I would like to share my experience, and I would love to tell you about mine.  Last Monday, my…read moregrandma was admitted to the hospital with a bladder infection, which made her hallucinate for about a day and a half to two days maximum. The following day we were told that she was in the late stages of dementia, and she needed to be placed in a facility. The following day, we were told by Dr. Jennings that she needed to be placed into a home. She can no longer care for herself.  The following day after that, we were told that she was a fib and that we needed to place her on a drip.  We were doing better and on the upswing.  The next day was a beautiful day; she had the best day she's had in years.  Come Christmas day, I went up there to visit with my grandmother. I got there. We had no blood pressure cuff on the nursing staff was not paying very much attention unlike the day before. Keep this in mind, my grandmother was completely sound of mind, and communicating and advocating for herself.  What follows next is probably the grossest display of medical mal-practice I have ever seen.  The nursing staff missed the codes, they were not doing anything about my grandmother's lowering blood pressure. Her abdomen became distended, and I had to ask for them to call the doctor to start getting things to make her more comfortable. She is DNR. I understand that we cannot do things to save her life but that means we do what we can to make her more comfortable. What proceeded was a rapid trip to the ICU.  As they were getting her settled, the nurses came in and said we need you to come back there and say goodbye, she's dying by the end of Christmas evening. My grandmother had passed away at 5:15 under the care of Dr. Anderson who is the most disgusting Doctor I have ever come across in my entire life.  The ICU nursing staff was amazing. Absolutely amazing Charles, my grandmother's nurse, he is amazing.  Also, the rest of the people on the fifth floor are an absolute disgrace to the medical practice along with Dr. Jennings and Dr. Anderson.  Merry Christmas everyone.  Instead of placing my grandma in a care facility, I will be placing her in a casket.
