In response to Steve A. - The generator system was bled/purged upon service, but your filter on the boat kept running out of fuel, every time the generator would die, as we saw on the dock when you came to pick up the boat, we pulled the filter off the boat and it was half empty of fuel. We then filled the fuel filter on the boat back up with fuel, the generator would run again for another 10-15 minutes in the water, again in your presence at the marina, and then die again. I explained then that I believed it was a Boat supply problem and had not one thing to do with the service I did. I expressed to you then and on an e-mail dated 02/21/2021 that it appeared to be a fuel related problem. Prior to 02/11/2021, you stated and hired me to relocate the fuel filter and the fuel lines, replace the housing and relocate it to a better accessible location, which I did on 02/11/2021 and which point, you never paid that bill for that labor, mobile fee to your home or parts. We did not run the generator after that 02/11/2021 work performed at your home, because you were not present and per liability, did not want to lower your boat into the water from your lift, (the boat was on a lift out of the water - we never ran it out of the water. Running of a generator had/has to be done in the water). 02/19/2021, you contacted us stating you were trying to crank the generator and it wouldn't stay running, the generator kept shutting off again and again after several attempts. We were out of town and to try and help between our e-mails back 'n forth, we e-mailed you stating to try and fill the fuel filter on the boat with fuel. You stated you did that and attempted to run/start the generator after filling filter with fuel yet again and the generator did stay running, but the generator kept running out of fuel again and again. I stated again, it has to be a fuel pick up issue. There is no way that the fuel system was related to water getting in to your generator. It sounds like upon you continuously cranking it, without the generator engine firing off, it was flooded due to the sea water pump pushing water into the exhaust back into the cylinders. When you crank the generator the sea water pump is continuously pumping and filling up the muffler. If it doesn't start right away you get water in the cylinders. Typically when I am working on an generator that doesn't start right away, I shut off the seacock until I get it to start. I know when you service this generator you have to make sure it starts quickly each time before you turn it over. I think by you continuously cranking the generator hoping it would start, you got water in the cylinders. NOTE: As it stands, the current generator is too large for the area that it is in. This is not the manufacturer generator that should have been installed. You stated this was the second generator installed due to the previous owner having the same to similar issues. We did service the generator and move the fuel line, but in no way does a generator running out of gas cause water to go back into the generator, unless there is a boat, plumbing or over-cranking the generator issue. If this was the case, every generator that ran out of gas, would have water in it on all instances. We removed the generator to service it, not repair it. You asked us to do a service, you didn't mention repair, running or boat issue or any issues until after as mentioned. We explained we had to remove the generator in order to do the service you agreed to do that. Services do not cause boat or supply problems and do not repair existing issues.
