We quickly looked for legal counsel to help resolve the issue but could not find a lawyer that was willing to deal with the challenge of communicating with us while stationed outside the US. In addition, my husband and I began to feel like we were dealing with law firms that were treating us as though we were just another number in the legal system. Furthermore, we found that other firms were unwilling to discuss their course of action to correct our legal issue. Just as we began to lose hope, family friends living in the New Braunfels area recommended that we inquire about legal representation with Mrs. Brown and her team. The firm immediately presented a solution to our issue and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Our case was quickly resolved in much less time than other legal firms projected. Moreover, Marilee went out of her way to help our family remove any history of the issue on the internet. The members of this firm are nothing less than outstanding. I recommend Marilee's representation to anyone looking for straight forward solutions to legal issues from people who care.

The insurance company for the driver, Elephant insurance, refused to pay some of the medical bills to include plastic surgery for the scars on my face, and repeatedly ignored my calls and emails over a two year period in an attempt to run through to the statute of limitations. I couldn't find an attorney that would take my case. All with excuses, but with only one week to the deadline, I searched again and had the great fortune of finding and retaining Ms Hazel. All I can say is, wow. She jumped right in and investigated every possible avenue to get this situation resolved, to include my own insurance company that withheld funds. This is a gal that knows what she is doing and not afraid to go after those responsible. I'm in awe, and will absolutely recommend her to my family and friends. I hope I'm never in a situation like this again, but if I am, she will be my first phone call.

Casteel & Associates is neither efficient nor client-focused, and they show little interest in…read moreresolving cases in a timely manner. They take what could be a relatively peaceful and straightforward process and turn it into an expensive, drawn-out conflict over items that often end up where they started. Excessive paperwork and poor communication with opposing counsel on straightforward matters frequently lead to increased billable hours and a more contentious case. Instead of reaching out for negotiations by telephone or correspondence, Casteel tends to file for court dates, using combative language that states "opposing counsel has been unwilling..." without ever attempting to negotiate. Like most attorneys, going to court incurs a minimum of $2,000 from your retainer. However, with Casteel, you may find yourself making multiple trips without ever actually seeing a judge. Instead, you will likely wait in a conference room for hours while the attorneys negotiate back and forth, eventually reaching an agreement that could have been proposed and accepted weeks earlier through a couple of conversations--making the court trip entirely unnecessary. Barron is an average attorney at best and often displays laziness. Discussions with other attorneys in town will likely validate this assessment. Carter, on the other hand, is a competent attorney but has a tendency to engage in disputes over virtually anything, regardless of its significance. She prefers fighting over negotiating, making it a costly process for even the simplest items that could be settled easily. It's essential to understand that not every aspect of a case has to be contentious; finding middle ground allows for greater willingness to compromise on more significant issues. Casteel frequently relies on temporary orders, which serve as rules of engagement until the case is finalized. More rules equate to more expenses and unnecessary tension. They will file motions requesting obscure and restrictive conditions without any supporting evidence, only to advise you later in court to concede to more generous terms. This approach is a waste of both time and money. During mediation, which is meant to facilitate compromise towards a final agreement, Casteel tends to focus on unnecessary temporary orders instead of discussing anything final. Their goal during mediation appears to be avoiding a resolution, as final settlements would not generate additional fees for them. Barron and Carter often swap cases, meaning that Barron could be your attorney while Carter represents you at mediation. Unfortunately, they do not communicate effectively about the details of the case, wasting time by rehashing events from months prior. Moreover, Carter may reopen previous agreements, choosing to fight for a different direction than what Barron previously agreed upon. They will request extensive discovery information from the opposing party while openly admitting that they do not review it unless it goes to court. Understanding both the strengths and weaknesses of the case is crucial in finding agreement outside of a courtroom. However, their team often spends an excessive amount of billable hours "reviewing" your own discovery response, which will ultimately be submitted incomplete to opposing counsel. This incompleteness leads to further requests and additional billable hours to respond. While it may not be accurate to label Casteel as a bad firm, they clearly capitalize on billable hours and lack a sense of urgency when it comes to settling cases.

want to send a shout out to the Law Office of Kimbel L Brown and Stefanie Villarreal. I have seen…read moreso much good come from their office. In a field that is labeled full of greed, I can confidently say their office is more about living for purpose than for the paycheck. Today I reached out about an issue with a Vietnam vet, and without skipping a beat, she was ready to help in any way they could. I want to point out several things I've witnessed from this office: 1. An elderly man who reached out, because he needed help with paperwork but everyone wanted to charge an arm and a leg. He walked into their office and they showed him exactly what to do online, free of charge. 2. An elderly lady walked in looking for legal help. They could not assist her legally, but during the conversation she had shared that her vehicle broke down in De Soto. After she left, Stefanie and her boss gathered money for a bus ticket and she found her and brought her to the bus station, also giving her what cash she had on her. She went further and called a shop in De Soto to look at the car to see if the expenses could be covered. 3. She posted the desire of their office to have a day to do a free clinic to prepare wills for single moms, in honor, and following the passing, of Brandi Webb. 4. They donated free legal services to help raise money for a local family who lost their home in a fire. 5. And on a personal level- the first time I met her, I complimented something of hers and she gave me one!! I could go on and on, but truly, I'm beyond grateful to see the heart and soul poured out by this office, and hope that if you are ever needing legal representation, be sure to put them on the top of your list
