After purchasing the outboard I was excited to travel to the Pensacola area to visit my grandchildren and take them fishing. I got on the water with my boat and cranked the pull start then the motor locked up. I called Key Marine on a Saturday and got there nearly at closing time. They stayed and took the outboard and processed the work order. I explained that I was here on vacation and they said that they would do their best to work me in. On Monday they called me and told me the motor had been laid down on the wrong side which caused oil to enter the cylinders and the motor. I believe the retailer laid the motor on this wrong side but now thats just water under the bridge, or in this case, water under the fishing pier. They got the oil out of the motor and they only charged me an hour of their time. So honest and trustworthy. This business is customer service focused, honest and caring. Their efficiency saved my fishing vacation with my grandkids. I can't say enough about how great these guys are! Stellar service! Above and beyond!

I got scammed by some conman when I first PCS'd here. The boat I bought was in serious need of repairs, it was unsafe. They took my boat and turned it into a beautiful working vessel. I couldn't be happier! Their service manager, Bill, communicated with me throughout the entire process and I'm so appreciative of his honesty. If you are looking for a boat repair shop that has a moral compass, this one is it. Upon picking up my boat they even walked me through everything, showed me what came off my boat, showed me what they put on, and gave me a quick class on how my boat likes to get started. I'm thankful! They rock.

I took my boat there to have them run a diagnostic on it for an alarm. They called me and told me it was an oxygen sensor and they could replace it. I told them to go ahead and replace it. I wondered how they would decide which one was bad because the boat has two o2 sensors. A couple days later they called me back and said, "your boat has two oxygen sensors so we need to replace them. both". They told me they would not charge for additional labor only for the additional part. A week or so later they texted me and said they could not get to the rear sensor without taking the front motor mount off and taking the front of the engine completely apart to "try" and lower the front of the engine enough to get to the rear sensor, Or they could put a small hole in the rear of my boat to get to the sensor and repair it with a plate. Trusting they had adequate personnel who knew what they were doing I said ok. They called me approximately 3 weeks later and said my boat was ready. I asked them if they tested the boat and they said they ran the boat and everything tested out good. I picked the boat up and parked it for two weeks. I took it and put it in the water and it would not get up on plane, would not accelerate over 3000 rpm and then the alarm came back on. I did not have this issue before taking it to them. I texted the service person I had been working with, Adam, and explained the issues and ended the text with "Any Suggestion". Of course I heard nothing back from Adam. Ironically they have a large sign over the service counter with bold letters that says "Communication" is key. I guess Adam can't read because he sure didn't communicate after I just paid the nearly $400 for nothing. So now my boat is in worse shape, and Sunrise don't want to talk about it. So I called a few more Mercury dealers and found a fantastic mechanic in Alabama. I took the boat to him and explained the issues. He immediately noticed the "patch job" on my boat and said, "what the hell were they thinking." He immediately opened the engine hatch, pointed to the exhaust elbow and said all they had to do was remove four bolts and drop the elbow and the oxygen sensor is mounted to the elbow. They cut a hole in your boat for no reason.". His response did not surprise me because I wondered the same thing when they called me , but I trusted what they said as professional mechanics. The next day the mechanic called and said they (Sunrise Marine) never reset the code in the computer, so there was no way they ran the boat or tested the boat as they claimed. He stated he reset the code, ran the boat on the hose, then took it to the lake. He advised the boat ran fine. So I set up a maintenance repair replace to make sure the boat was top notch. I had him change several components like the water pumps, thermostat, etc. While he had it apart, he pulled both oxygen sensors, and showed me Sunrise only replaced one of them, although they charged me for both and told me they replaced both. Now I see this as fraud! I have taken pictures of them (one is clearly not a new sensor) and I'm going to give the manager an opportunity to make it right. We'll see how well his "Communication" is. If I don't hear from someone soon, I'll be posting the pictures of their work, and talking with the better business bureau. I should have listened to the salesman, Joe, who told me not to let them work on my boat for service because I could save a lot of money. ".
