Then, allow the friendly staff to bring as many items from the menu as you can handle. Come with a group so you can share. An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from. Definitely a place to visit when in Mexico City. Sorry for the lack of photos-- we forgot because we dove into each dish (we were hungry and they looked so good)! Got one good one though...

The cocktails were ridiculously creative (including ingredients like soursop juice, eucalyptus, charred pineapple, worm salt, basil, cucumber etc--obviously not all in the same cocktail), and served in dramatic glasses with fun garnishes. In terms of food, we were four people and we shared four starters (yellow-fin ceviche, kampacho and blue fin sashimi (which they call laminadas), and a shrimp "envelope"--each one was remarkable, and served with flavorful sauces that complimented the dish. Our mains were also good, though not as spectacular--they offer Catch of the Day (mahi mahi today) prepared in three different styles. The plain one (pan seared with shallot butter) was nothing special, but the option served over spinach with a cream sauce was incredible. The grilled shrimp main was also excellent as was the chocolaty dessert. Overall a delightful meal with excellent service and cocktails!

Turns out everything we had was really fresh and delicious. Personal favorites were the Camarones al Ajillo, the Pulpo, the Yellowfin ceviche, the Mahi-mahi, and the suckling pig. Which was basically most of what we ordered... Taking off a star because there were a few options on the menu that weren't available, which was a little disappointing. And despite how delicious everything was, it was all fairly simple and traditional, without much wow factor to account for the higher prices. The service was fantastic as well, however, so this is a definite recommend!

An excellent and very friendly waiter! Loved this place! Before we ordered, a tray with a bounty and variety of pastries was offered to us. The roll I selected was so very good...I had another after the main course. For breakfast I ordered scrambled eggs with little pieces of ribeye beef on top., accompanied by little black refrigerator beans. It was all very good. There was attention to every detail here. Although the restaurant was filled, it was quiet and quaint and so enjoyable. We liked it so much, we plan to return during our trip! dinner!

On our last night he said we are going to a fabulous authentic Mexican restaurant. A 2 minute walk from the hotel brought us to Las Mercedes. The service is impeccable and the menu is diverse an authentic drawing from different regions of Mexico. Our waiter spent a considerable amount of time with us describing the dishes of interest to us. I finally said pork and spicy please. Our appetizers included beef and veggie tacos. My dining companion had the blackened red snapper and I had the shredded pork cooked in banana leaves homemade corn tortillas accompanied my dish. To be honest I could have ordered a dozen more menu offerings as each looked fabulous. If you are in the area this is a must for dinner or even brunch. 6 Yelp Stars!

Loved the open kitchen environment, so you could really see the work they put into the dishes. The interior of the restaurant is stunning -- a mix of industrial + rustic that somehow worked perfectly together. I noticed a bunch of reviews complaining about the service, but our servers were rather pleasant to us. We decided to try some: TOSTADA DE PANZA ATUN and TARTAR: The tuna belly tostada is an absolute must order. Best bang for your buck because they really loaded on the tuna belly. It was buttery and melted in your mouth. The tartar tostada was also very delicious and the sweetness of the avocado balanced out the flavors. CEVICHE DE CARRETA: The presentation was lovely and the server encouraged us to take a pic before we mixed the seafood into the sauce. The sauce was divine and every piece of seafood was fresh tasting. Could not get over how sweet the avocados were too! The blue corn tostada complementing this was one of the freshest tasting tostada we had this whole trip. Luckily they refilled our tostada basket constantly, because we were going through these like nothing. OSTION KUMAMOTO and CENIZA: Incredibly fresh! I believe most of their oysters are from Baja California or Baja California Sur. The oysters had a very subtle brine to it, but also very sweet and creamy. Actually loved the ponzu sauce more than a standard vinaigrette. CAMARONES FRITO: I'm usually pretty particular with my fried shrimps, but my god these were delicious! Somehow the shrimps were fried so well that the shell blended seamlessly with the meat. These were served with two types of sauces: a garlic aioli and ponzu. Both paired very nicely with the shrimp -- the ponzu being my favorite. This was the perfect amount for my party of 2. After experiencing the quality of food and atmosphere, I get why they're a Michelin guide recommendation. Campobaja turned out to be our favorite meal of this entire trip and had us running back to our friends to tell them about it. Would definitely return!
