Specialties
I'm a Marin County mom and photographer who comes to you (no studio, no props, no stiff poses). My sessions are relaxed and unhurried: I follow your family's lead, photograph the real moments in between the posed ones, and try to make the whole experience feel easy.
I specialize in in-home newborn, family, and maternity sessions throughout Marin County: Mill Valley, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Tiburon, Fairfax, and everywhere in between. Sessions run 45–90 minutes and include 30+ fully edited digital images, all delivered within two weeks. No surprise add-ons.
What makes the work different is the approach: I believe the best photos happen when everyone relaxes and forgets there's a camera. I work quietly, adapt to babies' schedules and toddlers' moods, and focus on capturing the genuine tenderness and true beauty in your actual family life.
I've been photographing Bay Area families since 2018, and my work has been featured in Mother Muse and Mama Disrupt.
History
Established in 2019.
Marin Mini Sessions was founded as Pitaya Photography in 2018, when I was a new mom living in Marin County.
I built the business around a simpler model: authentic sessions with a lifestyle approach, photographed in your home or at beautiful locations across Marin. Over the years I photographed hundreds of Bay Area families, newborns, and expectant mothers — and built a community of clients who keep coming back as their families grow.
In 2025 I rebranded from Pitaya Photography to Marin Mini Sessions to better reflect where the business had settled: rooted in Marin County, focused on the mini session format, and dedicated to the families who live here. Same photographer, same approach, same commitment — just a name that fits better.
Meet the Business Owner: Cass J.
Hi, I'm Cass — photographer, Marin County resident, and mom of three. I picked up a camera in 2007 and never put it down. I photographed weddings while studying Computer Science in college, then built a local Bay Area business in 2018 around the photography I loved most: quiet, real, in-home.
I live in San Anselmo, so I know these towns, these parks, and this light — what Old Mill Park looks like at 5pm in October, which corner of Muir Beach gets the best light.
My approach is unhurried and low-key. I'm not directing a performance — I'm watching for the moments that happen naturally when everyone stops trying. The tender ones, the silly ones, the ones where your kid does something unexpected and everyone laughs.
When I'm not shooting, I'm enjoying a quiet afternoon at home, camping in Northern California, or being my kids' number one fan.
