Compression massage with Joel has been a game changer for me! I injured my hip and was in a lot of…read morepain. After one session with Joel, my pain was significantly reduced. And the effects weren't just for a day which is my usual experience with massages, they have lasted all week. Stimulating blood flow to the injured tissues seems to have really accelerated my healing. In addition, Joel addressed neck and back issues that have been bothering me for years. I have had countless sports massages to address those issues with limited long term success. My neck and back improvements have also lasted all week. I am, frankly, thrilled with the results on my hip, neck and back! I watched the video on his website and that made me feel comfortable with his process. I had never had a barefoot massage before and it is a unique, but powerful, way to go very deep into the tissues. I recommend watching the video on his website as well to get a better idea of the process and the benefits.

Having been insured twice in motor vehicle accidents, I have dealt with a lot of pain and as I age it has gotten worse. I have seen many different types of practitioners over the years with only moderate and temporary relief. Joel is the first person who I can say has made a real difference in my day-to-day life and my level of pain. His work is deep and powerful. I have referred two of my friends to Joel and they have had the same experience that I have had. I would give him 10 stars if that were possible. if you are experiencing pain and limitations, for whatever reason, I encourage you to see Joel and find out for yourself. www.JoelHillmanTherapy.com

Jocelyn and the Healus team have saved my health. After having a baby my body was in so much pain…read moreespecially on one side of my body. I also had developed some jaw issues (TMD). I had been to 10 different practitioners (MDs, Chiro, massage therapist, PT, CST, ND, Lymph drainage etc) before finding Jocelyn. I was starting to give up hope that I would ever walk without pain or function normally ever again. After the first session I was in tears of happiness because my knee pain disappeared. Completely. And didn't come back!!! Still hasn't. My body is more aligned, my pain has greatly improved, and I have my life back. I also have been having TMD issues since pregnancy and Jocelyn's magic in ONE session of working on that has improved my sleep OVERNIGHT and completely gotten rid of headaches and tightness in my jaw. I owe Jocelyn my health and my life and I cannot put into words how thankful I am to the universe for bringing me to her!!! Try it. It's not a regular "massage" but it's WAY MORE EFFECTIVE than one for real body work and therapeutic benefit. I work in the therapy filed, so I know. This is the real deal.

I highly recommend Yves Lavenne as an Orthopedic Massage Therapist. I ruptured my Achilles tendon…read moreabout 4 months ago and was looking for someone to help me work through the scar tissue that had built up around my Achilles and calf. My dental hygienist recommended Yves who had helped her with a shoulder injury. I truly couldn't be more impressed. He is incredibly knowledgeable and explains what he is doing and why. He does fascial tissue release and works on the adhesions around scar tissue build up as well as deep therapeutic massage. Within a day of seeing him I was limping much less, experiencing much less pain, and had about half of the scar tissue around my ankle. After 2 more sessions I am feeling better and stronger and my ankle has so much less swelling, fluid and scar tissue and I feel as though my muscles are working much more fluidly and productively. He is very in-tune with the body and how it functions and has a wonderful sense of what the body needs to heal and feel better. He is located at 158 E. Blithedale Ave. Mill Valley and his number is 415-381-3457. Cheers, Tara

James is awesome!…read more He helped me with 2 major health problems. The first was when I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel. After just a couple months of NMT, my problem went away and never came back - no surgery. The second time, I had a pulled muscle that was so painful - I had to go to the emergency room. The doctor did a MRI and just gave me some pain killers. After a couple days, pain had not gone away and got worse, so I called James. After just one session, the pain was gone! I should have called James first and saved thousands of dollars in medical bills. I now have regular sessions with James to help with stress, and various aches and pains. His sessions are way better than your average massage - they are like mini-vacations.

I would say that thanks to James, I am walking / exercising much better today!

Why haven't I reviewed Ruben at RJR Self-Care sooner when I've been fortunate enough to be a client…read morefor quite a few years? Well, Ruben is one of those people that is so wonderful, you just don't want to share with anyone else... except maybe a bestie, and that I have done, but it's time to get more generous. Too many of us are suffering and we need to take better care of ourselves. Misery doesn't love company in my world. This is your message to get on top of your self care and this is The Best place to make it happen. Ruben is magic. There's no other way to explain him without it sounding weird. I could describe his very large, strong hands and how they are softer than a baby's bottom, but then it starts to sound a tad off. This masseuse man has helped get my aches and pains diagnosed when my doctor was at a loss. Ruben knows bodies as well as the spirit. I have never left without feeling more whole and fulfilled. I have fallen asleep on the table and I don't sleep well anywhere. The Swedish 90 minute is my favorite deal. Tell the magic man what you want and he can adjust. Music on or off, switch up the genre, hair up, hair down, socks on, socks off, starting sunny side up or flipped over; just communicate it. Ruben is one of the best kept secrets in the county. If you're someone who likes a spa-like high-end experience, I promise his space is a hidden gem without an ounce of pretentiousness. Crystals, living plants, never too warm or too cool... the studio is clean, with great energy, and positively perfect with the best water in town and Ruben will fill your bottle before you leave because he is just that kind of human. I'll pass you on the street at some point (enter off Tunstead and know that the door faces the creek and Sir Francis Drake Blvd). I'm sure and don't forget to check out the awesome shops next door on both sides or before or after your Self-Care session. This little strip on the deck is not to be missed! Now, think twice before you tell your bestie.
