Dr. Stecker was nice and thorough but the office does not follow up…read more I called about 2-3 times over a 3 week period and left a message for the medical assistant to ask if doctor has reviewed my MRI yet. No one ever called. If they think that I'm waiting a month and a half to have them wait for my next appointment to go over it. I'm going to someone else. The part that makes a doctor bad is almost always the way the office is run I would save your time and go somewhere else if you are in pain. They will make you wait I called today to cancel my up coming appointment and explain why I'm canceling it. The women on the phone cared less when I told her why I was canceling it. Update 4 hours after post: Doctor magicly calls me to go over my MRI results. He told me that the report says..... Isn't the doctor supposed to look at the MRI himself and not read the findings of another doctor? I have changed the review now to a one since the doctor just wasted my time. When I told him that I have called 3 times before and did not get a call back. he stated 'this is the first i heard of it.' Yea because the office did not tell you anything. He didn't even apologize for the way his office handled the situation. When I told him that I was referred to Stanford by my pain management doctor. He basically said ok, whatever, type attitude. Then goes to tell me that if after I go to stanford for the other opinion I can come back and see him. Why would anyone go to any other doctor after stanford?

But what no physician worth their salt does is abandon a patient's care without explanation. My appointment was canceled by voicemail. I couldn't reach her assistant by phone and no one from the clinic returned my calls, offered any explanation or alternative. I had to figure it out on my own. I've had 14 spine and hip surgeries in 24 years. My spine, neck and hips are basically rods, screws, plates and scar tissue, Pain med refills are time sensitive and running out puts a patient in even more excruciating pain. She put not just me but the doctorS (plural) who followed her in untenable positions. She became a friend as well as my doctor. I referred numerous patients to her. Found her a place to get physical therapy. Even a personal trainer. So that she wouldn't even respond to a text or a call from me was insult to injury. Who does that?! When she needed me, to write a letter in support of her as a treating physician, I did so without hesitancy. What I learned isno good deed go unpunished. And it's literally taken 7 years to undo the delicate medical issues she and the pain doctor who preceded her caused me. It's very challenging to get off narcotic medication. And I did. Suffice to say, I'm very lucky to be alive.

I have had a health issue since I was a child, and have been diagnosed with my medical condition, a diagnosis supported by several other doctors. He dismissed my medical issue and went about asking questions about my mental health for most of the appointment, something I don't have a problem with (again confirmed by other doctors). He tried very hard to ferret out some psychological issue for my health problems. When that failed he continued to dismiss my condition and decided I just needed to take yoga. He obviously didn't believe in my medical condition or try to understand it. For someone having to deal with a medical condition that affects my life, this is extremely painful and degrading. He did spend a decent amount of time with me, but most of that time was devoted to asking questions that weren't relevant. For the few questions that were relevant he usually cut me off when I was answering if what I was saying didn't fit into what he thought or believed. He, then, summarized everything on his tape recorder, which was a complete waste of time since he obviously disbelieved everything I said and hardly offered any advice. The advice he did give was completely inane and not something one would ever follow up on. If you are looking for a thoughtful, compassionate doctor who seeks to listen and understand and really help his patients, do not go to him!
