I experienced horrible customer service - I truly felt like the employee was ANGRY I was asking questions. Found a nursery down the road that had super customer service! I found everything I needed with the assistance of a lovely young lady. I will NEVER go back to Mariposa! read more

Beautiful nursery. A large variety of quality plants at very reasonable prices. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. If you're a gardener in Sarasota county they are one of the best sources I have found for my garden needs. read more

Horrible customer service. I went in ready to make a big purchase until I realized how horrible they treat customers. I ended up making my purchase at another nursery that knew how to provide great customer service. I do not recommend this place. Take your money somewhere else read more

I enjoy shopping Mariposa to get creative ideas on Land Scaping, people are very helpful and that it selection is plentiful

Very good selection and they are very helpful. They took me around on golf cart to look at various options to place in my landscaping. They provided advice on the best ones to utilize. They delivered everything for my do it yourself project. They did plant two trees for me that were too big for me to handle. read more

Super helpful people and a great selection of plants and flowers. They went above and beyond to help.

Mariposa Nursery is about an hour drive from my house, but it is worth the drive. Great people. And the plant selection is incredible.

What a beautiful place! So many great plants to choose from. We had a bit of a hiccup when told they had black olive trees in stock over the phone, but actually were not available once we arrived. I can't give enough props to the super nice manager who made things right for us. Best prices I've seen on shady lady trees, and they are really healthy and vigorous. Superb sevice, friendly employees, and wonderful selections will keep me coming back! read more

Great selection of plants, shrubs, pots, gardening supplies and even a cool gift shop for indoor and outdoor decor. Our arborist and landscaper also bought our entire landscape here, as they actually had inventory. He finds the wholesale staff super friendly and helpful. All three stars are for inventory content and the woman in the gift shop. Sadly, and it is a recurring review theme, the staff at retail are unfriendly, and need to be asked for help even as they stand around chatting with each other. Not a s smile to be found. No masks. They seem like they hate their job. This is a problem from the top down. Hopefully they get the message and fix it. read more

I used to hate this place because of their lack of customer service until I met Ashley. She was a little ray of sunshine and I never saw her without a huge smile on her face. Literally the best and she helped me do my entire property. Imagine my disappointment on my last trip there in finding out they let her go. That kid (sorry, young lady) was the ONLY reason I continued to shop there. You guys not only lost an incredible, knowledgeable, and KIND employee, but now you've lost yet another customer. I will now be shopping wherever she ends up at because she is THAT GOOD! I will never recommend Mariposa to anyone. Yall need to know when to keep good people and fire the bad ones. Particularly the older lady outside. Entitled, rude and acts like she owns the place. Never again. read more

The kids and I have been on the hunt for indoor plants. Been to two different ones before yelping Mariposa. We drove in and I was in heaven... we headed straight to the gift shop. It was so whimsical inside, reminded me of my fav nursery Merrifield in Fairfax, Va. Can't believe I wasted my time at other replaces. Bought an urn and a few indoor plants. The urn was pricy but plants are very reasonable and very healthy looking. A heavy down pour kept us inside. Planning on coming back already for perennials. Our landscaping needs color so will be back for FLOWERS soon!!! Staff were pleasant. One guy walked us over to the other building with a huge umbrella. How sweet! So happy nursery is close to home, I have a feeling it's going to be my home away from home read more

Over priced and rude owner, not welcoming , and definitely Not customer friendly at all !!

Customer service is atrocious. They discriminate if you aren't yt. Which is ironic because their name is a Spanish word.

Every time I have been to this place, I have been disappointed in the customer service of the staff. The prices are also not worth the value of the products they sell. I would not recommend this nursery. read more

WORST Experience ever! The customer service was so bad! Very unprofessional and rude. Super pricey and definitely not worth the quality. Came in town to visit family and came here, bad decision! read more

Always a great selection of good quality plants here, tons of pots and planters in every size and color imaginable. Great selection of air, indoor and outdoor plants mostly reasonably priced. Ask for Star at the outdoor plant area for great advice. read more

Ashley was very helpful and informative regarding questions we had. She was a cutie pie too.

This is my favorite nursery. I enjoy working with Kathy as she really knows her plants. I redid our entire front yard and new pool landscaping using all Mariposa plants and trees. Allen is their recommended planter if you need your trees picked up and planted. I'm obsessed with my new landscaping and my plants are flourishing. Thank you Kathy for all your expertise! read more

Let me start by saying that Mariposa has the best and most selections in flowers. It's a hike for me but always worth it. I bought VERBENA ground cover in pink and I bought six, planted them and they are doing great. Needed six more, went out and they had none. I called the next weekend and they said they had them. When I arrived they did not have the pink but they did have the purple that did not look that great. I was told once they were planted they would do fine. I bought them and came home and planted them the next day. They have never done great or fine, they are struggling. I called to see what the policy was for returns, boy was I surpised! They have to be in the orginal container and orginal state that you bought them. What?? Who buys a plant to keep in the orginal conatainer? I think this is poor customer service. I said that to the girl that I was talking to but she did not care. I have bought plants that were healthy and did not last and I ate them because it was on me. These plants were not looking great and I bought them because I needed them and was told that they would be okay once planted. Well lesson learned, if they look like they are struggling to begin with then I should not waste my money. That is how I feel. Not happy with the outcome or the service that I received when I called in. read more

I was there today, had to ask for help. One sales person was actually sweeping debris onto my feet while I asked for help. Finally, when I was ready to check out, again I had to ask for help for someone to write me up. No response, no eye contact, I tried to help her count, she basically told me she didn't need my help. The cashiers- cold, no smiles, no thank you. I left there trying to figure out why they were so rude and unfriendly. I'll think twice before I go back- if ever! read more

