The Marine Corps Historic Half is one of the best organized and moving races I've run. From packet pickup to the start line to volunteers on the route, everything went off without a hitch and was super well thought out. The pickup was lightning fast even the day before at the expo. The corrals at the start weren't super well organized or assigned based on time, but you were directed to positions based on estimates of pace. This meant some, but not a tremendous amount of runners in the wrong pace area causing congestion. The support along the entire route was tremendous, closer to the huge crowds at the NYC marathon than other smaller town halfs I've run. The support from the Marines is also amazing, and the pictures of fallen soldiers about halfway through and tons of volunteers with flags was very moving. Hospital hill at mile 10 is a killer, but the support around it is so good you can find a way to push through it. The route is nice and scenic through the historic downtown of Fredericksburg, residential areas, and along the scenic river for a bit. Starting and ending in a strip mall parking lot may sound bad, but it actually made arrival and departure very easy. Fredericksburg is also great for finding good food and drink around before and after the race.

Marine Corps Marathon 10K - Awesome 1st live race!

The energy in his voice helped esp since cold mornings can be rough. There was a mini ceremony (complete with canon firing & flags?) before the start, but with all the people, very hard to actually see. All the Marines handing out water & giving high fives along the route was uplifting. There was even a marching band playing around mile 2, and the Fireball shot between miles 2 & 3 answered my secret prayers. Apparently, each person's name is announced crossing the finishing line (yea, didn't know this & totally missed it LOL). The participation shirt and medal was top notch, and it was cool to be crossing a state line into VA. More snacks, liquids (the non-alcoholic beer was good), freebies, even a one-size-fits-all "jacket" and entertainment at the end was great. Those Marines are talented (made a u-turn just to hear Dua Lipa's Don't Start Now).

The MCM10K is run in conjunction with the Marine Marathon. So, if you're not crazy enough to run a…read moremarathon distance but still want to get in on the excitement of Marine Corps Marathon weekend, the 10K is a great race. It's a fairly new race, having been added initially as a 5K around 2006, then upgraded to an 8K and now to a 10K. The course mostly follows the last 6.2 miles of the marathon. Despite the shorter distance, the field was around 10,000 runners, none of whom were treated like second-class citizens compared to the marathoners. The scenery isn't quite as interesting as the Army 10-Miler since you have to do a jaunt through non-descript Crystal City. But, you still start on the Mall, pass the Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery and end at the same spot as the marathon near the Iwo Jima Memorial. Check-in was very well run and the expo was well-attended. Great runner schwag, although the mock-neck shirt was a heavy-weight cotton shirt and not a technical shirt. The race itself was run flawlessly and it's an honor to receive a finisher's medal from a Marine officer after the finish. A great race.

Decided to use some of that adult money to be a kid for a while. I had fun, it's a fun place,…read moreclean, orderly, nice people, BUT the big drawback is the PRICES. They are ridiculous ridiculously excessive. Video games should not cost $1.25 a pop, it should be a quarter or $.50. Go karts should not be $10. Mini golf should not be $10. That's just ridiculous. Also what sucked about a lot of of the games is that, let's say it's a racing game, and you came in first place, your game is over. You don't even get to play anymore. You have to PAY more. Takes all of the fun out of it when you're constantly having to pay. I DID have fun, and I enjoyed myself quite a bit, but the price is really excessive. Probably won't ever go back unless it's with a group of friends and we just feel like blowing a lot of money. I feel terrible for parents because a couple of kids could easily burn through $50 in a couple of hours here.

Young woman in front was more interested in getting phone number of other co worker and talking about plans after work--time and place for that not in front of me thanks...took about 3 minutes until we were finally helped by a young man. Mini golf course was fun and clean, for the most part. Can't help nature debris. Ok. Fun arcade games for the grandchildren. Bathrooms clean. However young woman at prize counter was not thrilled to be there it seems--I know it was closer to close but come on, my grandchildren just wanted to exchange their tickets for a piece of candy. Whatever, we didn't let it ruin our night. Overall would probably go during the day maybe employees would be more fun and engaging...don't like this night crew! It's fun land DAY and NIGHT
