BEWARE! I would never shop in this store again! I purchased an expensive Italian leather purse at Marilyn's about 18 months ago. The purse was only slightly used, when two of the three screws fell out of the clasp, rendering the purse unusable. When I went into Marilyn's to see if they could repair the purse or replace the special screws, I was told they no longer deal with the vendor in Italy, therefore could not get the screws. Marilyn suggested that she would give me $150.00 toward the purchase of another purse which cost $300.00 so I could use the screws in both purses as needed - how ludicrous! Marilyn's staff treats customers nicely when spending money, but treats customers horribly when service is needed. Honestly based on the horrible reviews, (which I wish I had read before shopping at Marilyn's) I am surprised that this store is still in business! read more

This is a jewel on Fifth Avenue. Marilyn has her own line of women's clothing complimented with designer hats and a stunning line of shoes. She has a section of white shirts and blouses that is dear to my heart. What you find here you will wear with confidence now and for years to come. Her attention to detail in her price point is spot on. Someone in a review mentioned that she couldn't refer them to a different line of clothing. I suggest as a shopper, that is your job. My good friend and I walked into this store today and asked about dresses for the mother of the Groom. The owner came up to us and asked what we were looking for; as she looked us up and down. She then began to ask my friend how much money she was willing to spend. My friend told her what her budget was, and the owner told us that her clients book with her at least a year in advance and we waited too long and in not so many words, that our budget might be better spent elsewhere. It was defitnitely a "Pretty Woman" moment. I would of rated this store a zero if it was an option. The owner was very rude and condensending. She didn't even try to suggest even one dress or politely reccommend another store that was catered to our needs. She really needs to learn how to treat her customer's with respect. I will never support her store and never reccommend anyone to this store. Class and grace go a long way. read more

The owner is the nastiest merchant ever encountered my wife spent 13000 in one visit and was hospitalized for dementia. When I asked for owner to look and see what we could do. She refused to look at items and to call police if I didn't leave. Other stores as Gucci, Ralph Lauren, j McLaughlin, St. John Alison Craig and anthropology were gracious and considerate. To all visitors to Naples, Florida...DO NOT SHOP AT MARILYN's. I was visiting from NYC and had the most upsetting experience. I bought a few items totaling over $2,000. I left Naples for three weeks and wanted to return or exchange an item. The owner was officious and horrible saying she has a firm two- week return policy. The clothes are very expensive, and frankly, the store looks junky with everything crammed in. At those prices, one can go to Nordstrom's, Neimans, or Saks, shop in a relaxed atmosphere and be treated with respect and courtesy. Also all the department stores graciously except refunds and exchanges. read more

This is my favorite place to shop when I visit Naples. Marilyn is a wizard at combining her many unique items into a wonderful look. She works with you and offers many suggestions to enhance your look. I find her to be very personable. She has case after case of wonderful, eclectic earrings and necklaces, beautiful purses, hats, shoes, belts, shirts, jackets, etc. This is a high-end boutique and Marilyn is often the only person there. She will acknowledge you, but don't expect her to stop helping someone to assist you, unless the person she's currently helping signals it's ok to do so. As to the other review appearing here, if your hands were sticky, I applaud you for not touching the merchandise. Yet, I might suggest that it is never appropriate to use the private restroom of a small business, no matter how accessible, without asking permission. I always visit this store when I am in Naples, so Marilyn knows me, but I always ask permission to use the restroom. read more

I would never return to this store and would not recommend that others patronize this business. My husband and I had spent a very hot morning shopping other stores on 5th Avenue. We were dressed casually in shorts and tees but were very presentable. However, apparently we were not dressed appropriately to step into Marilyn's. From the moment we entered the door, we were treated with disdain and judgment. Marilyn did not ask if she could assist us and barely acknowledged our presence. There wasn't anyone else in the store so she was not busy. She actually stepped from behind the counter and stood in front of me at one point, blocking my access to the rest of the store. I needed to walk around her as she continued to glare at my husband. We are well able to afford to shop there and had she treated us with even minimal courtesy and respect, I would have made a purchase. However, I just refused to spend any money at a store where the owner is so extremely judgemental and rude. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! My sister, her husband and I recently went into Marilyns looking for gowns. Let's be clear. If I could give zero stars I would. I am a wealthy person, not that it should matter, and I was prepared to spend a lot of money for a formal gown. It was a "Pretty Woman" moment as we were clearly judged by how we looked at that moment. When we walked in a very pleasant sales clerk approached us and asked what we were looking for. I responded that I needed a formal gown. Before she had a chance to show me the gowns, the owner came forward and told us that we should go shop in a store close to my home. I was so taken back by her comment, it prompted my brother in law to say " They clearly don't want your money". And let's be clear, he is a very wealthy man as well. I will NEVER shop in this store again. They lost a very big sale and hopefully they will lose more after people read this review. read more

This review is on the way the owner of the store treated myself and my friend. To preface, we had just finished eating ice cream and I personally didn't want to touch anything in the store because everything was very nice. Which is why we stopped into the store in the first place, the dresses at the window were impressive. So as we walked through the store, the owner greeted us and was talking to another customer. We walked through to the back of the store and noticed the bathroom with the door WIDE open, saw the toilet and sink inside. So we went in to wash our hands and left the door WIDE open to do so. The owner appears at the doorway and yells at us that we should have asked her to use the washroom first. I was shocked! I have never in my life have been treated like that from the finest stores on Sloane Street in London to the awesome hidden vintage shops, no one has ever yelled at me the way she yelled at us. I get it ... the washroom may not have necessarily been public ... then she should have closed the door instead of leaving it WIDE open. We weren't using her precious toilet ... we were just washing our hands ... you would almost think one would appreciate that ... clean hands ... keeps the merchandise clean. So she left a seriously bad taste in my mouth.... why on Earth would I ever support her and her store and purchase something. Maybe she was judging me on my inexpensive maternity clothing and flip flops ... but if only I could tell her that I had plenty of room to pack her beautiful clothes in my private plane back to Chicago ... maybe she would have treated me differently..?? read more