This is like going to the garden of Eden and asking for any plant you can think of. Ok, that's a bit of hyperbole but truth be told the choices here at Mariposa Nursery ARE quite extensive, and you just might try and create your own little piece of paradise after visiting this awesome arboretum. There's endless isles of shrubberies, house plants, trees, hedges, flowers, decorative pots if any size, gravel, soil, pitting mix - the list goes on. They do deliveries and are extremely helpful with your purchase, with a broad understanding of the various species of trees and how to care for them. read more

So glad we found this place! The Mrs and I had been at one of the Big Box Stores and walked around their garden center only to be disappointed at the limited selections and dying plants on clearance. So I yelped up a nursery and garden center and found Mariposa. We jumped into the truck and off we went on a cold rainy day figuring no one would be out walking around on a day like today. Boy were we wrong. We pulled in and were instantly amazed at how many covered areas there were there. We parked and walked around and quickly realized that we were only a 1/3 of the way to the parking lot and outdoor show room area. This was just the growing areas and they were pretty full and went on for the length of a football field in both directions. Once we made it to the show room area we were amazed at all of the different plants, shrubs, flowering trees, vases and so much more I can't remember. We were overwhelmed. We worked with an nice woman who spent a lot of time talking the the Mrs which is a difficult task when she has only 3 options to choose from but now the possibilities were endless. Needless to say this place wasn't just packed with nature's beauty but also staff and people. Why more than I thought I'm we would see on a cold rainy day in Florida. This place is out new go to place for landscaping. Be sure to get here. read more

It's true, 80% of the staff have attitude problems. They stay in business because of their selection of plants and pottery aka inventory but beware of their 2 week return policy. read more

Ok I was back today (Wednesday) after going on Saturday with my neighbor. We filled up my SUV Saturday but I still had room after planting what I had purchased. This is without a doubt, the most beautiful and well stocked nursery in our area. They are constantly bringing in new and exciting plants every time we go visit! We have gotten some very rare variety of cactus to start our cactus garden, as well as succulents I've never even seen before! Their succulent green house is the biggest I've seen! They even have a green house/garden center for hanging plant varieties like pothos, air plants, bromeliads, as well as monstera, etc. You will NOT be disappointed going here! The entire staff here is always happy to help, ready with a rolling cart for you in the front parking lot area. GO EXPLORE! GO SMELL THE ROSES! read more

Yikes! We were in the market for some trees and landscaping pieces to fill in and were ready to buy today. We were so excited and all smiles. The person who assisted us outside was shockingly rude, terribly condescending, and had the absolute worst attitude in general. Plus, she rolled her eyes any time we asked a question. Although there was a great selection and there were many things we would have purchased, we decided not to give this place our business based on the horrible attitude that is clearly abundant here. This was our first time and last time here. The only reason I gave 1 star is for their abundant healthy plant selection & beautiful pottery. read more

Wow! Clean, organized by color & size, space between pots & plants. Every soil and additive, gravel, mulch imaginable. Gadgets I've not seen elsewhere (the Upsy-Daisy is genius, along with various plant stands) - but note their unique inventory comes with a price across all their products. While located a tad out of the way, Mariposa Nursery is certainly worth the trip! read more

pricy pricy pricy ... shop around and you'll see this place has ok quality but costs well beyond the area ...

We were so pleased with Ashley helping us to pick out plants and a helpful layout for our newly established 24X4 foot flower garden. She is absolutely the kindest and most knowledgeable person and made our experience delightful! And the cost of our large selection was less expensive than we even imagined. It is worth the trip out to this large nursery with such an assortment of plants, trees and accessories to choose from. Ask for Ashley for helpful service but if she isn't there the entire staff knows what they are talking about and so very helpful read more

My husband and I came to Mariposa to purchase plants for our lanai. We had many planters to fill, so it was a rather overwhelming undertaking. Kathy, (from Grand Rapids, Michigan), was absolutely wonderful in making sure we found what we wanted and in ensuring that we had all the materials we needed to get the job done. She performed magic in managing to get all our purchases in our car; a feat I'd not have believed possible. Mariposa is an excellent nursery and they are very lucky to have Kathy on their team. Beautiful nursery will ample parking. Kept checkout area safe and open (windows and doors). Great selection, well organized and very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Every kind of planter you could ever want, but pricey. They grow many of the plants and trees from seedlings. Many families there as well. I nice environment to explore. read more

Two stars because the plants and trees are plentiful and seem really nice. However the staff is so cold and unhelpful. Everybody except the young man who helped load things into my car had a sour look on their face and acted like they were just put out. I asked the young man why and he said "because everybody's in a bad mood today, nobody wants to work." Don't know if that's because today is a Sunday or people are unhappy with the election results... But I won't go back. read more

Great!!!!! Love the selection of plants, planters and the individual assistance offered!!

Rude to customers got there just before they opened 15min and was walking around loading up a wagon of plants and flowers i was in no rush looked around while waiting for the employees to get ready was told to leave and come back later wasn't aloud to pick items and look around. I support local. But not them anymore. I will shop else where. I hope a developer comes in and takes your place to the ground to build homes. read more

Worth the drive. Wide variety of plants displayed very well. The staff was both knowledgable and willing to spend time with you.

Spent over $1000 in one month there. The landscaper missed picking up a $5.00 plant around Thanksgiving. Told the landscaper we would take care of it, because there were other plants we wanted to buy. Nursery closed over Thanksgiving, no problem. Went back this week and explained. Manager said "too bad", more than a month gone by (didn't want to hear why). For $5.00 made us feel like cheats. Took the additional plants and pots that we were planning on purchasing and left them there. read more
