My friends and I were in Merced for the afternoon and thought this place would be a cute Mom and Pop kinda joint. It's definitely a laidback kind of atmosphere. The service was especially friendly and helpful. However, the food wasn't that great. The chips were stale, but the salsa was pretty okay. I got the Chili Verde Burrito and the meat was really dry and bland. I had to ask for extra verde sauce to give it more moisture and taste. I think I'll just get taco truck next time I'm feeling like "authentic" Mexican food. read more

We tried this before a show at Merced Theater across street. I had a steak taco and a ground beef enchilada. My mom had a shredded chicken quesadilla and my son had a shrimp quesadilla. Nothing was memorable but it was okay. read more

Very friendly employees. They make you feel right at home. I had the enchiladas and the were very good. I'll definitely come back!

One of two of my favorite places for breakfast. Might not bring the kids next trip rather bring LeLani with me. read more

I liked the service and the vibes. Overall is good. Not great but decent i had chilaquiles with scrambled eggs on the side. The chilaquiles were not cooked right. It seems like the sauce was thrown on top of the fried tortillas. I usually cook the sauce and throw the tortillas after to keep them crunchy. I would go back maybe order something else. The pozole looks good read more

We had a cheese enchilada and a beef one with red sauce. They were very good...and large. We enjoyed the chips and salsa. It was a great Saturday lunch on a hot September day. The interior was cute very festive. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. My tummy was happy! read more

This place is never open when I come. I have litterally come 4 times and they are closed. They are open for a little bit in the morning and the sign says they open up again at 6:30pm. The breakfast burritos are good they do charge for extra salsa which is kind of a bummer. Long time ago when I did come and they were open for in door dinning the food was good the menudo was a bit on the heavy oil side but the burrito I ordered was really good. I won't come back. Too many times I come and they are closed plus they do not have daily open and closed hours posted in the door. So you never know. read more

Went up at 830 pm and they closed early. Guess they didn't want our money. I'll never go back again.

The food is good but the prices are outrageous for the portions they serve. They wanted to charge $5 for menudo in a small bowl where they serve you salsa lol. if you're going to charge $12 for pancakes at least make sure their bigger then pancakes at McDonald's. they need to either work on their prices or serving portions. read more

We wanted to try this place so what better day to check it out but on Cinco De Mayo for lunch. The sign in the window said that they have great enchiladas! My wife had the beef enchilada with rice and beans. I had the wet burrito with the enchilada sauce on top. My wife enjoyed her food but I was not enjoying my burrito. The presentation of the food was great! My burrito I was not impressed. I took my first bite and bit into a rock! I've had many burritos in my lifetime and tons of Mexican food. This was the first time that I've EVER bit into a rock! The waitress said it was probably from the beans and that she would alert the cooks in the back. Needless to say I was EXTREMELY cautious on eating the rest of my food with small bites. We liked the warm chips and salsa and they brought us a second bowl of chips without asking. Not sure that we'll go back but we did experience this place for the first time. Just was surprised that the only thing that was said when I brought the rocks in the napkin to the register was that she'll let the cooks know. All I can say is try it out for yourself. read more

Great food. Friendly service. Food tastes as if made at home and their salsa is very well made. The food is also priced fairly well. Lunch specials are well proportioned and I never leave hungry. Did I mention the salsa is amazing? The workers are always friendly and polite. They also have a burrito stand just outside their door that services people on the run. They call it burritos on the run. This place has an authentic valley feel to it. read more

Called at 2:30 pm to place a takeout order and they are closed. Not a good way to keep businesses going. Will be spending my money elsewhere. read more

This place rules. Stop here and then get Vietnamese sandwiches to go from across the street and Donut King.

I had a shredded chicken taco salad my husband had fish tacos my daughter had the shredded beef sopes we all tried each others food and each dish was equally delicious!!!! Service was great, food came out fast and hot! I would highly recommend eating here. read more

They have the best Machaca plate hands down! Food is really good and The service and the ladies in there are so sweet an awesome! Very affordable and good read more

We ordered enchiladas, nachos, and tacos. Everything was bland and soggy. No flavor, nothing special, won't be returning.

Traveling with a dog makes it difficult to eat. Marie's was one of the few places we could find with a patio. They were very kind about serving us outside even though it was HOT. Service was super fast. Salsa is really good, bit spicy for me personally. I love enchiladas; the ones here are now in my top 5! Super good. Recommend if you love enchiladas! read more

I have ordered a couple items and it reminds me of my mom quick cooking. I have had menudo, enchiladas, breakfast burritos. Will keep ordering different things in their menu. read more

Under new ownership, the restaurant is now called Marie's Mexican Kitchen and boasts great service, homemade tortillas and amazing prices! Wednesday is All-you-can eat enchiladas. The iced tea is fresh brewed and your cup is rarely empty. Very kid-friendly. This is the place to go for authentic Mexican food in Merced. read more

This place is very very good! Great service and friendly atmosphere too. Ate the Camarones a la Diabla and two chicken enchiladas, and flour tortillas. Amazing! Would eat here all of the time if I lived here. Highly recommend for a quaint and authentic Mexican place. read more

Excellent. Really good, home cooked Mexican food. They make their own tortillas. Order the beef enchiladas. You will not be disappointed.

Chilie Verde and Eggs!!! THATISALL!!!! But the enchiladas are great too!

