictures on the whole book were very basic and monotonous. Sad thing is not only did we immediately notice but our families did as well. It is obvious. Any of our guest would have taken the same pictures with their cameras. This was nothing like what they had shown to us when we first walked in to their studio. The video was the worst part of the service, it was badly recorded by an amateur. The focus of the video is horrible, lighting is bad, parts of the ceremony were in such closed up mode you can only see a persons face in it, not what is around them. Not only does the quality of the video sucks but some of the important things that happened at the wedding were not recorded or were badly recorded like cutting off parts and such. Initially, The video also had the wrong year of the wedding, when my husband called to find out if they could fix it, Demetrius the jokester said: "well I guess that means you will have to get married again this year haha. Bring it back. I will get back to you when its ready I have to get a colonoscopy tomorrow". Now that's the last thing we needed to hear. He fixed the date but gave us a damaged cd back with damage footage options. I was fuming at this point not only because of the damaged cd, but for his unprofessionalism and his jokester ways to cover his mess up. So I personally called him, told him what was wrong with the cd, and lets just say I did not sound happy at all. Only after that magic phone call he did put thought into it and fixed it. At this point in time my only conclusion is that he does a great job when the couple's budget calls for it and he decides the budget himself based on the initial answers of questions such as where is the reception going to be? where is the church? He decides the price based on those answers and then treat you and your wedding as such. So if you go with this guy, better have that wedding at the Venetian or somewhere in NY to be taken seriously and have those really cool unique pictures on your album.

On the day of our wedding they were pretty much with us from start to finish! They had a preview of our pics up 4 days after the wedding and my mind was blown! They captured so many beautiful moments. They even went above and beyond and created a slideshow for us using our first dance song. it was perfect! At our engagement shoot, he was nervously giggling through it all and you'd never know it! They're both so easy going that throughout the shoot it just got easier and easier. They were very flexible with scheduling and took into consideration what we wanted as a couple. Our day was a bit misty and it had rained the night before, so we didn't want to get all wet from the grass during our first look pictures, so Tony + Olya went and scoped out a new location that was not in the grass. In terms of picture turn around, I was eager, so I was probably a pain in the neck, but it's barely 5 months past our wedding and we will have the rest of our pictures! So exciting!