My absolute favorite place to eat in Merced! Good food, good people. I will nevet get tired of enjoying my meals here.

I was in Merced looking at the campus with my little brother and we stopped by Sinaloa. I ordered pollo asada tacos. They came in a hard shell, and not a fried corn tortilla but a baked one like you buy at the store. Think Dorritos. The cheese was pre-shredded from a bag, and was not queso fresco. My dad had a al pastor burrito. The al pastor was not above average, a little dry and not too flavorful. If you're looking for authentic, there may be better places in Merced. read more

I will admit I am a bit of a Mexican food snob. I have eaten it A LOT and have had a lot of good Mexican food. I will say here the service was great. The food... not so much. It wasn't bad, just not good. They advertise their enchiladas on the building, so I thought if they are proud of it, it must be good. To be honest mine are much better and I am not Mexican. They were just okay. The beans and rice were lacking flavor and a bit bland. My wife said the same. They do have homemade four tortillas, but they were not that great. They were real heavy and dry. The best thing I ate was the salsa. It was really good and a bit spicier than most table salsa which I liked. They also advertise $1 take out burritos. I asked about them and they are bean and cheese. Maybe go and try that. I won't be back. Sorry Marie's. :( The search for high quality Mexican food in Merced continues. read more

We've always recieved amazing service and food here, absolutely nothing to complain about! Marie's is one of the better Mexican food choices in Merced (and we have a ton of choices!). read more

Great causal mexican restaurant. The salsa was spicy but really fresh and good. I had a chicken enchilada and thought it was excellent!

Our waitress was Maria. She is awesome!!! A fantastic locally owned business. I'm definitely going to be a return customer! Salsa is excellent. The atmosphere is nice - like a step back in time. Loved it! read more

Got ticket wrong had to ask the young waitress for more chips & drinks was so busy trying to get new tables she forgot about the tables she had !! Very very unprofessional!! Had no personality! Will be calling owner tomorrow!!! read more

I really like this place. It's kinda funky on the outside - rock entry w/pink walls behind, basic diner counter w/small tables inside. The owner's have a collection of crosses on the walls that I added to when I moved. Seems like family owned & operated, but that's just my observation. I love their food. I've ordered something different every time I go (like once a week!) and never got something I don't like. Took some vegan friends & they got hooked on the avocado taco - either quac or avocado slices on corn tortilla w/lettuce, tomato, & queso. Different, but really good. Everything meat-y is really meat-y - no skimping, salsa, beans & rice are homemade & yummy. read more

Not to bad a little pricey but never come for the all you can eat buffet. They don't taste like the ones they give you at regular price. The chips and salsa are pretty good. read more

Did I catch this place on a bad night? Not merely the worst Mexican food I've ever had, but probably the worst I've had period. The carnitas looked like it had been left in the sun for a week and my partner's enchiladas were border-line rancid. I swear we've had that same salsa from Costco. I can tolerate a lot when I'm hungry, but this was just disgusting. We nearly walked out refusing to eat or pay, fearing for our health, but stuck it out against our better judgement. If it weren't for the positive reviews I would call the health department tomorrow. If the rumbling in my tummy persists, I definitely will. read more

Always so friendly and their daily specials are always on point! My favorite is the chicken enchilada and tacos with rice and beans for $7.95! Also, the $1 burritos with handmade tortillas are the best! read more

Came to Merced on business and stopped in for dinner. The chips and salsa were good but the chile verde was even better.

Absolutely amazing! I was very very skeptical about the area and I was uncomfortable at first until I walked in the door! The atmosphere was peaceful and felt like a nice family restaurant! An adorable cashier greeted me and took care of me right away making small talk! She offered to help me out to the car with my bags and was so sweet! I give this place a thumbs up and would totally come back! Love it! Good job! :) read more

I went here for my very first time last month. Their special on that day was all you can eat enchiladas. They started me out with 3, with beans and rice. It was very good. The waitress asked if I wanted more and how many. I told her 3 more. I thought that after seconds, that would be it, but she asked if I wanted more. I declined thirds, although I was surprised that she even offered more. There service was great! Tonight I returned, and had the taco salad, Again, great food and service! read more

I love Marie's. A great place to relax and have some authentic Mexican food.

The first 2 times I have been here the food was excellent. But last Sunday was a bad experience if it had been our first time trying the place out. We would have never came back. I had the Menudo which I couldn't wait to try theirs cause I love menudo. It was so watered down it had no taste. My husband ordered a burrito with shrimp. The shrimp had no seasoning added. It wasn't even grilled. More like warmed in the microwave. Sorry to say but I hope the owner reads this and changes whoever was doing the cooking Sunday around 11am read more

First of all, the service was great and the wait time was very short considering the size of our party. The taste and consistency of the horchata was off. We couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was but the cinnamon in it was too spicy which created an unpleasant after taste. The beans and rice did not taste good separately but once mixed together they complimented each other nicely. The carnitas were too salty but the enchiladas were good. Overall it was a nice experience for they accommodated the size of our party without any wait time or hassle. read more

I've tried this place twice to give it a second chance and both times the food was not that great at all the place is filthy no where to park and the prices aren't that great. When I ordered a burrito with beef in it the beef was rubbery it's like as if they just left the fat on there it was gross. read more
